PS3 PlayStation 3 Firmware Update 4.70 Now Live

Sony has released official firmware update v4.70 and as expected this is a minor update, However, Sony does this time around have a few features they would to tell you about in regards to Closed Caption Features on BluRay and DVD disc. Official Firmware v4.70 Changes:

• Closed Captions are now supported for the Playback of Blu-Ray Disc titles and DVDs. To display closed captions, select [Settings] > [Video Settings] > [Closed Captions].
• The style used for for closed captions, such as the font, size and color, can now be adjusted. Select [Settings] > [Video Settings] > [Closed Captions Settings].
  
• The name and icon for
  
  (PSN℠) have been changed to
  
  (PlayStation™Network).
  
• UPDATE: IDPS Stealer has been patch in 4.70

C'mon Sony!! Seriuously!!!??? Just "Close Captions" for BD/DVD? And not native MKV support from XMB or external subtitles on MP4 yet?

I think their devs spend too much time on Facebook, instead of adding real features.

All this "dummy" updates have one important thing that is no in changelog:
- Get PS3 scene alive.

Sony really should think before updates like this (ok maybe not exatcly this) always after dummy update sleepy scene start working hard. This also help community, and sometimes provide new features to our homebrews.

I updated the test build of IRISMAN 3.44 with the "fix" in the binary (instead of disabling the lv2 protection via the settings file)

I still need a lv2 dump to make a proper release... Unfortunately the dump provided to me by darkjiros was corrupted

Tried that but still get 8001003D: Insert the Following Disc errors every time I try to load Gran Turismo 6. (Only game on my hdd to test).
I'll just keep waiting and watching

 

Seems Kakarato's exploit for a legit HEN on OFW has been patched as well to my understanding.

It could be due the ODE patches... I noticed that the patterns changed a lot when I was porting the offsets... Joonie commented me that he thinks that they may need to be patched again for 4.70.

It has been patched out just as most thought it would. So the OFW exploit has been sealed shut for firmwares over 4.66.

Propably because encryption changes, idpstealer do exactly what name said. Stealing all your ps3 network traffic, and look in to it for idps. Now ps3 network use diffrent encryption than idpstealer, so program can't work as proxy/stealer because propably is dont coded to use new encryption protocol. I think after some changes to idpstealer is possible to make it work again. And for dev this not gonna be hard.
