Format ps3 and act.dat

Hi, i want to format ps3 hdd in system settings, and then update to latest habib firmvare..
My console is banned..My question is, can i copy act.dat file to my pc, format ps3 and update it, and then copy act.dat back to home/000000XX/exdata..
will my act.dat be corypted or unusable after that? Thanks
 
I'm not sure but i think it will not gonna work after that. act.dat is based on an account email and password, the devices IDPS, the platform and activation type. There are many "dependencies", but you can try. If file after that will be corrupted then use ReactPSN to activate content that you previously (before format) own.
 
I like from time to time to have fresh hdd..to delete everything..so i can use reactpsn? but how i will activate content without act.dat?
 
ok [MENTION=89]aldostools[/MENTION] i understand partially, part that i dont understand is "generate PSN license from USB/exdata" do i need to put act.dat to usb/exdata and reactpsn will copy it and activate it..or it will generate his own act.dat file?

reactpsn will create an "unsigned" act.dat, so no u don't need to place ur act.dat in the exdata folder. reactpsn will create its own. create the aa profile, put all raps/edats in the exdata folder, initiate reactpsn and don't hold any buttons. btw, u can create raps with ur act.dat (the one u have now), ur idps (place in a text file), and ur rif files with rif2rap (a windows app).

[MENTION=8208]kadorna2[/MENTION] , is correct in that u don't need to format to update if that's the reason ur doing that. if u have to for whatever reason, u can also backup/restore.

reActPSN will rename the "aa" account and generate a fake act.dat. It will not allow you go online. It's used only for license activation.

Before you format your hdd, you must backup your rifs/edat holding L2 when you run reActPSN. It will backup all the licenses as rap/edat. Then you can restore them as rif holding L1 and running reActPSN.

Hey man, how do you make your own raps with the act.dat?
i have a full backup of my PS3 HDD with the act.dat/raps/rifs/savedata etc and i've been trying to figure out (for ages) how to license my previously downloaded PSN dlc and games. my accounts have been permanently banned so i cant access the psn anymore. i saw this post about you mentioning you can create your own rap files but i need a little guidance.
how can i find out the idps from the data i have to create these new licenses?
any help would be hugely appreciated
 
Grab all your files from here

/dev_hdd0/home/xxxxxxxx/*.rif

The X's being the profile you need to get the files from. Then place them on a FAT32 formatted flash drive into a folder like this

Then fire up PSN Patch and choose the install function or you can use ReActPSN and make a secondary account named simply aa and must be lower case. Now on the profile you want to activate the content log into it not the aa one and place the drive with the exdata folder in the USB port closest to the Blu-ray drive and simply run the app ReActPSN and it will install and activate your rap/rif/edats for that account. To ensure it worked go back to your profiles and the ones named aa should be renamed to reflect how many files we're activated.

If you need to do it again simply change the name of the account back to aa and run the app again. I find PSN Patch easier as no sub secondary account it needed to activate them and it's one less app I have to have installed. Another main reason I use it is because I simply can use ReActPSN as my USB port closest to the BD drive is dead. PSN Patch doesn't care which USB port it's plugged into on the PS3.

If you need to reActPSN on another port, you can unself the EBOOT, replace all "dev_usb000" in the ELF with the usb name that you will use, then resign the EBOOT ;)

I don't plan to write anymore tutorials or dump klicenses due to not being a mod anymore, so thank u to whomever complained about me. sorry @Joonie , but by the looks of it, ur friend knows what's going on, if not check out gbatemp. ;

So if I have a full backup of the ps3 HDD before I reformatted it, how can I find the idps I used to download the content (I've changed CID and IDPS a few times since then) and also, how and what files do I need to extract and repack the pkg's that are already installed in the backup?

If You will inject act.dat to not match NP Account ID it will be deleted on next boot. There are patches for CFW to prevent this and maybe today all have it. But I doubt this will work. Better idea is generation license by tools like ReActPSN.

BTW: Your save's and trophies are signed to specific NP Account ID, so they will not work on another account until You resign them. Just FYI.

IDPS is not on HDD, it's wrote into NAND/NOR. You can read it by several tools, i.e by multiMAN.
Isn't You changed IDPS only in LV2 memory? I don't think so You changed it permanently

PS3Xtract by Kakarotoks. There is also topic on this forum so maybe You will help me with syntax as secured content creation don't work for me. ;)

So I there a way I can find the CID and IDPS from a save file I had on the account which I downloaded the dlc?
 
Not in save file.

From save meta data You can only read NP Account ID and as I remember PSID (not encrypted/compressed, just plain text).
 
Right, i have my IDPS which i used to download the PSN content (the official banned one that came with the console) by looking at 'system information' in Multiman. i have all the rifs/raps/edats from 3 different users..
so how can i make these work again on a new psid and idps?
i have a backup of the ps3 hdd with all the stuff installed (which im guessing you can repackage?)
and i also have a backup of the ps3 hdd before i installed them (bubbles in game column).
ive been trying to do this for over a year now but this site looks promising so im hoping you pros know what to do?
i've just completely wiped my ps3.

Was there a act.dat in your exdata folder along with the rif files?
