PS3 XMB MOD Manager Update Out

Following its previous release, developer brunolee was kind enough to drop by the forums with a update to his XMB MOD Manager. The update adds support for custom firmware 4.70 and includes a updated version of Aldostools webMAN MOD. Below you will find various versions to install. Base is [break].[/break]for a fresh install and update is for those who already have the previous version installed. Also note that there are Portuguese counterparts of each.

Changes:

• Added 4.70 compatibility
• Update webMAN MOD

Notes:

• If you have no "XMB MOD Manager" installed, just BASE is required
• If you have last "XMB MOD Manager" installed, only the UPDATE is necessary

high temp/high noise

Package Manager
- ★ Install Package Files (TRADITIONAL MODE)
- ★ Package Manager (REBUG MODE)
- Manager Plus (XMBM+ MODE)
When choosing betwen different modes, besides changing the folder to install PKGs on the XMB also:
- Remove ★ /app_home/PS3_GAME/ from XMB
- Adds "My Games" to XMB
- Sort (Alphabetically A-Z and Z-A) Games, Homebrews on XMB
- XMB Manager Plus (XMBM+) v0.0.22.013 as "PKG Bubble" for XMBM+ Mode

The PS3 slim doesn't have overheating issues as far as I know. Most of the noise comes from the Blueray drive.

As far as I know webman's fan control is made for the fat PS3 (the first PS3 models) which do have overheating problems.

 

You wrong, maybe slim is cooler than fat but still is not cool enough. Webman help to keep lower temps on any PS3.

 

I have two dead slims here now, from overheating. the PS3 fan will stay at 20% until the CPU hits 80c then it kicks in full blast rapidly cooling the CPU just to repeat the process again. If you ask me, I would say the YLoD has a lot to do with thermal shock. (I never let mine get above 65c)

Agreed. Mine keeps a low temp but I leave the top case off because the fan gets too noisy. The heat sink is good but I believe the ps3 slim cases aren't ventilated properly. It's not noisy but you can hear that it works harder than needed to keep a cool temp.

 

actually, yall know whats hilarious? on average, NOR fat models are cooler than slim models after i replace the paste. and usually by about 5+- degrees

 

Yup 65nm Fat can be cooler and more silent than some slims (like 250X which have too small heatsink or 200X with some heatsink revisions). Because better air flow in fat covers and bigger heat sink and fan.

Why not change the paste under the IHS for both CPU/RSX?

 

Because is risky for noob (including me in this case).
