[TuT] Setting up PS2 PlaceHolder REBUG Edition (Controller Sync Fix for PS2 Games on nonBC Consoles

Thanks. I tried again and still no luck. Here is what I am doing, please let me know what I am doing wrong:

1. restore default settings (in safe mode)

2. I set up an aa user and then run reactPSN

3. enable PS2 Classics Mode with webMAN MOD

4. install Rebug ISO and Classics Launcher

5. convert iso to enc.bin using multiMAN

6. copy ISO.BIN.ENC to "/dev_hdd0/game/PS2U1000/USRDIR/"

7. start game from Rebug ISO and Classics Launcherr

8. sync controller with controller plugged into USB, then exit game and remove USB

9. disable PS2 Classics mode with webMAN MOD

10. Mount ISO using Webman and then run Playstation 2 Disc from XMB

However, controller won't sync except when plugged into USB.

Any help would be appreciated.

from now on whether it's an ISO or BIN.ENC always start from Rebug ISO and Classics Launcher (PS2 Classics disabled)

Thanks. That was the problem. I think it is working now. My controller now works wirelessly. Is it correct that I have to hit the PS button when starting the ps2 game and upon exiting?

It is how PS2 emulation was even possible on slims. All the resources (well most) that were used for the PS3 side of things is unloaded more or less giving more system power and resources to the PS2 side. It isn't needed for PS1/PSP as they aren't as resource hungry as emulating the PS2.

hmm seems i broke the placeholder. I accidentally had a real PSN (ISO.BIN.ENC) in my folder and i mounted that one by mistake. Well just as an FYI do not do that. LOL

It's breaks the placeholder and I have not figured out how to fix yet.

Error Code: 80010006
So far Re-activating placeholder doesnt work.
Re installing Placeholder does not work.

have you tried remounting a ISO.BIN.ENC encrypted by multiMAN (from multiMAN)

Well I just did the same to test and for sure bust it. Had to delete my Dev_flash2 and blue screen my PS3 and start over to fix it. Luckily I had mine backed up and could easily restore it. Shame you didn't have the same. Maybe (if you haven't already) place that in the tut for others.

Looks that may of fixed it. Thanks!!! (felt like i was on 3.55 CFW again without ps2 working :) ).

Ps2 Iso - to PS2 Classic - Mount and Launch and no more error.
(launching a Ps2 classic itself most likely would of fixed also, not sure)

I added a small note about it.

FYI: Joonie habib
(Launching a ISO.BIN.ENC (Retail PS2 Classic (not user created ones)) via placeholder will break the placeholder (at least for ISOs) )
I will make sure to get that one out of my PS2 folder .

I just suggest a multiMAN encrypted bin.iso.enc as it's encrypted with the same title id as placeholder (same as aldostools app)

ah you're talking about the one from psn store, that has different rif key that would break this work around..

Yea, i launched by accident lol .. Anyhow just gave you an FYI to let you guys know that is one way it can become broken.
(Rare issue as no one should be launching those like that anyhow :p, but nonetheless good to know :) )

I really don't understand why people messing up everything by using ps2 iso.... 3 clicks and you have game in xmb with better compatibility than on cobra emu. Or just convert iso with multiman to classic format, and manage/mount it from webman mod. And start from any ps2 launcher (rebug/placeholder). I don't watch your movie beacause it have too good quality for my internet connection. But i know that cobra emu don't see saves from original emu location. And is (not so hard) way to get old saves to work on cobra emu. But why..

Go to dev_hdd0/home/<userid>/ps2emu2_savedata/<TITLE_ID>/ folder there you have old save named SCEVMC0.VME. Copy this file to dev_hdd0/savedata/vmc/

Not sure you need to rename this file maybe someone more help you. But im sure after copy (and maybe rename) you need to rebuilt database from recovery. And after that just mount that memory card to port 1 and launch game. Not so easy? Use classics.

Edit: One more thing. I'm not tested this, is just speculation based on some knowledge.

well my save data for ps2 was psv because I play ps2 disc format on ps3 without use placeholder... so When the rebug ps2 launcher is released. I installed ps2 launcher rebug then
follow instruction step by step to getting it work and then game work with sync wireless cause my ps3 are non BC... my problem is my ps2 save is still there and ps2 launcher says no memory
card found of different games
how can i fix this?

hi, I'm going crazy I have installed on my ps3 CECH2004 the CFW rebug rex 4.70. I followed these instructions to the letter:
1.Install placeholder and activate the rap file for classic via reactPSN
2. Go to multiman normal mode and click on iso
3. Convert ISO to Classic [ISO.BIN.ENC]
4. Use mm filemanager [mmOS] , look for this path "/dev_hdd0/PS2ISO/<gamename>/"
5. Copy or Move ISO.BIN.ENC to "/dev_hdd0/game/PS2U1000/USRDIR/"

6. Create a flag file named "classic_ps2″ via mmOS [file manager from multiMAN] or, go to XMB and use webMAN "MOD"'s toggle; press SELECT+L2+/\
7. Run the game from npdrm legit/placeholder(depending on the option you chose) and maintain one stable sync, this is important to write proper sync data in registry.
8. You can safely close the game, and start mounting PS2 ISO via webMAN

but nothing I can not sync my controller with the PS3 when I start the games iso ps2 Webman. Please help me. I have backup xregistry from rebug toolbox.

Your PS2 Classics Placeholder hasnt been activated or you didnt launch the game under PS2 Placeholder...

My advice is: leave the ISO.BIN.ENC in PS2ISO, mount it via webMAN and then launch through PS2 Placeholder icon...

This method must work...
