PS3 NoPSN Apps

Yea his tools from me playing with it can only put stuff in the Game section of the XMB. You can just edit the SFO if i recall but doing thst you might as well use PS3Tools.

As for Netflix I will go over my settings tonight to help others. My time has been so limited lately. I finally got Attack on Titan and its still sitting in the shrink wrapper.
Hmmm only the game category? That is an annoying limitation...

Admittedly I am using a very old build of his tools and it has been a while. I recall using it to make a second older build of Movian as the new 5.0 isnt compatible with the older 4.x plugins. I like his tools better as I was having issues with Win8.1 as the key expired and I couldnt install the needed DLL files for ps3tools so I chose his. Maybe see if there is an update to them or maybe try manually changing the SFO and such prior to re-pkg'ing the app in question.

Well it's not a problem for me really, there are other ways.
I use the latest version of the repacker & no type of repacking (fast/custom..) will accept AV in the param.sfo. It gives an error & abort repacking...

Thanks that is a helpful tidbit of information. I havent really done anything as of late. Not a lack of wanting to just no time. I really feel lost at times and I have been focusing on playing with my PS4 for hacks. Off topic I know but I really wish Sony would add Vita support to the PS4. The connectivity far exceeds the PS3. It would be a better option if you ask me. Seems silly other then PS4 Link the two have ZERO ties to one another.

Yes I was trying to do a custom repack so the pkg would have exactly the same properties as the official pkg.
When made with PS3 Tools, the pkg works but some of its properties are different. For the sake of perfection I was trying a custom repack with trueancestor but AV is an issue... Duhhh..

Hi Everyone,

Obviously I'm new here, but not to the scene in general. I have an interesting situation with the NoPSN version of Netflix. Out of 3 different systems, one of them works perfectly with the spoofed 2.26, while the other two receive the network errors many other people are seeing. The one that works is on Rebug 4.78 with Cobra options enabled. It was never updated to 4.80 because everything on it worked properly.

I have tried at least a half a dozen different CFW options on the other two, including setting one all the way back to OFW 3.55, then starting fresh. I don't think the issue has anything to do with whether or not a console is banned because I'm positive that none of mine are. Two were downgraded with an E3, and one was purchased brand new with 2.70 OFW and never put online. I've switched back and forth between the 3 of them trying to figure out what could be different, and only one thing stands out so far: The "Device" information is slightly different on the one that works. The info is as follows

Working - Rebug 4.78 NoPSN v2.26

Netflix version
nrdapp 2014.2.0 / nrdlib 2014.2.0 / mdxlib 2014.2.0 / mdxjs 3.3.1-r94 / nrdjs v2.16.6

So there is definitely something different about the versions, but the problem is that while trying to figure out what was wrong, I have grabbed different copies of the Netflix app from several locations and have no clue which one I used on the functioning system. I haven't gotten to the point of editing files myself yet (mostly because I'm on Linux and many of the utilities are Windows based) but I'm definitely willing to help get everyone back to a functional version!

Just for info.
Netflix US spoofed to 2.26 works for me in Europe. It's running on Rebug 4.80.1 with Cobra enabled in CEX mode (I have not tried in DEX just yet). The console is connected via ethernet to router. No server errors.

@remedee
Have you tried to use wine to run ps3 tools?

I'll check myself in a couple days or so. never used the netflix app though. it's unlikely the patch is causing the issue. the app.sprx contains the config file for psn access, and all ur changing is that portion. if ur consoles rn't banned, I'd check the unpatched version just to see.

what I think might be happening is that multiple devices r receiving the same ip from the router, but that's just a guess.

@pinky I did check for IP conflicts, and I also tried connecting via wired and wireless connections. I'm pretty confident my network/router settings are okay. After a few different searches, I found a forum that suggested connecting to a different hotspot. Turns out that forum was referencing a similar PS4 error message, but using my phone as a hotspot didn't fix the problem either.

Honestly, at this point I really just want to figure out what's causing the difference in Netflix version/UI Build/SDK version info. I have one system that works well, and other means of watching Netflix, so I'm not at a total loss for entertainment. I would just really like to know why one works, and the others don't.

Here is a patched EU version of Netflix NPEB00874.
I tested it & it works great for me... Same as Netflix US spoofed to 2.26...
The app looks very similar despite using a totally different set of files.
I believe it's the same app but relying on a different framework, possible qt. I would need to investigate closer to be sure.
Anyway, it is a EU package v1.04 (not recent) which I patched for noPSN and spoofed to v1.13 which is currently the latest EU version.
This 1.04 pkg was handy and it works so I didn't look for a more recent release to patch.
I will make one if required but first let's see if this pkg helps...:tranquillity:

@bguerville The first thing that came to mind when I saw the older Netflix icon was 'if it looks stupid, but works, it ain't stupid." Seriously, though, your app works flawlessly! Thank you! I'm just baffled as to why it works. This is the Device info after installing your version:

ESN
NFPS3-001-7W69...

Software version
Release-411

Netflix version
nrdapp 2013.1 / nrdlib 2013.1 / mdxlib 2013.1 / mdxjs 3.3.1-r94 / nrdjs 2.16.6

SDK version
sdk 4.0.0-dev

UI Build
release-20160523_58-onyx

Well am glad it works for you.:wink new:
The icon is due to the fact that the version is not too recent (2013) but it doesn't matter so much as long as the server connection is ok.
As it is, I will probably get the latest version asap & patch it for you guys, this way you shouldn't have to see this icon much longer!

UPDATE:
I just checked with a more recent EU version (1.07). The app cannot connect to Netflix servers. The message is different from the one reported previously.
Here no servers can be found at all....

I suspect that all newer versions including the latest 1.13 will be similar. I will test anyway as soon as I can get my hand on the original 1.13 pkg.

Also I noticed that in 1.07 the qt.sprx file is gone & the files tree looks the same as the US app.

At the moment the most recent EU Netflix pkg that works is v1.04 spoofed to 1.13.
Am afraid you will have to suffer the old red icon...:wink new:

Let;s recapitulate what I found out so far.
I live in the EU. I don't use a VPN or proxy for these tests.
All packages used have been patched for no PSN and spoofed to 1.13 for EU & 2.26 for US.
Netflix EU v1.04 works but newer versions v1.07 and v1.11 give me server connection errors.
Netflix US v2.23 works.

Hmm I still haven't found EU pkg v1.13, I might have to get its url with Charles..

I used the application, but when playing content when it passes a few minutes, the ps3 is block and have to restart.
I tried with 3 different series and blocks with three.
I'm in Rebug 4.80

Sorry if my comment about the icon gave you the impression I was bothered by it. I was joking about the fact that I could tell it was based on an older version when I saw the icon, so at first it felt like 'there's no way this should work' :glee:

Not bothered at all! I felt the same thing as you when I first tested this older version. [emoji5]️

Looks like I missed an earlier question. I've tried to use Wine for several Windows apps, but usually run into dependency/DLL issues. I just went ahead and installed VirtualBox, then set up a Windows 7 VM. I got the Tools all set up, but haven't had a chance to look into the individual files yet. I'll try to find some time this afternoon (Central US-based).

Any tips on how to figure out exactly what it is about that one system that allows it to work? I vaguely remember reading about grabbing the apps.sprx, but I could be way off here. I'm just wanting to do a comparison of the working and non-working versions that are installed. I took a quick peek at the param.sfo for a couple of PKGs I have, but that wasn't very helpful. Thanks in advance!
