PS3 webMAN MOD 1.47.12: New Auto PS2 Config / Support for boot_init.txt (like a "autoexec.bat" script)

It appears that developer @aldostools is back in full force currently as we have seen the dev add new support with 4.83/4.84 DEX Support for webMAN MOD. While also Incorporating a few new features into the popular plugin as well. This powerful little plugin contains tons of functionality (feature list below), With this new release of v1.47.12, we now see a couple of fun new features have that have been introduced to the plugin as well.

For nonBC consoles owners, that use the webMAN MOD plugin to load and mount PS2 ISO will be pleased to know that developer Aldostools has added improved support for PS2 Configs with new automation and detection of PS2 Config files, like what we see in @Zar's ManaGunZ backup manager. Also another fun feature with some potential for various uses has been been support for boot_inif.txt, This feature is an automation feature (like a "autoexec.bat" script) that includes support for various commands outlined (see tab below). Some uses Aldostools has outlined have included the ability to backup important files at system boot like Game Saves, Registry Backup, Logs, ect,,, Swap Files, Remap multiple files/folders at startup, System clenup and/or initialization on every boot. For additional details about these newly added features please revert to the corresponding tabs below.

  • About: "Auto CONFIG" for PS2 ISO
.A new feature in webMAN MOD 1.47.12 with the objective of increase PS2 compatibility to a similar level of ManaGunZ

This build now detects the game id for the PS2 ISO and automatically looks for the corresponding CONFIG file in ManaGunZ folder or in the wMM updater folder /dev_hdd0/game/UPDWEBMOD (if it haven't been deleted by the user) when the game is mounted.

Added new setting: "Auto CONFIG" in /setup.ps3 (next to the option PLAYSTATION®2, in the section "Scan for content")

Now webMAN MOD looks for the CONFIG file in the following paths (in this order) when the PS2 ISO is mounted and the "Auto CONFIG" is enabled (only if the PS2 ISO doesn't have a CONFIG file already):

    • /dev_hdd0/game/PS2CONFIG/<gameid>.CONFIG

    • /dev_hdd0/game/PS2CONFIG/CONFIG/CUSTOM/<gameid>.CONFIG
    • /dev_hdd0/game/PS2CONFIG/CONFIG/NET/<gameid>.CONFIG
    • /dev_hdd0/game/PS2CONFIG/CONFIG/GX/<gameid>.CONFIG
    • /dev_hdd0/game/PS2CONFIG/CONFIG/SOFT/<gameid>.CONFIG

    • /dev_hdd0/game/MANAGUNZ0/CONFIG/CUSTOM/<gameid>.CONFIG
    • /dev_hdd0/game/MANAGUNZ0/CONFIG/NET/<gameid>.CONFIG
    • /dev_hdd0/game/MANAGUNZ0/CONFIG/GX/<gameid>.CONFIG
    • /dev_hdd0/game/MANAGUNZ0/CONFIG/SOFT/<gameid>.CONFIG

    • /dev_hdd0/game/UPDWEBMOD/CONFIG/CUSTOM/<gameid>.CONFIG
    • /dev_hdd0/game/UPDWEBMOD/CONFIG/NET/<gameid>.CONFIG
    • /dev_hdd0/game/UPDWEBMOD/CONFIG/GX/<gameid>.CONFIG
    • /dev_hdd0/game/UPDWEBMOD/CONFIG/SOFT/<gameid>.CONFIG

For convenience of the users, the updater includes a copy of the database of CONFIG files from ManaGunZ (in case the user doesn't have ManaGunZ installed). Credits to @Zar and everyone who have contributed to maintain the database of CONFIG.

If the PS2 ISO already has a CONFIG associated, that file is used without having to perform the aforementioned search.

  • About: "boot_init.txt" for PS2 ISO
.I have been experimenting with a new automation feature for webMAN MOD.
This is a sort of "autoexec.bat" script for PS3 that allows to copy/rename/map/delete files when the system boots up.

The file name of the script file is: /dev_hdd0/boot_init.txt
and it currently supports the following commands:

    # or * at start of line for remarks
    map path1=path2 <- makes path1 point to path2
    copy path1=path2 <- copy path1 to path2
    ren path1=path2 <- rename path1 as path2
del path <- recursive delete of folder or file
md path <- creates a path (folders are created recursively)
wait path <- waits until 15 seconds for a file or folder
abort if exist path <- abort the script if a file or folder exists
abort if not exist path <- abort the script if a file or folder exists
unmap path <-- unmap current path

abort if R1 <- abort the script if button R1 is being pressed
abort if L1 <- abort the script if button L1 is being pressed

Example: The following script *mutes* the coldboot sound at start-up :)
    map /dev_flash/vsh/resource/coldboot_stereo.ac3=/dev_flash/vsh/resource/AAA
    map /dev_flash/vsh/resource/coldboot_multi.ac3=/dev_flash/vsh/resource/AAA
This example is already included in /dev_hdd0/game/UPDWEBMOD/USRDIR/boot_init.txt
It should be moved manually to /dev_hdd0/boot_init.txt if you want to try it.
Other uses for the script are:
    - Auto backup of important files at start-up (e.g. registry, saves, logs, etc.).
    - Swap files
    - Remap multiple files or folders at start up
    - System cleanup and/or initialization on every boot.
    - etc.

The lite edition of webMAN MOD does not support this automation script
Info for devs: The new code is found in main.c, lines 3682 to 3727.
DISCLAIMER: The feature is still experimental. Use it at you own risk.

  • In this build also the start of PS3MAPI server (port 7887) requires the option "PS3MAPI" enabled in /setup.ps3. That option is found in "XMB/In-Game PAD SHORTCUTS", next to DEL CFW SYSCALLS. If the option PS3MAPI is "disabled", the PS3MAPI server is not started (saving some resources at start-up). That PS3MAPI service in wMM is mainly used for the remote features of the PS3 Manager API tool, which is an optional replacement for CCAPI.

Note: When the option PS3MAPI is "enabled", the syscall 8 / lv1_peek (used by Cobra) remains active when the CFW syscalls are disabled with R2+TRIANGLE (except when psnpatch is used in conjunction, which removes all CFW syscalls -including syscall 8). The syscall 8 uses a "fake disable" and all disabled syscalls can be restored without reboot.

I have experienced network issues not only with FTP, also with the HTTP server.
If I reboot everything seems ok again... it seems to be an intermittent issue, because it does not happen all the time.
I noticed this issue more frequently on 4.84.1. Not sure if it is an issue of CFW or if it related to webMAN....

EDIT:
My hypothesis: as 4.84.1 now starts faster due it not longer calls stage1, webMAN could be trying to use network before the network is fully initialized. With stage1 there was a small delay that could be cause the difference.

You could verify if you have the same issue with 4.82.1. If not, maybe I'll need to add some delay before start the plugin, go give time to the network to be prepared.

EDIT2:
if you add this line "wait /dev_kozy" to /dev_hdd0/boot_init.txt the system will wait about 15 seconds (because that file does not exist and it will timeout in that time) before it continue to start the network servers (http, ftp, netsrv, etc.). It could be used to test my hypothesis ;)

That is a good theory as to why it's not working on COBRA 8.01, however I'm experiencing the ftp server not working on 4.84 PASTA CFW, with MAMBA 3.1.4. Any ideas?

If IRISMAN is running with FTP server enabled and using port 21 when it starts up, if webman is configured to be loaded, it will not be able to start the FTP server because IRISMAN is already using the port 21. When you exit from IRISMAN, the FTP server of webMAN will remain disabled because it couldn't start when the plugin was loaded.

To avoid this issue, disable the FTP server in IRISMAN or change the port to 22 or 2121 pressing SQUARE button over "Initialize FTP server" (if FTP is running, you will need to stop it first).

So now can i play PAL games with 60hz? And screen settings? (To remove the black bars like the movies)

That is a feature of Cobra. webMAN only calls the Cobra functions to mount the games.

Here is a quote from Joonie about the issue:
Joonie; post: 161083 said:
COBRA patches this on the fly depending on the region of the PSX Title but VSH won't automatically switch the supported resolution, so it has to be done manually. This works 80% of the time so this may take more than once to fix it.

To remove the black bars use PS/PS2 upscaler in Game Settings of XMB.

I wasn't using IRISMAN, as it doesn't work on the firmware I'm using (black screen when launched. I believe Joonie has already mentioned this). I restarted my PS3, & the ftp server on webMAN seems to be working fine now. I'll let you know if the issue occurs again, & I'll provide as many details as possible.

@kozarovv I compiled this test build with a delay of 2 on start up, so you can test the FTP issue.

Download: https://www.sendspace.com/file/ens8cy

In this test build I added some new commands to boot_init.txt:
- if/elseif/else/end commands for conditional execution
- popup to show a popup
- beep/beep1/beep2/beep3 to sound the buzzer
- lwait <path> waits 10 seconds for <path> / wait command now to waits only 5 seconds (not 15)
- swap <file>=<file> exchange files

Also the leading spaces in the lines of boot_init.txt are now ignored and fixed an issue with boot_init.txt saved using PC format (CRLF).

Note: Nested blocks of "if" commands are not supported.

Sorry guys, but need some help here.

Is Webman still able to run games directly off a NTFS external HDD? I can see the content (games) stored in the HDD via setup (files) menu (games stored in PS3ISO), but the games doesn't show up on XML menu (only those I transfer to internal HDD shown up).

Irisman could detect the games but couldn't load without transferring to internal HDD.

Did I missed something or did something wrong?

Thank you.

The full edition should be able to navigate the files or list directly the games in NTFS.
If for any reason webMAN don't see the content of your NTFS drive, you always can use prepNTFS to scan the content.

I am using full version webman (hold L1) during installation and I had run prepNTFS 1.12 but still the games doesn't show on XML menu. So I am not sure what had I missed out during the setup process.

So this is what I could see. Just couldn't get the games to be listed on the XML menu (from the NTFS External HDD attached). Tried few HDD and SSD from WD, Seagate, SD, etc.

I see you're using REBUG edition. can you try installing the full version?

webMAN MOD Full version. you need to press L1 to do it when launching the installer.

[Hold R1 for VSH Menu, L1 for Full Edition, X for Lite Edition]

I suppose I am already on the full version (unless I make a big mistake)?

^ if you see [Rebug-PS3MAPI] then you're using REBUG edition.

Sorry my bad. Was installing and reinstalling to see if I could get it to work. Guess that picture was taken when I was trying out lite version.

Seems like I might have missed something very important so it couldn't work for me....

Looks like now you're using Full version. so now go to Games, then refresh both "XML" and "HTML" it will take a bit. then reboot your PS3 after it's completed.

Tried, but still wouldn't appear in the game list. Maybe I will try to reinstall the CFW to see if it helps. Couldn't figure out what did I missed or did wrongly.

By the way, it takes about 1-2 mins to fully scan your contents. So you have to wait until all the sub menus show up after it finishes scanning.

Also, the size limit on external HDD is up to 2TB. and it must be MBR not GPT

I waited till the XML reset asked me to reboot the system and used the link to reboot system.

Yup, I am on a 2tb seagate ntfs drive (MBR). Webman could see the drive must just wouldn't list the games inside.

Thank you for your help.
