Hello!

I dont get activating? I used to run with HAN and there you had to dump ACT.DAT and IDPS.HEX. Now I dont need to dump these files to the usb and save on the computer anymore?

The guide is super good but it just says activacte in PSN then for PSN packages that you activated right?

Im just a read instruction guy.

It was the case last year for HAN as you needed your act and idps to resign raps.
HEN has an auto activation feature, so instead of resigning in your PC, it's all done on the ps3 automatically. As long as the correct RAP is in the RAP folder on usb or hdd0, but to do this, you need to activate your ps3 to generate the act.dat needed to resign. Hense the need to activate.

The guide is geared towards someone who's never done it before, so it covers all the right areas needed for HEN. If you activated already, no need to do it again

I had same problem. Go to (set as homepage) www.**ps3xploit.com >Domain no Longer owned by team** (ps3xploit.me =new) on ps3 browser, click hen on top left corner and use the alternate method.

I have a SuperSlim on 4.82 and followed your old tutorial in the past for HAN exploit. So, is there any benefit updating to 4.84 and exploit using HEN?

hi i am from indonesia.. i have ps3 iso games.. sorry about my question, but if i want to copy them to my PS3 HDD, what format external HDD or flashdisk i can use, depend on my iso game size (more or less 4GB)?
its better if i no need to split them

If you installed it correctly there should be HEN's icon on the XMB, If you don't see it you most likely didn't install it right.

First of all I want to thank you for your thorough tutorial.

I have a PS3 Slim Model 3xxx and have tried following the tutorial but when trying to upgrade to 4.84 (from 4.83), this error shows up:

"No applicable update data was found"

I created the folders in the USB as said in the tutorial PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP, I formatted the USB drive to FAT32 and the program that is suggested says USB is already a MBR Disk. I've searched online before posting here just to make sure, where it was suggested that I try on recovery mode, but the error is the same. I have also tried different USB hubs and different USB sticks.

Anyone let me know what I'm doing wrong?

You can go straight to HFW 4.85.1 which will eliminate the extra step of installing 4.84 first. The problem you're facing could be a corrupt .PUP since it would appear that your USB drive is set up correctly to be read by the PS3. As long as your USB drive is visible under the Photo, Music and Video columns on the XMB, then it's set up correctly.

In case anyone stumbles into the same problem, use a USB 2.0 and check out for partitions in the USB.

one more question... if i am update my HFW from 4.85 to 4.85.1, does it affect to my homebrew like irisman, Hen Enabler or everything like that? i mean, do i need reinstall them again after HFW update?

i am upgrade from 4.85 to 4.85.1 with flashdisk directly from xmb system upgrade menu.. after upgrade system info still said that 4.85 but without package manager and hen enabler menu.. is that normal?

it will always say 4.85 whether it be ofw, hen, or even cfw. can't add more text for that in the vsh without corrupting the file. it might be possible to do what the psp does for spoofing, which is use a txt file to show firmware version, but I believe you have to make it yourself, so maybe that wouldn't be so useful. another possibility is something like luma 3ds where you change the version string from ver (ofw) to sys (cfw). as you can see, both have the same number of characters. it's trickier to do that with the ps3, because all sony has is the firmware version.

The system doesn't distinguish between the two - OFW 4.85 and HFW 4.85.1 are one and the same as far as the PS3 is concerned. In fact, they are both OFW with no modified files within them. HFW simply uses the silk_webkit.sprx file from OFW 4.82 which is exploitable. You still need to exploit the PS3 after installing HFW, either with the flash writer for CFW or with HEN if your PS3 does not support CFW.
