PS3 4.66 HABIB v1.00 (w/ Cobra 7.03)

Custom Firmware Developer HABIB has released his latest CFW with HABIB 4.66 v1.00, that is equipped with COBRA 7.03 feature and the ability to Toggle on and off the cobra payload. Also in this CFW build is deank's new Anti ODE Cobra Patches that has improved Game Compatibility on many problem games for Cobra User's. HABIB has also made some improvements in regards to[break]..[/break] PS2 on PS3 via Cobra with a fix to that Controller Sync issue that has been a problem since 4.50 CFW. Now play your PS2 ISOs without the restriction of that cord like its was meant to be on your PlayStation 3.

Some may wonder if developer HABIB is not with REBUG, but from what we have heard at PSX-Place the developer is still apart of the team and we also should be seeing a REBUG Release soon as well. Checkout all the details of this Standard CFW with Cobra 7.03 from developer HABIB (aka smhabib)

So there is a directory on the flash named 'shitty' and this can cause incompatibility with current homebrew?

whats in the folder?

So there is a directory on the flash named 'shitty' and this can cause incompatibility with current homebrew?

There's a folder in Habib Cobra 4.66 flash called "shity"
It ONLY will cause problems with webman-mod and with IRISman mod, due to personal disagreements between the two developers. AFAIK, All other homebrew works as intended. (hopefully I provided this info as neutral as possible)

The folder is used for habib's custom codes in 4.66. enable/disable cobra in stage2 is one usage for this that I know about.
On a general note: The folder itself isn't harmful. A folder is just a container for files. This is more an ethical than a technical issue IMO :)

So other then mounting dev_blind upon start there should be no issues and we can still manually mount it with muiltiman correct?

Yea not what I like my kid to see as she pulls up showtime to play Spongebob. I already got asked what "shitty" meant. Bravo, way to teach the kids how to act like a child. Well back to Rebug I go till 4.65.2 is launched with this support.

Hey bro. Its exactly the same as you are used to..not like dev_habib situation. It's still dev_flash/dev_blind and such. There's a folder in there that has his new payload

[MENTION=89]aldostools[/MENTION], I understand and respect your choice. And I don't specially want defend habib for that. (And even if, I have other greater and important thing to defend right now).
But at the end, boycotting this CFW will be more harmful to the end users than the Habib's reputation. And it may also affect yours.

I'm a bit sad by this situation.

How about a middle solution? If /dev_hdd0/shity then notify "Unsupported CFW" & vbcrlf & "Please ask developer to remove cuss words from your dev_flash" & vbcrlf & "A developer that CARES about YOUR console"
instead of the normal notification. that'd still provide functionality but provide enough complaints to developer to make it worth changing :)

The technical solution is simple:
- Install official webMAN or an older version of webMAN MOD or compile the new version with the check line commented.

Even more simple: ask habib to rename that folder. Maybe he will listen you.

I just didn't want to have to go thru all the bs of finding the SDK and blah blah if I get a friend that requests Habib and webman mod :(. His work on 4.46 and 4.55 were very stable and I have friends that still use it.

I understand your point, and I see his point as well, but this solution makes only the end user suffer. Depending on how stubborn the two parties are, depends on how "short" the term is that users suffer.
I'd rather be annoyed than blocked tbh :)

Don't get why one would even do that? Serves no purpose other then to raise an eyebrow. It was one thing when cloners took his work I understood the dev_habib but this is just trashy. But again I'm sure it will be "cloned & cleaned" within a day or two.

I do not like the folder names my self.

Personally i think they all should be the same and standard because it affects some guides/apps and does add some un-needed confusions. So that is my opinion on that. Also with kids and that it best to keep it all standard .

But man HABIB has been doing some great work and i do not think he is leaking anything from REBUG or parting himself from REBUG but more-less offering a Standard CEX based option of his Cobra work. There is still many new things himself and REBUG are going to showcase soon as well. Nice work.. but i would consdier changing the names.

For those who need the check line is:
Code:
if(isDir("/dev_flash/shity")) {sys_ppu_thread_exit(0); return;} // do not accept this

I completely agree with that !
stage2 was defined by cobra devs to be in /dev_flash/sys/stage2.bin
Being standard helps all devs that are trying to have multiple tools supporting different firmwares - and ultimately, it helps the users ...
;)

I do not know his age guys, but i think we need to look at the work he shared with us, rather then the folder name. While i understand the folder name issues and i hope he does change them. There is alot of cool things he has shared with us.

He is a minor I'm aware of that as he is still very much in school but I have to agree with standardization means.

I just wonder if this folder increases online detection? I can understand if kids are seeing it and I like everything standardized as stcards says. It's pretty petty to write extra code to exclude it's use though.

He's bright any way you look at it. Do I really like the folder? No. But I can work around it. I setup retroarch to a standard folder for browsing and I use UMS5 to play videos. I tell users that Dev flash can break everything with a single click, and they stay out. Usually don't ask many questions either. Lol.
