PS3 ManaGunZ - PS3 Backup Manager by Zar v1.41

Just noticed an small detail... it seems the fonts are deformed a bit in managunz, i know because when using the font SCE-PS3-SR-R-LATIN2.TTF (from seurat familly) in photoshop the character O is a perfect circle... but in managunz is an oval
So it seems managunz is stretching the fonts horizontally making them more wider than it should
It can be seen in this image, the O letters should be a circle

-----------------------------------
The "NewRodin JPN" familly in its 3 variants (light, bold, and regular) are the oldest ones by ID (0, 1, and 2), was included even in pre-retail PS3 firmwares http://www.psdevwiki.com/ps3/Talk:XMB_Fonts
I think is the font used in PSP, is labeled as japanese but i noticed includes some special characters (the Ñ and Ç for spanish and i guess others for european languages)
Could be nice if you use NewRodin globally (except for korean and russian) replacing the actual seurat versions, NewRodin font looks pretty cool and gives an "official" look to the interface

Additionally... could be nice if you add a setting to allow the user to choose the font from the official ones (NewRodin could be the default, except for korean and russian)

------------
All this are small details though, keep the idea or take a note somewhere about it incase eventually you decide to make some changes related with it. I guess you are busy with other managunz features, so dont worry about this much

Tiny3D allow to set the height and width size font. Arbitrarily, I chosed the same value for both. I already noticied the width value was too high but I never fixed it. I think there is probably a way to find the native coefficient : R = h/w inside the ttf file...

I'm adding it now to my todo list to not forget it anymore.

Changing the font is a good idea but I think it will better to include this option inside Theme settings.

PS : i'm really tired lately, so, as always with me, be patient for next update :p

Hmm, i have no idea where to see the original font proportions, i guess should be specifyed somewhere in the .ttf header
I said to change the default font by the one i like most because i think most people will like it too, but you are right, now i think in it is better to use for default something more generic (like the one you are using in 1.28, is very standard) and allow to change it as part of the theme settings

I think the most accurate way for the font selector is with 2 settings, something like this:
font family ---> seurat/newrodin/whatever
font stye ---> regular/bold/light/italic/whatever

Is going to be a bit more complex to implement it this way, but is just an idea incase you make some function to get the font info from ttf header, i guess that info abut font family and style can be taken also from ttf header

No hurry with the next release, i have to admit im a bit excited with next version though
Time ago you said you was going to take a look calmly about the PSP support, but then appeared me reporting a few bugs and ideas about the interface, then the ps2netemu advances was published, then the bug reported yesterday for the ps2 patches, the fixed support for old firmwares, etc... probably im missing more things (included your experiments and the surprises you use to add in new versions)
Every one of these is a delay for the release of managunz 1.29... and maybe a new line in the changelog
I have the feeling managunz 1.29 is going to have the longest changelog of all versions :)

Suggestion for managunz v1.30

It could be handy to have a selection of game settings that applyes to all games of a type by default
Im not sure how to make this and can become complex, but the idea is if an user has a lot of games that follows some rules (lets say, all PS3 ISO games in USB) probably he has some prefered mount settings that he is going to use with all this games

So instead of being configuring the games one by one (by pressing triangle over each of them, etc...) there could be some default settings that could apply to them automatically

I can see the problem though... there are groups of games that could fall under different rules (because are different game formats, in different devices, etc...) so is not so easy to manage them, also to make something like this should be needed multiple configuarion screens for every format

Now while writing this im having an idea that could simplify it a bit
The idea is to add a new option under "game settings" named "apply this settings to all games of this type" (but in short), this way you only need to configure one from each group

This doest solves the problem of managing the groups, also, if the list of those groups doesnt shows in screen at some point the user will have not much idea what kind of "magic" is happening in the background and will be confusing, so if is going to be a list of specific groups it needs to be explained somewhere or it needs to be shown in some intuitive way

I'm not rly enthusiastic about this idea. I was thinking of it since yesterday and I think it can be confusing to allow the user to change it.

I estimated more than 90% of backup are working with the default settings, and I choosed the "best one" so changing the default setting will decrease the compatibility estimation (I don't know if i'm understandable)

Anyway, I updated the first messages with lot of screenshots. Also, I'm uploading the v1.29 right now.

kozarovv updated ManaGunZ with a new update entry:

Hmm, i thought you finally decided to include the 3 flow themes because this screenshot of "wallshow red" you posted
ui_flow-jpg.9399

But only is included "wallshow grey" (as we agreeded time ago because is the most "generic" and more people will like it because is a more "neutral" design), but because later i tryed to convince you to include the "survival" only i thought you changed your mind, heheh

So here are the other 2 themes i made for flow:
-"Wallshow red", is a variant of the "wallshow grey" included by default in managunz 1.29
-"Survival", is an aged room in darkness (i completly love this design)

Thanks for this great backup manager.
Just a notice: in the file manager the copy is much slower than in the multiman. Can you fix it?
Also can you add more option to create Ps2 Config? Just for example i tried to add the
0x3D,
0x1B,
0x15
values to Ps2 game but i cant :)

3D is always generated it's the config revision. It use the latest version.

1B is already included (1st column)

15 in psdevwiki it didn't says all the possible value of this param. Even if we know that 4 games is using the value "4". I don't know what are the other possible value of this param.
Still you create a CONFIG with this param by using the exe with the advanced tab : http://www.psx-place.com/threads/ps2-config-editor-for-ps3-cfw-users-by-zar.12918/

About the speed, thanks for the feedback. I'm aware of this, I'll try to fix it ;)

Some thoughts about this option:
Re-sign it re-sign every executable of your backup with the 4.21 keys.
Why not to use the 3.41 keys ?... or maybe even older, this way it should work in all cfw

Also, this is not enought to boot the game in an old firmware... is also needed to change the PS3_SYSTEM_VER on the PARAM.SFO (and to make a backup of it to allow the "restore" option like with the EBOOT.BIN)

Im not sure if im doing something wrong, but i tryed to use it in 4.46 cfw with a PS3 game in JB format, from internal hdd, that needed 4.55 firmware, booted using options payload(mamba)--->BDemu--->patch libfs(iris)
The EBOOT.BIN is patched fine when using the "resign" option, but the PARAM.SFO is not patched at all

Not sure if the PARAM.SFO was supposed to be patched at the time the game is mounted (without user interaction or advise, i dont like this personally)... or at the time the option "resign" is applyed (i prefer this one because user is conscious the game backup is going to be modifyed)

-------------
And a minor detail... in file manager, inside a folder... circle--->properties
At bottom appears the "info frame" with the only option available (circle icon) but there is not any text next to the circle button, i think it should say "Back" (like in the other info frame messages)

Hi. I have a problem with this, Managunz detects my bin/cue ps2 games like ps1 games, so I only can use config menu with ps2 isos but many games come in bin/cue CD format

Afaik, the config files are used with iso files, either standard ps2iso or encrypted ps2classics.
Note that there isn't a config file for every game. Moreover, applying patches using the config menu blindly on games that don't have known config patches is experimental & most of the time unlikely to bring result. Still, one could get lucky...

I just discover that widescreen patch doesn't work either. I tried it with Project Zero (pal), Managunz shows that the patch is active, but when I play the game the patch doesn't work, so I tried the same Iso with the same patch on PCSX2 and it works flawless

Are you applying patch by yourself? I noticed that managunz is missing patches for PAL version of this game.

If you are applying patch by yourself, can you post patch file here. Also calculate CRC of your ISO and post it here.
