FunTuna (Free McBoot for Fortuna)

PS2 FunTuna (Free McBoot for Fortuna) v1 (r3)

  1. No!
  2. These are not mods, but apps!
  3. This has NOTHING to do with Funtuna...
  4. Did you understand what Berion wrote? Defragmenting 1 game would take hours!

Because Funtuna has mods with different options

FunTuna is Fortuna exploit + loader for FMCB + FMCB + few ordinary applications. It have nothing to do with defragmenting and any other features provided by additional apps (which are not anyhow related to FunTuna).

Defragmenting on USB 1.1 speed, and especially on environment with 32MiB of RAM is inefficient as hell to the point when it's pointless. Defragmenting of few GiB of data would take entire day. The only defragmenting which have sense more or less is MCFS defragmenting but... It is a LOT quicker to copy data outside, making full format of it, and copy data back. Defragmenting HDD is also pointless as it would be risky in APA logic. As You can see, defragmenting data on PS2 on any media doesn't have any sense.

I tested it, and it fully works thanks for the hard work man, I have a question tho... can I change the OPL ver that comes with Funtuna? And pick any other custom one.
Thanks!

Just replace the one placed in mc0:/BOOT/
Always remember to go to the FMCB Configurator and hit "Save CNF to MC0" so the timestamp goes back to the future!
Do that every time you edit the contents of mc0:/BOOT/

Hello, I am using Jolek's FunTuna and wanted to ask if the current version displayed on the page is the newest one? Also, HWNJ, the timestamp didn't go back into the future and OPL is somewhat bugged due to that. I'm not sure what should I do...

If you want you can check Unofficial FunTuna ver4.

This unofficial package has:
* - Only in a full version

You can change timestamps with:
https://www.psx-place.com/resources/wlaunchelf-4-43x_isr.1112/.
Watch a video at the bottom how to do that.

I now have to add the v4 @jolek has just released!

Also, HWNJ, the timestamp didn't go back into the future and OPL is somewhat bugged due to that. I'm not sure what should I do...
OPL has no relation to the timestamp, so there should be another issue.
If you pasted the PSU using the provided uLE, the timestamp should be OK.

Cool! I'm going to update it now! Thank you so much for the explanation!@Jolek and @HWNJ, you both rule! I brought a capture card and an OSSC, and I've been thinking about making a video in Portuguese and another one in english about FunTuna. This will help me a lot!

I'm not sure if you understood me correctly due to me not explaining it correctly. What happened was that I was confused and didn't knew how to change the timestamp in the OPL file, just like @Jolek predicted. I literally just replaced the OPL file on the 'mc0:/BOOT folder', changed FMCB and clicked "Save CNF to MC0" without changing the timestamp like the tutorial on: https://www.psx-place.com/resources/wlaunchelf-4-43x_isr.1112/. That, I assume, caused a bunch of issues with IGR on OPL that weren't happening before.

By the way, @HWNJ, I've been also using your POPStarter Game Installer for OPL to play Fear Effect 1, and I must say it works beautifully with both OPL and Funtuna. Thank you so much for your work! I really appreciate it!

UPDATE: I just installed the new full version of the Unofficial FunTuna provided by @jolek. I've used MC Annihilator to format my Memory Card and then I followed the tutorial and I psu pasted FunTuna. I'm experiencing these two issues with v4:

1. OPL name in OSDSYS (inside FCMB) is different from the actual name in the mc0:/BOOT folder (So it isn't showing on the menu);
2. I cannot save FMCB's CNF to MC0. FMCB is resetting to the original settings everytime I launch Funtuna or reset the console (This wasn't happening on Unofficial v3);

I then proceeded to copy from Mass and paste into mc0:/BOOT an OPL 1.1.0 that shares the same name with the one in OSDSYS (instead of rename it, cuz I didn't remember how it was written) and FMCB recognized it. I launched OPL and then the game SSX 3 (SLUS_207.72), and the IGR problem still persists and it's neither booting me to FunTuna nor OPL (not sure if this is a bug with OPL 1.1.0 or it has something to do with FunTuna).

Plus... you just need to hit "Save CNF to MC0" and it will set the proper timestamp

As I said, it is an OPL related bug!

I am not sure but there might be some problems with your MC...
Do you have an original 8 MB memory card or a 3rd party?

Here is how a new entry for OPL v1.1.0 in FREEMCB.CNF looks like for v4:
Code:
name_OSDSYS_ITEM_2 = -= Open PS2 Loader v1.1.0 =-
path1_OSDSYS_ITEM_2 = mc?:/BOOT/OPL-v1.1.0.ELF

The same name has OPL (OPL-v1.1.0.ELF) in BOOT folder.

Everything shows fine on 2 of my consoles (SCPH-70004, SCPH-77004).

Made an account just to post here. I tried installing FunTuna today but with no success. When running WorkingULE.ELF the PS2 froze in a black screen.

Ended up installing FreeTuna just fine. My PS2 is a model 9000, no modchip, no previous software mods.

Thanks!

Just replace the one placed in mc0:/BOOT/

Just don't launch the Browser (OSDSYS) with the memory card inserted or it will corrupt the file system.

I'm waiting Funtuna to work from Slot 2 / Port 1, thank you...
Hi i am also curious how to achieve this (funtuna MC at slot 2 / port 1)
I tried to put funtuna mc on slot 2 with my main card at slot 1 but it wont work. select mc2 in browser, quit quit, then it just showed launchelf instead of funtuna fmcb screen.
Did some quick search in psx-place, maybe i just missed some important info but found nothing useful
