PS3 [IDEA] Enabling Individual Gameboots for each emulator/system/homebrew

The plugin also enables the animation.

Why not simply resign the sprx provided by DeViL303?

I'm not at home :P

So i just zipped the files i have on my dropbox hehe.

The animations AFAIK is done by the rco, the sprx has just the sound patch, i say it because on my first time on hen, just my rco enabled the gameboot and animations, the sprx just added the sound.

I didn't replaced my sprx with Devil's nor added in /tmp folder, maybe the one i got from Sandungas have it patched too? but i'm 99% sure i got the animations just with the rco.

Maybe is just me, but im curious about the pink elephant on the room

Can someone explain how are you going to identify the app/game booted ?
Keep in mind you can only identify it after you press the dualshock cross button in the icon. And the time in between that button press and the animation is just a fraction of a second

I forget to tell you, but your sprx is signed with 4xx keys, need to be 3.55 or below to work on HEN. ( i noticed it in the first test build)

Thats why his console got a kernel panic.
Doh. My mistake. Thanks for letting me know.

The sprx seems to just need the one patch that enables both the animation and the sound.

I did spend quite a while trying to get the animation enabled without the sprx patch using the oninit field and onactivate field in the rco. No luck so far. But I did gain some more rco knowledge in the process so the time was not wasted.

This only works with stuff mounted via webman mod for now, so there are limited homebrews it can work with such as Reload XMB and stuff like that.

In theory we could have individual game boots for each category on the XMB, but that would be more work so its only an idea really. So in that case if the user is in the TV category then use TV style gameboot etc, I think it would be possible to detect category like this via icons or queries accessed but those are tests for another time really. That might also require some extra code in Cobra to detect the category, not sure really.

I managed to solve the problem resigned the sprx to 3.55, everything works perfect now .. thanks LuanTeles. I share the file in case someone else wants to try it ...

Thanks for the report and file, sorry for the mix up there. It's hard for me to think of everything.

ps1_rom.bin = PS3 (v5.0 06-23-03 A)

Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.....PS compatible mode by M.T

PS20190AC20030623.conf,
PS20190AC20030623.ps3ps1.bin,
kuma@rom-server/~/ps3ps1rom/PS20190AC20030623.bin.dir

0190AC20030623 < v1.90?

Seems to missing audio support that makes it usable as a normal BIOS,
maybe a PSOne BIOS from a PS2 similar to PS1DRV?

This thread is not related to bios modding, if you want to get into that kind of stuff make a separate thread please.

I thought you wanted to customize everything, boot logos as well?

No, Someone else can do that if they want. Its completely different to these rco mods.

After trying a lot in HEN I noticed some things, the ps1 gameboot always appears by default if it could be changed to be the ps3 one.

Most of what is used outside of webman should be with that logo.

The ps2 gameboot does not appear since when executing the iso in hen it must be done with the homebrew ps2 classics placeholder and the ps3 logo appears.

The rest works as it should

You mean the white "PS" logo I guess? its not really a PS1 logo, just means "Playstation" , that logo is used on PS4 a lot too. The PS1 logo is color.

That PS logo is used here as its kind of generic and used for all apps when nothing specific is mounted. As it does not make sense to use the standard "Playstation 3" gameboot for everything, like you say PS2 launchers, PSP launchers etc.

I will not be changing anything to suit HEN really, sorry. I will leave that to HEN users and modders. I have enough on my hands with CFW stuff.

sorry typing error the logo is from ps4

Yeah, its used everywhere though, the PS button, ps1, ps2, ps3, ps4, ps5. Vita, PSP. Just on PS4 it got used on its own a bit more than usual so it gets associated with ps4 more.

My hope is that by adding these gameboots, it inspires some people to make even better mods, and hopefully some of those are aimed at HEN users.

Don't worry, I know HEN is very limited. What you did with this mod is great. I will be waiting for the new version. I'm a fan of retro consoles. It is what I use the most on my PS3. Having a gameboot for each console would be amazing .. Greetings and thanks for continuing to support this console ...

I think there is a little glitch, for example after loading the PSP game, and we don't play the game, when playing PSN games, the gameboot will use the PSP one, not the PS3.

BTW overall it's been very good.
Thank you @DeViL303 and @aldostools.

Because webMAN is doing the job, when you mount the PSP game the webMAN applies a little patch that enables the PSP gameboot, if you don't launch it and launch another app instead, the webman is not aware of it, it assumes that you are going to play the PSP game.

Currently the mod has this little limitation, it will only patch the gameboot if it is mounted by webman.

You'll be able to tell the difference for Retro XMB Creator made titles?
I use it for PSX since it gives you the config options under IRISMAN, just a shame
it doesn't support multidisc.

Unfortunately no, this can only with games that interact with webMAN MOD

It would be really cool if we could have this work for all games and all back up managers. Implemented at FW level somehow. But I do not think it is possible in any reasonable way really.

There would be hacky ways to do what you want in theory. Like if you hid all apps from the XMB with an XML mod, then had new XML entries made for each one on the root level of the game category that used webMAN to launch them directly instead, but its not really viable. Maybe there will be a way someday.
