PS3 Compatibility List - PS2 on PS3

I checked the compatibility list and one game caught my eye: The History Channel: Battle for the Pacific. Not tested for any region. So I pulled out my copy, dumped it, and verified it's the SLUS-21712 version. Game boots, cinematics and voiceovers work, and the gameplay itself seems alright. Seems like it deserves a Playable so far, except for the fact...

The main character and guns are a shiny green for some reason. It doesn't affect gameplay but it does ruin the immersion. So Minor Issues candidate?

Yep, is either a playable or minorissues, depends of how permisive we are about it :D
In my oppinion is better to label this little problems as minorissues and write a short description of it in the same way you did
Is the best way to indicate the game is a candidate to be reviewed (just incase is posible to create a custom config to fix it)
Otherway if we label it as playable or/and we dont mention the problem there is going to be people thinking that the game doesnt have any problem, so nobody is going to try to create a config for it

I am not sure if it has been documented, or clearly mentioned anywhere at least. But here is how the games with auto widescreen mode turn it on depending on the upscaler settings. CMR3 PAL has got a widescreen setting in game, but it does switch automatically on by checking the BIOS setting option.
1. No upscaling - 16:9 mode in game (read a note below).
2. Normal upscaling (retained proportions) - 4:3 mode in game.
3. Full screen upscaling (stretched) - 16:9 mode in game.

I think the "no upscaling" settings are determined by the PS3 video mode itself. So if you have a console connected with an analog connection and 4:3 mode is set during the video configuration, then the reported mode may be 4:3. I have not got any other options than the HDMI connection to check it though.

Spider-Man (SLUS-20336, SLES-50812, SLES-50813,
SLES-50814, SLES-50965, SLPM-65205)

Code:
3D 00 00 00 57 44 00 00 21 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
Fixes slight FMV stuttering and exhibits a general performance improvement. Gameplay runs at 60fps most of the time instead of the dip down to 30fps. Game speed is unaffected either way. Performance seems very similar to actual PS2 hardware now.

Wanted to ask about Spider-Man 3 (SLUS-21552)

Performance is sub optimal, with some serious dips and generally running a bit slow.

Wiki says "Freezes at the second splash screen. NTSC-U/C version works fine but it needs some optimization through custom config."

Has anyone worked on a config for it? Or could anyone point me in the right direction to do it myself as a newb? Thank you in advance

Did you test it on ps3?
This code will fix that freeze - patch=1,EE,0044bae4,word,000002ff
Probably @mrjaredbeta translate it in config! But i test it on ps4 and sadly it not worked!

Thank you! I will give it a try

On the subject of not-so-good Spider-Man games I tested Spider-Man Web of Shadows Amazing Allies Edition NTSC version (SLUS-21822) as it wasnt listed on the wiki and found it has some serious problems with enemies getting stuck offscreen which can make it difficult/impossible to play in certain levels that require you to defeat all enemies to progress.

@Oikos It's probably the bloom effect that is causing the poor frame rate, but I can't find a way to disable it.

Hey guys,

I've been trying to play Stuart Little 3 Big Photo Adventure PAL [SCES_534.22] on a CEHC04 PS3.

On rare occassions the game loads and runs fine, but then freezes at some point anyway.

Usual freeze happens when the game gets mounted, I select game language, try to load save or load new game.

At that point around 90% of the times instead of getting a loading screen the game ends up with a black screen, but the PS3 doesn't freeze. I can use the XMB to exit/restart the game.

What's odd is that the game is SCES_534.22, but once mounted with Webman Mod it always gets renamed to SCEX_534.22

My guess is that because of this renaming, this bug does occur.

Original ISO contains both SYSTEM.CNF and SCES_534.22 directories, but once mounted in Webman Mod - it gets changed to SCEX_534.22 in both SYSTEM.CNF and the other file inside of the iso.

Could this be the reason why this game goes to black screen so often?

I've additionally tried to create my own PS2CONFIG in ManagunZ for both SCES and SCEX ISO's and filenames, but it doesn't seem to affect the game whatsoever.

Here's some more details I might have missed:
https://github.com/aldostools/webMAN-MOD/issues/589

The ISO itself is untouched dump of the game, I've found some tool online to verify the PS2 ISO's and here's the result:

Here's the same file, but after being mounted in Webman Mod and pulled from a PS3:

I was running 1.47.36 and it was indeed renaming the .iso to SCEX.

I have updated to 1.47.37 using built in online updater and now the ISO conents aren't renamed anymore.

Yet I still do encounter the black screen when loading game world issue with this game, seems like it's quite random.

I did dump the game to HDD long time ago and gave away the physical disc to somebody who actually needed this game on PS2.

I could purchase this game again, if that would help, just let me know.
