aldo why was the no icon0.png option removed? default icons can no longer be used?
Removed from where? The cover combo box in the last test build's setup page?
Remember you can set the cover mode using the web command if for some reasons there was a problem with this build's setup page...

When you run prepNTFS, a freeze happens 5s after Refresh xml pop up?
You need to hard reboot but does xmb freeze on loading after hard reboot?

Have you checked the /dev_hdd0/tmp/wmtmp folder after the hard reboot? Did prepNTFS produce all the required ntfs shortcuts in /dev_hdd0/tmp/wmtmp folder?

If the ntfs shortcuts are all there, after the hard reboot, leave prepNTFS alone & launch a Refresh Xml directly from webMAN-MOD, does xmb freeze?

It just keeps getting worse. So I tried to went back to another round of testing in v1.45.00. Installed the .pkg and launched the Updater from the XMB pressing L1 for a FULL installation. This time the ps3 froze on me a couple of seconds after the reboot. Had to do a hard reboot following that, but it keeps freezing.

So in order to escape the loop cycle, I unplugged the usb drive and I tried to install wMM v1.45.00 yet gain before the freeze happens just pressing X (lite install) this time. It rebooted peacefully with no freeze after that.

So this time it froze without even launching prepNTFS, which I frequently use every time I make changes to the disk contents since all my backups are in ISO format.

Right now I'm even more clueless.

Update: As of now I can confirm I get no freeze neither installing wMM v1.45.00 (pressing X/Lite Edition) nor using it. Even prepNTFS is my friend again and is working like a charm.

When do I freeze?: If I try to install wMM 1.45.00 pressing L1 (Full Edition). The ps3 freezes after rebooting and keeps on doing it after hard reboot.

Update 2: wMM v1.43.35 works when I launch a full installation (L1 pressed). No freeze.

Thank you for your patience.

Could you try launching webMAN-MOD with Cobra instead of Rebug?

With FTP or whatever, rename /dev_hdd0/boot_plugins.txt to /dev_hdd0/boot_plugins.txt.bak.

Then create a new boot_plugins.txt containing only one line :
Code:
/dev_hdd0/webftp_server.sprx
Copy it to /dev_hdd0.

Get the latest webftp_server_full.sprx from /dev_hdd0/game/UPDWEBMOD/USRDIR/pkgfiles.
Copy it to /dev_hdd0 & rename it webftp_server.sprx

Finally, launch the Rebug Toolbox & disable webman in the selector column.

Reboot.

Do you have the same problem?

To revert to Rebug launch method is easy.
Swap the old boot_plugins.txt with the new one on /dev_hdd0 then launch Rebug Toolbox & enable webman in the selector column. Reboot.

Also FYI when the xmb freezes, do you still have ftp access? If yes, to get out of loops, all you need to do is this:

If wMM is launched by Rebug, keep /dev_blind enabled in webMAN-MOD setup page so you can, by ftp, add a .bak extension to /dev_blind/vsh/module/webftp_server.sprx

If wMM is launched by Cobra, edit the boot_plugins.txt or add a .bak extension to /dev_hdd0/webftp_server.sprx.

Note that you can use Windows Explorer to do all the FTP operations above. You do not need another ftp client even though you are free to use the ftp client you prefer as well of course.

Edit: one last thing, it is possible that the freeze happens on startup because it scans content. You may not get any freeze on boot if you disable the "Scan content on startup" option in the setup page. Am obviously not suggesting this as a fix but it would help you with testing...

I have not tested this build yet but I am about to do it. I will confirm the problem or not very soon.
Can you try the web command in the meantime?
/refresh.ps3?cover=<mode>

The modes are:
icon0, online, mm, disc or none.
The default is multiMAN mode.

In your case, from the ps3 browser, that would be:
hxxp://localhost/refresh.ps3?cover=icon0

Thank you so much for your help and detailed instructions.

Does that still applies if:

"Update: As of now I can confirm I get no freeze neither installing wMM v1.45.00 (pressing X/Lite Edition) nor using it. Even prepNTFS is my friend again and is working like a charm.

If so, sorry for the colossal ignorance, but I have to ask: when you say "Launching webman with Cobra instead of Rebug" what exactly does it mean? (I'm on rebug 4.80.1 cobra mode enabled/toggle webman enabled/system mode: normal) that's all I know! :P

Will carefully try to follow your instructions to see if the problem gets solved and, as of right now, it consists in getting a freeze when launching wMM 1.45.00 updater with L1 pressed.

Kudos to you.

Update: I always used the "FTP disabled" option checked in wMM. When I need FTP I launch IRISMan and Filezilla combo.

In a usual Cobra CFW, plugins are loaded by Cobra using the boot_plugins.txt. The file contains a list of plugins to load with their path.

In Rebug, the team has "promoted" webMAN-MOD to a system plugin status so instead of using the boot_plugins.txt, webMAN-MOD is launched directly by the system on boot.
Of course, any other plugins installed on Rebug must still use the boot_plugins.txt way. That is why you will find wm_vsh_menu & psnpatch there if you installed those.

Regarding different behaviours between versions, we have heard you. No doubt, aldostools will already be working on this. His silence is very often followed by a fix or an explanation... [emoji3] Fingers crossed.

In the meantime, I am still trying to figure out a way out of the freeze if possible. At the same time, we are gathering more and more information about the problem that can only help Aldo come up with a definitive answer to your issue.

I think I got it. It's like the .txt responsible by the plugins enabled/disabled in the PSP, right? Ok, so Rebug team kind of "embedded" wMM within it (system plugin). I've never installed psnpatch. But since I installed previous versions of wMM (Full Edition) I can launch the VSH menu by keeping "Select" pressed on (just like in the PSP).

The freeze will only occur as of right now if I try a v1.45.00 Full Install (L1 pressed) via wMM Updater in the XMB - It will freeze a few seconds after reboot. An easy way out is launch the wMM updater again pressing only X.

Thank you for your time, patience and knowledge! both of you!

If you install manually by copying/renaming the webftp_server.sprx file, you will not get these installation freezes so you can focus on testing something else like Refresh Xml.
Installation freezes are strange though, I had something similar to you some a while ago, crash on install... After a couple of weeks of issues, I had to reinstall the CFW for testing reasons. After reinstall the problem was gone... Am not suggesting at all that a cfw reinstall will fix your problem but it's good to keep in mind that it is a last resort option that may work...
In this release, Aldo has made a few changes to the installer in order to support in Rebug both the boot_plugins.txt way & the Rebug system plugin way. It works fine for me but changes could have brought potential issues for some....??

About ftp, in this case you should enable it in wMM because it's the only way to eventually use ftp during such a xmb freeze. You can now change the wMM ftp port if you need to.
Also you should know that when having problems like these it is easier to work from a Pc browser using the setup page & web commands from there. If xmb freezes, very often wMM keeps working in the background.

Also during refresh xml testing, remember to disable in the setup page if it is not already the case:
1) Net service
2) Scan LAN games
You should also delete the contents of the /dev_hdd0/tmp/wmtmp folder when you really want to test from scratch.
Use the "Delete wmtmp" link in the setup page.

Has anybody else had issues with auto play enabled? That feature stopped working for me after 1.43.36. I am using Rebug 4.80.1 REX and my USB drive is NTFS. Up to 1.43.35 when selecting a game the browser would close and webMAN would wait for the disc icon to change to the game logo before launching. Now it doesn't wait and the games hang on a black screen. But if I turn auto play off and wait for the game logo myself the game loads fine.

Look at post #47 & aldostools/Turranius subsequent exchange on the subject.
Post #57 has a test build you can try as well.
Please report after testing. [emoji6]

Noticed it after posting. I have ~80 games on the USB drive and every one I am trying stalls at the black screen. Will do more testing but when auto play is disabled and I wait for said logo to appear in place of the default disc icon the game loads fine. Also as I said above they all booted fine before 1.43.36.

EDIT: Didn't see your edit, I'll try the test build now. Do I replace the webftp_server.sprx located at /dev_blind/vsh/module?

Yes replace the webftp_server.sprx located at /dev_blind/vsh/module
You can rename the original as a backup if you like.

Personally I prefer to disable webman in Rebug Toolbox & just use the boot_plugins.txt to load all my plugins.

The test version still hangs on the black screen. I don't think webMAN is waiting for the game iso to load fully? As before it would only boot after the game logo appeared in place of the default disc icon. Or maybe messing with USB settings would help?

Same result as Turranius then.
Aldo is most likely still looking into it. No doubt, there will be another test build or release very soon. Keep checking this thread in the coming hours... [emoji6]

Actually I just tested the feature with a iso game on ntfs partition using the [auto] tag in the name but with Auto-Play disabled in setup.
It works fine this way despite some latency between mount & launch.

Edit: just tested the Auto-Play feature with games on ntfs. No problems. Everything working fine for me.

Just back online after a nice family Sunday. [emoji6]
You seem to have changed your mind & done the Singstar icon restoring on setup option unchecked yourself already?
Do you still want me to look into something?
Test it maybe?

Test is always needed :) You can try with this pre-release of 1.45.01:
http://aldostools.org/temp/test/webMAN_MOD_1.45.01_Updater.pkg
(not available on github yet until tested)

In addition to the new features already mentioned, this package includes an update for VSH Menu 1.11 with the new mode: LAST GAMES (use L1/R1 to select the different modes).

Also I uploaded to github a revised ps3netsrv 20161016 to prevent a crash that occurred on Windows hovering the mouse on the folders of /net/GAMES

aldo why was the no icon0.png option removed? default icons can no longer be used?

The option icon0.png haven't been removed from /setup.ps3.
The option appears as a drop down list next to "Disable multiMAN covers".

Indeed now it's also possible to scan indicating the cover type, using ?cover=icon0 as parameter.

Not in the game's name but in a folder called
PS3ISO [auto]

Also, I just tried Auto-Play with
1) iso on internal hdd
2) JB game on internal hdd
3) iso on ntfs
All of those work fine.

Actually the [auto] tag can be in any part of the path (PS3ISO [auto], subfolder or in the file name.iso)

Using the Auto Play option found in /setup.ps3 will do the Auto-Play for every game, no matter if the tag is used.

Using L2 will toggle Auto Play temporarily. i.e. If Auto Play option is not checked, holding L2 will auto launch the game; if Auto Play is selected, then holding L2 will prevent auto launch the game.

Regarding the latency between mount & auto launch... the plugin first waits for Cobra/GameOS mount the game on /dev_bdvd, then for the disc icon to appear. The first part is easy to detect, polling /dev_bdvd until it's mounted. For the disc icon, the plugin should wait a fixed amount of time. Some games do it fast, but others can take up to 15 seconds or more to appear.

If the plugin don't wait enough, the "exec_push" could be launching a different icon; and the game ends not launching. So it's better to be patient if Auto Play is used :)
