[TuT] Setting up PS2 PlaceHolder REBUG Edition (Controller Sync Fix for PS2 Games on nonBC Consoles

i activated my ps2 classic placeholder and i mount ISO.BIN.ENC via webMAN and then laugh through PS2 Placeholder icon. I try with PS2 lunch rebug but nothing. The led of my controller flashing but after them switch off. :(

Then your PS2 Placeholder isnt activated yet or neither launched via PS2 Placeholder. Because its responsible for contr. sync...Have you tried different games or only one? And maybe you should try another CFW..expl. Habib Starbucks...

But yesterday and today I have tested PS2 Classics under Rebug and under Habib too...I didnt face any issue or bug...

For first initial sync you must use USB charger cable

On Rebug it doesnt sync...neither after USB cable...

I have tested it half hour ago with GTA Vice City...not converted...PSN PS2 Classics...

try "Restore Default Settings" in Settings/System Settings and start the process from the beginning (Note: you'll have to set up your PS3 again)

DO NOT "Restore PS3 System" as it will format the internal HDD

:) Thanks Bubba, i will try it..but before this..yesterday on Habib Starbucks 1.02 Beta!!! everything went good...worked the new "via webman" and the old "installed only ps2classics game only the game and activeted only the 2 .rap" method too...

I think its Regugs issue...

But its not problem for me...i am only testing...

I have a CECHC with jailbrake too...;)

let me know the result and if it's an issue with REBUG we can make sure Joonie see's it :)

A USB cable is not needed at all.

Restore Default Settings helps a lot for those users that can't get it work and try the method from A to Z.

Is not a Rebug issue, in fact is an user issue. BTW he got it work on Habib v1.02 Beta because it has the improved ps2_netemu that don't require the classic_ps2 flag

If its my fault in your opinion...please tell me what i am doing wrong? I have played many many ps2 classics game by this time converted and PSN too...and I always could get it work...

This happened to me once. I forgot how i did it. I think i launched an encrypted PS2 Iso (PS2 Classic) as i had it in my ISO folder by mistake. That caused the same issue for me when I did that. For me Re-Installing firmware fixed the issue

I have a multiMAN encripted file that I mount with webMAN start it up with placeholder to sync then I can mount any ISO and they sync just fine

NOTE: I do hope y'all remember to ALWAYS start PS2 games through placholder from now on and not disc icon

I think that is what i did a PS2 Classic from disc icon (forgot to mention that part). It was a while back i think right around the first controller sync fix with the Rebug placeholder. before was on 4.46 and well was used to disc icon.. but i know it was a ps2 classic, but yea makes sense ti would been disc icon.

Nonetheless a CFW install should fix..

1. Firstly restore your settings to default from XMB
2. Install Placeholder and active the .rap file with PSNPatch (or reactPSN if you prefer)
3. Open multiMAN in normal mode, click on an PS2ISO (ripped from your orginal disc or downloaded from web), and convert it to Classic (ISO.BIN.ENC)
4. Use mM file manager to go to path: "/dev_hdd0/PS2ISO/<gamename>/" and move the ISO.BIN.ENC to "/dev_hdd0/game/PS2U1000/USRDIR/"
5. Be sure to have Cobra and webMAN active via Rebug Toolboox
6. Use webMAN MOD toggle SELECT+L2+triangle in XMB and a notification will popup saying PS2 Classic is enabled
7. Run the game previously converted to Classic (ISO.BIN.ENC) from Placeholder (not the PS2 disc icon) and maintain a stable sync without an USB cable, then close the game (It is important to maintain the sync with Classic, otherwiise it will not sync with an ISO)
8. Use webMAN MOD toggle SELECT+L2+triangle in XMB and a notification will popup saying PS2 Classic is disabled
9. Copy all your ISOs to "/dev_hdd0/PS2ISO/"
10. Mount an ISO with webMAN and run it always with Placeholder (not the PS2 disc icon)

Enjoy!!!

4. Use mM file manager to go to path: "/dev_hdd0/PS2ISO/<gamename>/" and move the ISO.BIN.ENC to "/dev_hdd0/game/PS2U1000/USRDIR/"
actually this step is not needed or needs to be altered as multiMAN will either automatically move it or you can have multiMAN mount (move) it by clicking on it in the Retro column

I do it that way and its working like a charm. Also the main post specified:
4. Use multiMAN filemanager [mmOS] , look for this path "/dev_hdd0/PS2ISO/<gamename>/"
5. Copy or Move ISO.BIN.ENC to "/dev_hdd0/game/PS2U1000/USRDIR/"

Important:
Restore default settings and maintain a stable sync with Classic, otherwise it will not work.

Yes but my way is quick as you don't have to enter mmOS or exit multiMAN as it exits after mount. Plus if you don't have it already it will give you the proper save file needed for Habib's newest sync fix (for me it never found a MC when I mounted through webMAN)

I did it on Rebug 4.65.2 when the method was released. I upgrade to Rebug 4.70 a week or so ago and mounting ISO without the need to re-do steps :D For MC I created one (MC utility). Anyway the important thing is that it works. Maybe what you say will be needed for Habib's newest sync fix.

So did I all wrong? :D ;)

Thank you i did these points except the 6. but I think it was activated(webMAN setup said) and I only wanted test a PSN ISO.BIN.ENC not a PS2ISO...

Untill I resurrected my CECHC I always used the Debug Settings and Rogero 4.46 Cobra for playing PS2 games...it is max. 5min every time you change the FW...and its much easier...;)

If you want test/play ISO.BIN.ENC not PS2 ISO. Then just take ps2_netemu.self from any non cobra cfw (or OFW) 4.70 and put into /dev_flash/ps2emu/ using manager that can write ps3 flash (every modern file manager can do this, but you need to enable dev_blind or similiar). Then your pads sync without problem on ISO.BIN.ENC. But you completly lose PS2ISO compatibility.

Edit: I forget is Rebug quality :) Just install REBUG TOOLBOX 02.02.04 FULL and change emu to Original. To make ...ENC work with sync.
