PS2 [Open PS2 Loader] Game Bug Reports

Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy (SCUS-97124) must be run with everything unhooked, which means Unhook Syscalls, disable IGR and do not enable GSM.

Any problem with VMC, could be considered a problem with VMC alone, since it does not affect reading from CD/DVD. Do not forget that SMB mode is the highest memory consumer, so not being able to use VMC with only SMB is not necessarily an indicator of a bug...

Transfer modes are only applicable to the IDE HDD unit.

Sata HDDs too.

Btw as an alternative you could play from USB. This game is perfect from here too (it continuosly stream little chunks of data. Pratically it works the same from every device).

I don't know if VMC will work from USB, you have to try it.
I used to play this game from USB, but with another program: PS2ESDL (it just needs the synchronous mode to be enabled for this game).

I tried with PS2ESDL few weeks ago, and game freezes after 10% of completion, I tried X times to get past 10% but it always freezes after the fisherman's mission.

Are you using PS2ESDL 0.821 ?? Newer versions have some compatibility issues.

I have completed entire Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy game, thanks for help. Heres what I did, I played NTSC US game version with PS2ESDL 0.821 , named the file SCUS_971.24.Jak and Daxter - The Precursor Legacy.iso and placed it in DVD folder, then when I got in PS2ESDL menu I held down arrow, square and triangle to turn on mods, and pressed start while holding these buttons to launch the game, everyting like in one Reddit post execpt for using different PS2ESDL version. Thanks again for you help.

So you completed the game with PS2ESDL, which does not support VMC. So why not just use OPL, without VMC?

The useful bits of PS2ESDL were taken and incorporated into OPL. The late version had an earlier design of the IOP reboot mechanism, which was eventually copied and refined for OPL. Few people used it, so it made more sense to focus resources for everybody's favourite software instead.

OK, guys, are we finally close to 0.9.4? If not, does at least the current beta feature a truly improved compatibility or are there some regressions and it's a matter of swapping one working game for another?

I tried OPL without VMC also had freeze bug

Can you sum up your result?
I mean, e.g:
Code:
Title = Jak and Daxter - The Precursor Legacy
ID = SCUS_971.24
Media = DVD
OPL version = 0.9.3, 1406?
Device = USB?
Mode(s) = 1+3+6, 3+6?
VMC = Tried
Compatible = See notes
MD5 Checksum = ?
Notes = Game have problems with saving when VMC will be used.
It also crashes after fishing mission even without VMC.
Tried game with and without VMC.

ID = SCUS_971.24
Media = DVD
OPL version = 0.6, 0.7, 0.8, 0.9.3, 1619_DB-TA, OPL_1392_ifcaro_beta
Device = Kingston DT101G2 USB 2.0
Mode(s) = 3+6 (Blackscreen), 1+3+6 (Playable with freeze bug)
VMC = Tried
Compatible = See notes
MD5 Checksum = ?
Notes = Game freezes with and without VCM it can be played with modes 1+3+6 but can not be saved, however game is fully playable with PS2ESDL 0.821 with modes down arrow + sqare + triangle (Guess this sums it all up)

Sorry if I wasn't technical enough but I don't understand what most of terms you guys use even mean. I hope I gave you all the info you need.

PAL version too works perfectly with PS2ESDL and you shouldn't need to press triangle or down arrow, just square (synchronous mode).
All 3 J&D just need to press square.

Anyway you shouldn't have issues with OPL too. There must be some weird problem.

Title = Buzz! Junior - Ace Racers (Europe) (En,Sv,No,Da,Fi,Pl,Ru,Cs)
ID = SCES-55211
Media = DVD-5
OPL version = OPL 1641 Daily Build
Device = Sata HDD with third-party adapter
Mode(s) = Tried all modes
VMC = No
IGR = No
MD5 Checksum = 3b453aeb00484292f1f754edcad72b4f

Notes = This hangs just before the actual game starts, so you have to go through a lot of tedious setup every time when testing. All other Buzz! Junior games I've tried work fine.

Title = Klonoa 2: Lunatea's Veil
ID = SCES_503.54
Media = DVD-5
OPL version = OPL 1406, 1319, 0.9.3
Device = Sata HDD with both original and GameStar adapter,
Mode(s) = Tried MODE 1, MODE 2
VMC = Yes
IGR = Yes (doesn't work after game freeze)
MD5 Checksum = af79b03278c0e2333e29dcd625890ac9
Compatible = Yes with OPL 0.9.3 / No with newer revs

Notes: The game works perfectly with OPL 0.9.3. I had it with MODE 1 ON for solving some audio problems (sound missing/loops), MODE 2 also solved the problems, aside that the game works fine. With newer OPL builds, on a certain point, the game freezes the Ps2 (need to hard-power-off). I tried the 1319 and the issue was already there (I don't know on wich rev. it started).

@Sonic99 from another forum found it out: https://www.reboot.ms/forum/threads/opl-ps2-quale-versione.14223/#post-176741
He tested with different OPL versions using the Gamestar NA, I tested with the Sony NA + madiypower sata board.

If someone want to help finding out which rev. broke it. You have to start the game and rush for about 3/4 minutes.
You'll reach this point and when you hit that monster the game will freeze:

Media = DVD5
OPL = 0.6, 0.7, 0.8, 0.9.3, 1619_DB-TA, OPL_1392_ifcaro_beta
Device = USB
Mode = 3+6, 1+3+6, 2+3+6
VMC = Tried
Note = Tried other modes combinations but had no success launching the game, tried USB Advance, tried PS2ESDL 0.825 and 0821, tried running the game in USBExtreme and ISO format, PAL game gets stuck in white screen after boot, NTSC game shows loading ico for few seconds and game gets stuck in black screen, I never seen any compatibility list even mentionig this game, nor I remember fining any discussion online that mentions this game. Is it possible to play this game via USB?

White screen? That usually happens, when the files are not properly defragmented!

Also It happenede to me (playing from ETH) that games freeze in a white screen at boot or at some startup logo when the ISO was bad/corrupted.

@xnnonz If you haven't already, check the MD5:

PAL: 004eca51a215ec7c90c8d20afb8c2d27
NTSC: fc8f0dfe38eaa2d67746c0b41cd8d604

I just tried installing game via USBUtil v2.0 option game to ISO directly to my USB flash drive, and game started, I did that with NTSC-U version

For now I've tried this game on SCPH-70004 only through ETH with OPL 1392 (Ifcaro).
Game seems to boot without any compatibility modes, I can even start new game.

Previously you've copied ISO into DVD folder?
Can you launch OPL 1392 and check if you have enabled "Check USB Game Fragmentation" - ON, under settings.
If not, change it and "Save settings".
