PS3HEN [Tutorial] [PS3HEN] The Great Ps3 HEN All in One Guide

I read the rules, and I was asking what's wrong with the guide because I follow it but I still have a problem, how should I ask then?

Posting stuff along the lines of "I downloaded a game..." doesn't get you any help here.
We don't condone, partake, provide nor support piracy in any way.

As for the guide... All steps are working correctly for me. I referenced it only last week to HEN a friends console

Ok, I'm sorry if I did a mistake

Ok man, I'm really sorry, I was so frustrated because I did everything as the guide said, but when I try it give me black screen that's why, please forgive me, and this is my first time, and I was on a rush.

The best thing you can do to learn how to boot games is to try with several games... i mean dont try with only 1 game because maybe the game files have a problem and is going to drive you crazy

And welcome btw :)

In a old PS3 model (manufactured before 2010 or so) you can install a standard CFW and it will give you more freedom, but initially is not needed because HEN is fine (and eventually HEN could grow to something better, is still under research and experimenting stage)

Incase you decide to buy a CFW compatible PS3 model, i suggest to dont buy a fat, are not hard to find but some was abused and in general are more hooter and noisy than slims

Wait, is not so simple, there are some PS3 slim models that are not compatible with CFW
Before you start looking for it you need to take a look at how are labeled the PS3 models (all retail PS3 models starts with CECH???? ... that question marks is what matters)
Also, you need to read about how it works the "datecode" (or "manufacturing date")... is a code printed on a sticker in the PS3
Based on that 2 things you can know is the PS3 is compatible with CFW

There are 4 PS3 slim models
CECH-20xx <--- all them are compatible with CFW
CECH-21xx <--- all them are compatible with CFW
CECH-25xx <--- some are compatibles with CFW, and others are not
CECH-30xx <--- not compatible with CFW

I understand the second part, but what did u mean by "datecode" or "
manufacturing date?

Is explained here with some photos:
https://www.psdevwiki.com/ps3/Datecode

For USA region the sticker mentions "manufacturing date" (literally, you can read it in the sticker)
And for the rest of the world it says "datecode"... with a code composed by number+letter
The number is the last number of the year... and the letter is the quarter of the year (3 months each quarter)

The limit for CFW compatible PS3 models matches with datecode 0D or so (last quarter of 2010)
And this happened when they was still producing the PS3 model CECH-25xx
This is why some CECH-25xx models are compatibles with CFW, but other CECH-25xx are not

so in short, I have to find one with CECH-20xx - CECH-21xx and the datecode 9D or lower, for best experience?

0D or lower
If the PS3 is a CECH-20xx or CECH-21xx you dont need to worry about the datecode because all this ones are compatible with CFW
Btw, some people refurbishes then in parts so the stickers of the shell could not be relliable, this is hard to know, try to have some confirmation from the seller

There is a way to know for sure if is CFW compatible but is needed to run a tool named "minverchk"
Most probably you are not going to have a chance of running it in the PS3 before buying it or ask the selller to do it, but im mentioning just incase

quick question this can be used to get any games, dlcs, etc. through official psn pkgs, right?
how risky is this?
what if i were to go online using dlc installed through a pkg? would that be super risky? thanks in advance

i mean, has anyone had any success doing something like this?
edit: i'm sorrry, i know i'm asking stupid questions but i am a stupid person so that's why lol

Hey guys, I'm trying to install the HFW, but I don't have an official dualshock 3 anymore so I can't use safe mode to update. Can I update from the XMB or is that going to brick me or something?

So my PS3 is at 4.84 by default. When i try and update with OFW from the first step, on a thumbdrive it tells me can't find any updates. Should I just start from the HFW step?
