PS2/PS3 Component Cable

Can anyone recommend an easily available component cable for the PS2/PS3?

Using a couple of these at the moment and they do the job, but the cables are flimsy as hell and get a pretty bad static sound depending on what's on screen / how loud the volume is turned up.

Not too bad once there's actual sound coming out, but annoying as hell when say using the xmb / ps3 browser or something.

I've seen some speedlink branded cables on ebay that may be worth a go, and possibly even 2nd hand official sony cables depending on what price they go for by the time bidding ends. Although I have a feeling the price may blow out on them, plus availability isn't exactly reliable.

Are they costly? Still only $20 for official PS3 ones at the local Gamestop. I have a pair still sealed for my PS2 but never opened it as it bought it to collect dust I guess as I got it from @tonybologna at PSX-Scene while 3.41 was still a "new" CFW.

I think the one I used to use before I got HDMI (for my Wii) was made by energizer and was universal Xbox 360/Wii/PS2/3 it could also be A/V, component or S-video

Dunno never had luck with anything third party except maybe the Madcatz stuff Sega handed over in the US like the light guns for the DC so I steer away especially for controllers.

Cables I bought were like $7 delivered. Speedlink ones are around $20 on ebay and look a bit meatier. (hard to tell from pics though)

The ebay ones I bought for the Wii were mint, no dramas with video/sound interference or anything. Looks spectacular on the CRT, horrible on the big screen. lol

Might try a few local shops and see if I can find something that looks a bit better quality.

I think the battery in my PS3 controller finally gave out, so looks like I need a new controller as well now. Good times.

Haha I just used the word meatier I found that funny but I have had a few PS3 remotes just crap out. I thought it was just a battery but replacing them had no success. Good luck hope you can find quality and value all in one.

I can't recall the name of a set I bought at Walmart some years back, but they had really long length, gold plating, it came with component and a charging cable for the controller. The cables are really beefy, and they are wrapped in black braid. I'll see if I can find em. I lucked out and they were a return that was opened so I got it for half price.

you can buy a new battery for a few dollars on amazon and feebay. Ds3 new are still pretty pricey. If your analog sticks are still in good condition, I'd go that route. Although if you play a lot of fps like I do, I have worn the shafts of the analog nubs clean through to where they broke off. I've done that on 4 ds3 now.

Yep. You bought that modded PS2 from me. I still miss the darn thing. You stole it from you with the price I let you have it for buddy.

This don't look to bad for the price. I'm still looking for the one I talked about above.

Do not take "universal" one. Any not finished connection will be quality of picture loss. Remember this is analog output, and any not connected pins will make video noise.

Component cable should have good isolation, also golden connectors are useful (because is analog). There shouldn't be any unused connector because this will be noticeable quality loss.
