Developer Joonie of Team Rebug has announced today the latest cfw release (following 4.84.2 rex) of the REBUG brand. This is not the iconic REX flavor of PS3 Custom Firmware, which is a hybrid of dex/cex, In order for the creation of REX, the team is dependent and still in search for file's needed for the creation of REX (4.85 DEX PUP). However, they have the LITE version (a CEX based Cobra CFW) ready to go for 4.85 user's seeking a new 4.85 CFW. This is a welcomed update from Team Rebug as the 4.85 PS3 CFW landscape has been a bit light in choices (for 4.85). So having the developer's with one of the best name's in Custom,Firmware development is great to see now as an available option. Also, they have updated the Cobra payload to now version 8.2 & also the Rebug Toolbox has been updated (toolbox addon requires installation in "install package files" pkg is waiting for you there after installing REBUG) You can checkout all the feature's/patche's in the provided list below for this PlayStation 3 Custom FirmWare and then checkout full details/documentation of the release at the official website (direct link found at bottom of article).

Also note that 4.85 SPY COBRA CFW has also been a good/stable CFW flavor as well , more details on that release can be Seen here. Also note that SPY Cobra CFW will not be using the latest Cobra v8.2 (without an update) as its debuting here on 4.85.1 REBUG Lite.

Are there any disadvantages of Rebug Lite for a normal CFW user? I have the latest Rebug Rex right now and do not use any DEX stuff.

@Joonie can you provide me with cobra 8.2 src for normal cfw so i can update cobra 8.1 to 8.2?
    8. Kleon1876
My bad copy that. thank you!

Yes i see in aldo git when he update it and one hour after you add it to your git but that is for 485/LITE i mean like Evilnat i download the files from your git and compare them to cobra 8.01 for Normal CEX but i could make something wrong that lead to destruction :)

can i use compile cobra from your source directly ?? and i can't find the files in your tutorial
Environment setup for COBRA 7+ payload [PSL1GHT/CELL SDK]

can we talk in pm to avoid more thread highjack ?

    11. Joonie
I didn't use Fedora this time, just use PSL1GHT + COBRA support (PSDK3v2_COBRA)
    12. Louay
i have that setup but i compile only stage2 and not ps2emu file as you say

Currently this port is not finished, lv2gen, ps2emu stage1/2 , and stage0/1 are not supported, but stage2 is already good enough for you to play around for now, or you could use Fedora to compile all of them if needed, the source will be updated in near future
    13. Joonie
There's no change on ps2 side of things, you can use the same compiled binaries from rebug 4.84.2 rex
    14. Louay
and for the stage2 and lv2_kernel.self which diffrence between no REBUG CFW & REBUG CFW aside of the location
      • /dev_flash/rebug/cobra/stage2.cex in REBUG CFW
      • /dev_flash/sys/stage2.bin in no REBUG CFW
and Rebug is mostly use DEX modules so modulespatch.h will have diffrent hash i think ,am i wrong ??
    15. Joonie
it doesn't really matter where you put. The payload location has nothing to do with modulespatch, and regarding modulespatch, rebug lite is built out of CEX OFW, if I had DEX, I wouldn't have released LITE edition. There's not a single DEX module on LITE edition.
