it must be a different way of installing an edat then. my method doesn't create a ps3logo file. there's a ps3logo when creating a theme pkg though, but it's not installed, so it must be doing something like that. what is option 12 and 13 exactly?

option 12 pkg crashes when tryin to open with pkg view and when install in ps3 no edat in exdata folder.

option 13 pkg can open with pkgview and has edat and ps3logo. edat does install to exdata folder

i opened a duplex crack pkg and its a debug pkg and is similar to option 13 pkg
It crashes pkgview but does it crash also when you try to extract from context menu?
Also have you tried unpacking it with TAPR? And looking at the pkg info?

dont have in context menu. tapr says only packagetype debug and cid.

I meant the extract pkg context menu item from PS3 Tools collection. It's always better to have alternative tools...

And also try TAPR Unpack feature to see if the #12 pkg is corrupted.

i think pkg is fine its edat thats bad. i tested old edat made with taer and game unlocks fine

Aren't you supposed to prepare the edat with TAER then place it in the edat folder to be used with TAPR?

license edats should be either 352KB or 360-something KB. my method has them at 360-something KB, but games unlock fine. official edats r 352KB. true ancestor may more closely mirror official if there's a ps3 logo present.

thing is that in xmb after installing edat pkg the game title drops the trial if it has it and in options it says "cancel purchase". just when in game its still in trial mode

try transferring the edat with reactpsn, a zip, or manually to see if it's working. an official edat should work no problem.

the pkg type field uses License as its type. that's how it is with make_package_npdrm which a lot of these tools, including @aldostools ps3tools use, but I couldn't figure out how to repackage a normal edat. u can package a blank one. u only need the content id when it comes to edats themselves since they're generic.

well i know a couple of people who have the tool that does package them properly but they are not releasing it. sucks..

I think u can with make_package_npdrm. License is the correct content type, but pkging normal edat files is unknown to me.

No worries, it's a classic...
Part of the code just looks like a virus because it essentially behaves in the same way but to a very different end. [emoji6]
Add an exception in your anti virus/malware to get rid of the annoying consequences.

can't recall what @aldostools said, but he once explained y some of the ps3 apps give false positives. like @bguerville said, it's the way the app is being read by windows defender/chrome. add it to exceptions, so the detection doesn't pop up.

Well anything resembling a bruteforcer & patchers for a start will be flagged up immediately.

Note that AV software searches for patterns in the binary code that resemble certain behaviours that could damage a system.
Some of these behaviours which could be a security threat if applied to the system for malicious aims are also being used here but applied specifically to our local project files with no threat at all to anything. However the AV virus cannot take the risk...
