PS3 NoPSN Apps

I got my other ps3 over here now... Popped it on the different ISP here, and it's working perfectly on the old 2.19 USA NoPSN (with NP environment set to "invalid", of course). came right up like normal, and popped on a show, and it went from 480 to 720 to 1080, just like normal.. So soon I'll see about transferring over the exact files from it to my other ps3 (which has the "cannot connect to Netflix server" error -- the one where it shows 4 servers, and the top and bottom are green checkmarks, and the two middle ones are red Xs), and also, I think the key is, to transfer over the installed data for it. I am a software engineer and a coder -- so I'll dig into this and let you guys know! Does anyone know what I might run into trying to transfer the installed data from one to the other? There isn't any keyed encryption like Ps3 game saves, right? I am planning to install the 2.19 version on the bad ps3, having it "not work" -- then overwrite the installed data with the working ps3's data.

It's a good idea. I also suspected that an old install may already contain information that avoids the current Netflix initial setup failure...

It's worth investigating anyway, hopefully you'll find something useful... [emoji6]

I have changed files manually before in an existing Netflix installation & it worked fine...
If you had a problem, it would not be with encryption but rather with the database that may need rebuilt... It depends which file(s) get(s) changed...

An update. EU patched and found here still works. The freezing has ceased - very strange. But a new issue has arose. A 704 error the initial time I load and play something. Solved by logging out of Netflix and signing back in but just tonight it's started doing this during play or when one episode ends and another begins.
But it's still watchable. I don't believe netflix allow this BS. It's sure to cost them revenue.
Story continues!

So far I have tried the following:
(1) Copying the NPUP00030 folder from the working PS3 to the "bad" PS3 via FTP (I deleted the folder off the bad one first after installing the package. I even ran it once to get the error.)
(2) Copying the NPUP00030CACHE ^^^^ I tried it first with only #1, and (see below) got the "cannot use data from another Netflix ps3". I didnt't seem to get any errors from copying the CACHE folder, nor any change in behavior.

First I got an error that said something like "You cannot copy Netflix data from a different PS3 to this one". But it continued to load. It got the same Server error with 30 second countdown. So I took a look in the NPUP00030/USRDIR/APPDATA folder and there is a file "PSID.dat". So I tried the whole copy again, but this time putting back the proper PSID file from "bad" ps3. It didn't complain about using the wrong data on the ps3, but STILL has the server error.
Can anyone think of any more data I can copy over from the working ps3? To my knowledge, all the data the Netflix app would have (besides a "saved game", which there isn't one for Netflix) would reside in the "hdd0/game" folder. And the only folders that seem to pertain to Netfix are the two I mentioned above. I'll keep thinking and messing with it, but so far I can't get it to work by transplanting files over. I do have a Netflix entry with 25 meg of data listed under "Game Data" on the XMB.... but I think thats the data that I'm already dealing with in this "hdd0/game" folder.

We could be missing something not included in the installation directory... It could be located somewhere else...

Yes the 25Mb Gamedata is what you already dealt with....

I noticed something else.. After you uninstall the app, there is a leftover, look in saved data...

Sorry, no PC on holidays & just access to my nephew's ps3 (luckily on CFW!) so I cannot really investigate this... Hope you make progress! [emoji6]

I think save data has all your account info but could also be a flag of some sort, maybe look into custom saves. I don't know! [emoji14]

By the way, I noticed that when I do a "network test" in the Netflix app on the working ps3, it shows "Netflix Server 1", "Netflix Server 2", and "Netflix Server 3" -- all have a green checkmark. I think this is like the EU version (except that the EU1.04 version loads fine, but always says "Having trouble playing this video, try again later" on the "bad" ps3). Anyways, on my "bad" ps3, it shows something different -- i don't have a screenshot handy, but showed codes under the servers, like "Netflix Server AX-03" or something similar... it had codes for them all on the non-working one. I hope we can track down some "hidden" config files that will make some sense here.
Oh, here's another weird thing -- kind of a side note:
On my two recently verified working ps3s on Netflix (2.19 NoPSN USA), both are working fine... but, one weird thing thats been going on for ever is -- when I start one of them up, it loads Netflix and goes into the user select screen with no sound. On my other one (which happens to be the one I am testing with), after the Netflix spinning circle goes away and it starts to fade to the user select screen, it makes a LOUD sound. Like a synth drum, along with a synth note.... a big.... DUUUUNNNG sound. I always thought this was weird that one did it and the other did not, and both are on the same version. So maybe again, some kind of config file setting that.

I don't see any icon for Netflix saved data on the working PS3. Should I?
Well I think you should...

I will double check though as soon as I can because somehow I seem to remember a situation where I had no icon either.... But how & why?? Am not sure anymore...

In the meanwhile, I am glad you keep poking... [emoji6]

I dont think netflix saves data on "save data". Only place where I have seen save configuration of netflix is on "game data utility". I think the only app that shows "save data" (or in my case) is youtube.

Again, I dont know if there is some kind of hidden future...

No my mistake sorry, it's not in the saved data it's in game data. Duh... [emoji54]

It's the Cache folder!
The reason I got confused is that this cache folder doesn't get deleted when you delete the app. It gets overwritten when updating version however.
For EU it's NPEB00874CACHE & for US NPUP0030CACHE.
I have a feeling the answer could be there....
In this cache folder there could be a file which enables the App to work properly. Likely a file created during first launch because that's when this folder gets created.
Also you will see that some files are missing if first launch ended with server errors.

If my hunch is correct then there are 2 possibilities. Either the security is poor & a file (or more) can be copied from one installation to another to allow the app to work.
Or the file is unique & encrypted in which case it would require further investigation...

I also though the cache might be the key.. But if you take a look at what I posted a few messages back, you'll see that I already tried copying the cache (step #2) with no luck. As I stated, I didn't get any errors after copying the cache, but no change in behavior. I just read an article that sheds a small light on how Netflix works... Here's a couple paragraphs:
*******
When you open Netflix and hit "play," your computer sends a request to the video streaming service to locate the movie you'd like to watch. The company responds with the name and location of the specific server that your device must access in order for you to view the film.
----
Netflix's server names are written in a similar construction: a string of numbers and letters that include traditional airport codes such as lhr001 for London Heathrow to mark the server's location and a "counter" such as c020 to indicate the number of servers at that location. A third element written as .isp or .ix shows whether the server is located within an Internet exchange point or with an Internet service provider.
*********
I wonder if Netflix might be going off the mac address of the ps3? I haven't looked into this, but is it possible to spoof the mac address, to try this approach? They must be triggering off some identifiable data on the ps3 somehow. Oh, and just to double check, I might re-try my tests again, maybe NOT delete the old folders off the ps3 this time, just overwrite what's there.

It's exactly that test followed by a choice of Netflix server on launch that is of interest to us & we would like to bypass.

Deleting the old folder is probably not the right way to go here... Overwriting seems more appropriate.... It's also possible that only some files should be overwritten & not others... Trial & error process I am afraid.

If ever you want to spoof the mac, just use SEN Enabler instead of psnpatch...

Any of you guys running Plex without PSN? Whats the story?
I am not 100% sure but I think you can run Plex without PSN.
There's no patch I know of anyway.
Also iirc Plex might be discontinued as a pkg, no updates anymore.

As an alternative there's a Plex plugin in movian but you probably already know that....

The Plex NOPSN pkg works and streams correctly (albeit at 720p). I find it's better to use Movian and/or XMB.

Ok cheers. I will keep trying so, I cant get the No-PSN version of plex I have to work here. Not sure what Im doing wrong , at the moment Im just getting a error "Sorry, there appears to a problem connecting, please try again later". I need to stream to PS3's at other locations (over the internet) and I like the parental controls and GUI of Plex, and Ì like the fact I can have the same libraries, covers, layout across all devices/operating systems (keeping track of watched and unwatched, content ratings, Genres etc)

Just an idea about Netflix since it's erroring out on the 2nd and 3rd server maybe we can look in the sprx/prx for the 2nd and 3rd server listing and point it at the 1st, just a thought don't know if it's there or even do able

Hi, there. First, thank you all for sharing these no psn apps. Days ago, Youtube 2.05 was released, so is there any no psn app update for this, or maybe a spoofed version? I have version 2.03 installed, and since yesterday i'm getting update reminder

Just ignore it (use O) you should use it without problem. I also use an old nopsn patch, and it only reminds me in the start up
