PS3 sMAN 1.08n (by deank) - Adds new XMB Intergration Option, Improved ICON/SFO Scanning & more...

One of many legends in the PS3 Homebrew Community developer deank is back with a new progression of the sMAN plugin. We all know deank from projects like multiMAN, webMAN and now the sMAN plugin that has appeared to perhaps replaced (?) the original webMAN (aka webMAN Vanilla) project as now a new feature will allow you to choose between old style of "My Games" with the "XML" Mod, this option is off by default. As seen in the included pic in the release notes, the "XMB Intergration" can be toggled on/off easily in sMAN setup. The dev did not stop there with improving this PS3 Plugin in v1.08n additional details such as improved speed on scanning from external / internal hdd when extracting Game Icons / obtaining info from the PARAM.SFO can be seen with all details of this update

sman_xmb1.jpg

  • sMAN 1.08n is available:

    sMAN version 1.08n Changes:
    • Added [x] XMB Integration option in setup for people who like the older xmb/xml style (off by default)
    • Improved scan speed from ntfs/internal hdd when extracting icons/sfo
    • sMAN resources in /dev_hdd0/tmp/wmtmp/res will not be overwritten if exist (at least until the next version)
    • Supports up to 2000 titles (even in XMB Integration mode)
    • Still uses the same amount of memory (~2300KB free while idle)

    Dean

    • Developer: @deank
    • Type of Release: A PS3 Plugin for use with Custom Firmware : Such as a COBRA CFW or other CFW types such as (STANDARD) with the ability to boot plugins via external applications ..
    • Short Description: the sMAN plugin takes deank original webMAN plugin and adds the new slaunch feature also developed by deank and merges them into a single plugin that also gives the ability with all the original webMAN features developed by deank.

  • History of Changes

    sMAN v1.07
    • It can be either 10 or 40 games per page. Both layouts can be switched with [R3].
    sMAN 1.06n
    • Some important parts of the plugin are rewritten and optimized to reduce stack usage
    • Returned another 112KB back to fg vsh :) (2316KB free - was 1920KB a month ago without ntfs :) so about 396KB less used)
    • Changed sman.bin to support longer game names/paths/icons - a rescan will be initiated
    • Cleaned some code (about 1000 lines gone after the optimization)
    • Loading games speed improved (at least the perceived speed)
    • sMAN will show the name of the loaded game as popup message (not the filename)
    • sMAN is now properly unloaded when requested (no zombie or dead threads should remain)
    • It supports up to 2000 titles (games/bd/dvd) now

    sMAN v1.05
    • Use [L2+R2] to start sMAN
    • The sprx is bigger (but actually uses less memory) because it contains some glued resources
    • It will use standard PS1/PS2/PSP/PS3/Blu-ray/DVD icons when there is no proper cover/image available
    • This version of the plugin must be named sman.sprx and loaded from (in this exact order):
      • /dev_hdd0/sman.sprx or
        /dev_hdd0/plugins/sman.sprx or
        /dev_flash/vsh/module/sman.sprx otherwise it won't work.

    sMAN v1.02

    • Changed netiso/rawseciso implementation (external) - use plugin slot #0
    • Fixed crash when trying to load another PS1 title after one is played

    sMAN v1.01
    • Added "Setup" option in side-menu
    • Removed xml generation - no need for custom category_game.xml anymore
    • Removed xai_plugin/idle_plugin usage
    • Added x2 upscale for small images/covers (w/h < 336)
    • Added indication of current group mode (PS3 1 / xxx) under title name/path
    • Removed "My Games" entry from XMB - hold [START] to launch sMAN

Hi @deank
when I unplug USB hdd and then I make an refresh, then it should be displayed games on internal hdd only but I also see more games on usb hdd...It seems that the list of games does not update.

sman.sprx is updated. Along with the libntfs fix from earlier today, now sman will extract icon/sfo from network games (ps3 iso) during content scan. It means that after a "refresh" you will have all games properly detected with names/icons, be it from internal/usb/ntfs/net. Always wait for scan to complete fully. For 2000 PS3 games in ISO format with bare iso (i.e. no cover/image/sfo) it may take about 15 mins for the first scan to complete. After all is extracted the scan completes in just few seconds.

Also some more optimizations are in.

I put the updated sman.sprx on my PS3 (Slim). Restarted and allowed sMAN to scan until it said sMAN ready. Tried to open setup through XMB integration and the PS3 froze. Do you have to delete any of the sMAN files in wmtmp when updating the sMAN.sprx. If not I am not sure why it froze as the sMAN from yesterday was functioning fine.

That's how it is with ntfs usb hdds.

p.s. It should be ok in the last update. It is now possible to hot-plug/unplug ntfs usb hdd 3-4 times (depending on the number of partitions).
Now it's OK, the list is display properly, but I have an issue with FTP when copying sman.sprx on PS3...it took a long time and then asked to replace the file again in loop (FileZilla gives me a timeout error in the status window),so I had to copy sman.sprx with mmOS.
After I tried again to copy sman but still FTP timeout error.

Update the sprx. I'm also using Filezilla and don't have issues, but the other day I changed the response strings (which shouldn't matter, because only the codes are meaningful), but I guess your ftp client doesn't like it.

sman.sprx file size should be 422 668, but the transfer fails and I only 327.680
If use sman.sprx of 9 March FTP works well

@Dino05 I don't think it is sMAN problem. Restart your PC - may be your ports are blocked/used (in your case PASV mode tries to use port 54326 - 212*256+54). I'm using the ftp all the time (all day round) and it works just fine.

In the latest sman.sprx update the internal web server will use threads to serve files/images content. It will no longer hold the whole www client thread and will release the resources immediatelly greatly improving performance and stability. Until now if you download something big via the web interface and then try to browse games or refresh sman would lock, but not anymore..

There were some issues with displaying images/files from network locations (ps3netsrv) using the webbrowser but it is now ok. There are also some other minor fixes.

Update to sMAN 1.10n: http://deanbg.com/sman.sprx | http://deanbg.com/sMAN_1.10.zip

Network/ps3netsrv locations should now support about 3200 files (1600 ISO games + 1600 images for example).

p.s. sprx is updated again. If someone with a lot of network games can test it - let me know. I tested it with a folder with 9000 files and it handles 3200 to 3300, so it works. :)

It is not because the name is long (long names scroll horizontally). There is CR/LF in the name. Did you change the .sfo yourself or it is original?

I manually edited the xml and added 2 "new-lines" and the title shows in three rows, so that's the reason.

Well, you'll have to live with that. :)

I finished with all the changes/updates to sMAN 1.10n. Hopefully now it is a stable release and won't need a lot of updates. Of course if there are bugs reported I'll fix them.
alright no problem

arrggh..... Im getting a "fatal error --- quit" message in the top notification box with sMAN. last night everything was working fine, this morning I literally just turned on the ps and got the message... I've tried deleting the wmtmp folder , the xmlhost, rebooting, I even updated to 1.10n and still the same thing....the sMAN icon name appears but theres no folder and no icons

i had 1.09n running flawlessly and literally did nothing to the system, no change to icons...nothing. its named correctly and its in the plugins folder. I didn't install anything that would conflict and yes there are no other ftp apps in the ps. on the webpage I get an error 8071053d.

and the sman invisible icon will appear there whether sman is running or not! the only way to get rid of it is deleting the wmtmp folder!

here are the pics of the xmb and the page itself:
