webMAN MOD

PS3 webMAN MOD - General Information Thread 1.47.48q

It is not easy to add more groups. Indeed to add the sub-groups to ROMS category was a challenge.

FIRMWARE/MUSIC/PICTURE/PKG/VIDEO stored in exFAT/NTFS are stored in BD & DVD folder.

You can add a new category if you add the file wm_custom.xml to the root of USB or internal HDD.
Customize that file to your needs.

Thank you for the reply @aldostools. I will indeed give the wm_custom.xml a whirl. I'm new to this so I might be asking some questions lol. I was actually looking at your github for examples and trying to see how you did it all. I was hoping it would be something like editing the .xml's and not having to change the main.c for anything. I'm a newbie when it comes to programming tho so I doubt I'd be able to do anything in the main.c is why I asked here. And since I am a newbie, I'll most likely have trouble with the .xml's as well lol. But I'm willing to try at least.

You mentioned, "FIRMWARE/MUSIC/PICTURE/PKG/VIDEO stored in exFAT/NTFS are stored in BD & DVD folder," is there any reason it doesn't populate it via network? Should it? Is something wrong on my end? Everything else populates over network.

I personally only use the network feature. None of my external hard drives seem to work with exFAT/NTFS on the PS3. I've spent the last four days reading and trying different things to get webman MOD to recognize them and nothing's worked. So, I gave up on it and decided to use network only since it seemed to work right out the shoot. Plus, I find it to be more convenient, for me at least, having everything on my PC.

Also while I'm here typing this, I can't for the life of me get my Sega roms to populate. I'm assuming it's a folder naming issue but I've tried GEN/GENISIS/MEGAD and it doesn't seem to want to populate my Sega roms. Any information on this also will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again for the reply.

Edit: I forgot about the Movian question I had. From what I've been reading, does Movian only directly launch videos created by RetroArch? I was looking at "_Projects_/wm_url_launcher/main.c" and seen that launching movian.self is in there and the extentions for media files are also listed. Would be a nice addition to launch Movian directly from XMB when selecting a media file from webman MOD.

One last thing, would you rather I post my questions/requests to your github rather than here? Just curious which you'd prefer and what you keep an eye on more.

@aldostools I started trying to edit wm_custom.xml to achieve what I proposed earlier. And I can get the folders to show up for MUSIC/PICTURE/VIDEO but no files are being populated when selecting the folder(s). I'm trying to populate via "net*" Here's what I have so far, forgive me if it's all wrong, I'm entirely new.

Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<XMBML version="1.0">

<View id="wm_root"> <!-- wm_root" -->
   <Attributes>
     <Table key="wm_media">
       <Pair key="icon"><String>/dev_hdd0/tmp/wm_icons/icon_wm_album_dvd.png</String></Pair>
       <Pair key="title"><String>Media Content</String></Pair>
       <Pair key="info"><String>MUSIC-PICTURE-VIDEO</String></Pair>
       <Pair key="str_noitem"><String>msg_error_no_content</String></Pair>
     </Table>
   </Attributes>
   <Items>
     <Query class="type:x-xmb/folder-pixmap" key="wm_media" attr="wm_media" src="#seg_wm_media_items"/>
   </Items>
</View>

<!-- item 01 -->
<View id="seg_wm_media_items">
   <Attributes>
     <Table key="MUSIC">
       <Pair key="icon"><String>/dev_hdd0/tmp/wm_icons/icon_wm_album_dvd.png</String></Pair>
       <Pair key="title"><String>Music</String></Pair>
       <Pair key="info"><String>View Music Folders and Play Files</String></Pair>
       <Pair key="str_noitem"><String>msg_error_no_content</String></Pair>
       <Pair key="module_name"><String>idle_plugin</String></Pair>
       <Pair key="bar_action"><String>none</String></Pair>
       <Pair key="module_action"><String>/net0/MUSIC</String></Pair>
     </Table>

   </Attributes>

   <Items>
     <Query class="type:x-xmb/folder-pixmap" key="MUSIC" attr="MUSIC" src="host://localhost/net0/MUSIC"/>

   </Items>
</View>
</XMBML>
Note: That's my test for the MUSIC folder only. If I can get that working it'd be the same for PICTURE/VIDEO.

I understand you said it was a challenge to get ROM subfolders working. I just need to know if it's possible to achieve the same thing via wm_custom.xml and if it is, how do I go about making that happen? Or is it hard coded from within webman MOD's source code? I mentioned before, I only use net server so for a user like me this would be a great addition.

I also understand that I can already "Mount" MUSIC/PICTURE/VIDEO from with webman Mod's Network mounting. I just thought it'd be a nice addition to have them populate just like the games/roms. Ability, to view and launch everything from one place, no need to Mount, then go to specified XMB category to view the mounted folder. Would be able to do it all from within "webMAN Games"

Any help/info will be greatly appreciated.

it is not possible to implement this function in the future?

No. webMAN MOD is a plugin that runs in background with several limitations in memory usage.

To see the 3D images in webMAN MOD, you need to save them already rendered like that using an external tool.

@aldostools I'm not sure if you missed my last post or not but if you don't mind, would you take a look at it and give me some clarification so I could either put the idea to rest or continue to beat my head against the issue lol. I understand you may be busy and may have just missed it. Thanks in advance

Sorry, I've missed your post. The XMB only can list files available in the native file system (internal HDD or FAT32 or BDVD).

The devices /net0, /dev_ntfs0, etc. are "virtual" devices displayed in the File Manager.
These folders cannot be accessed through the XML queries.

It's possible to show the remote content in XMB if you mount /net0 as /dev_bdvd
In this case the query should use /dev_bdvd instead of /net0

webMAN MOD 1.47.33 is out.

Changelog:
  • New combo L2+L3+R3 sets XMB focus on webMAN Games
  • Allows set audio visualization, video player or photo slider as background or "dynamic theme"
    Here are 2 videos by @DeViL303 demonstrating this capability: MP4 as XMB background / Gaia as dynamic theme
  • Added option to auto-play XMB music on startup of the plugin
  • New web commands /browser.ps3$music and /browser.ps3$home
  • Cumulative update (includes over 27 commits to the suite of tools)

@aldostools Would you mind providing an example? I've done a few different combinations, trying to do as you said but as I've mentioned I really don't know what I'm doing lol.

here's what I've tried:

1. <Pair key="module_action"><String>/mount_ps3/dev_bdvd</String></Pair>
<Query class="type:x-xmb/folder-pixmap" key="MUSIC" attr="MUSIC" src="host://localhost/net0/MUSIC"/>
(Nothing happens, folder doesn't get populated or data disc doesn't get added.

2. <Pair key="module_action"><String>/mount_ps3/net0/MUSIC</String></Pair>
<Item class="type:x-xmb/module-action" key="MUSIC" attr="MUSIC" src="host://localhost/dev_bdvd"/>
(This just mounts net0/MUSIC as normal, I can view the the "data disc" in XMB but only under the XMB Music Category, not within the folder I created.)

I think my last example is what you were trying to tell me, I think. But again I'd like for either the data disc to get placed withing the folder I created or for the files to just populate without the data disc, within the folder I created.

Any more info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hello @aldostools ,

I have a big temperature problem with the webMAN-Mod v1.47.32 of 04/01/2021 and also that of the recent version v1.47.33 of 10/01/2021.
When my PS3 model CECH-4204C is under the XMB, no problem, the maximum temperature of 60 ° C is well monitored, the ventilation increases a little in speed (minimum speed of 27% (not very audible)) [maximum speed of 45 %]. When I am in the game (GT5 for example), the ventilation remains on speed before launching the game for as long as the game is running.
As soon as the game stops, it rises very quickly to the maximum speed indicated in wMM and then falls back to the minimum speed value within two minutes. I controlled this problem via the network interface and the temperatures reached 65 ° C during the game without the ventilation accelerating its speed. This is abnormal !!!

This problem does not exist with version "1.47.32" of 29/12/2020 even if there are other problems with this revision.

Can you get back to more efficient fan speed control during play please ???

Thanks in advance.

how do i run? Added option to auto-play XMB music on startup of the plugin ...
1- Copy music files to HDD in Music column of XMB
2- Go to /setup.ps3, expand the section webMAN MOD Setup.
3- Check the option Music.
4- Save & reboot.
5- When the plugin starts you will see a notification "Starting Music... Press O to abort".
6- Wait about 15 seconds... the cursor will move automatically to Music column, open a side menu, Play and return to Games.
7- Or press CIRCLE until you hear a cancel sound indicating that the automated task was aborted.

Merci beaucoup Algol! J'ai annulé le changement récent. Veuillez télécharger à nouveau le programme d'installation.

Thank you @Algol! I have reverted the recent change. Please download the installer again.

@aldostools ,

It's nice to have immediately corrected this problem, I congratulate you. And, in addition, you answer me in French. It is a mark of honor and I am cordially touched by it.

It's my turn to help you and I can confirm that the control and management of the temperature of this CECH-4204C have become very reliable again, all the values that I have followed via the NET interface have remained in the tolerances I installed. It's perfect, really perfect.

Best regards, your friend from France.

prepISO 1.28 - Scan content in external storage formatted in exFAT/NTFS/ext2/ext3
https://github.com/aldostools/webMAN-MOD/releases/download/1.47.33/prepISO_1.28.pkg

What's new in 1.28:
- File name now can be up to 110 characters in fakeISO (formerly supported up to 64 characters)
- Fixed creation of fakeISO for exFAT content
- Scan ports usb ports 0-7, 64-79, 120-127 and dev_cf, dev_sd, dev_ms
- Enabled support for GPT with FF_LBA64 in exFAT

*fakeISO = .ntfs[BDFILE] created to allow access to non-ISO files (.mp4, .mp3, .PUP, .p3t, etc.)

Thanks to @Zar & @tps for their work on exFAT library.
Original prepNTFS by @deank. NTFS library by Estwald.

The tool shows a black screen for few seconds. webMAN MOD game list is refreshed when returns to XMB.

@aldostools :

I have a quick question about the setup.ps3 option to enable dev_blind. I actually never enable it normally in wMM setup as I find I never need to, I never have. But I find its always mounted if I type it into the location bar in my FTP client. So my question is, does it get mounted automatically when I try to access it, or is it always mounted but invisible or something? It's not really important, just curious.

It is mounted automatically when you try to access it through webMAN MOD.

Other applications only have access when it is mounted. That's the reason of the option in setup.

In Mamba 8.3 and later, dev_blind is mounted automatically when the path is accessed.
