@aldostools I came up with an interesting idea to improve the appearance of the psp launcher but I do not know if such an operation is possible for ps3 and WMM.
Set the default value show psp launcher to enabled in setup/ps3.
Because I have noticed that they start games with this value, they start directly from the pspgames in wmm section and not psp launcher in xmb.

Hide this section in wmm

and if it is possible to prepare such a version of the psp launcher that will not be visible in xmb. Just like PS2 config.pkg, If it is possible.

What do you think about that? This will reduce the number of launchers in xmb

Thank you for your feedback... I'm not sure if I get your idea... Let me explain why I implemented it as I did:

The PSPISO require a PSP Launcher to start. The ISO cannot be launched from a disc icon as PS1/PS2/PS3.

The PSP Launchers are placeholders without the game (like PS2 Classics). When a PSP Launcher is launched, Cobra redirects the file access of the emulator to the ISO.

There are 2 kind of launchers: Mini and PSP Remasters. Each use a different PSP emulator mode. Both are needed.
The emulation mode is determined by the category PE or MN in PARAM.SFO. These categories are listed on XMB. So they cannot be invisible. (note: There is a way to change the emulation mode but that requires to use custom MINIS.EDAT)

The game column in XMB has different display modes (All, by Album and by Format). Depending of the display mode the PSP Launchers can be in different places (hidden inside a folder or in the main column).

For Auto-Play automation, I need to find the PSP Launcher in a fixed location (not variable depending of the display mode). To solve this problem, both PSP Launchers are listed under the folder "PLAYSTATION®PORTABLE". That way, webMAN and the user can find it easily (at the cost of have it duplicated).

A possible workaround to hide the PSP Launchers would be editing the category_game.xml to exclude these title ids, but that would involve some modding that I find unnecessary.

Any chance of a screenshot of the sMan gui coverflow? Haven't got access to ps3 for a few weeks so I can't try it out but I am curious :-)

Added MOVIAN.ISO launcher to start it when system boots with Disc Auto-Start
Also is there more info on this? Curious again but relatively new to ps3.

Great work!

It's a pity I thought you could physically hide the psp launcher in xmb, but it would work in the background on disk. I came up with this idea because with the show option psp launcher in setup / ps3 games launch in psp launcher directly in the PLAYSTATION®PORTABLE category without going back and running directly from the psp launcher in xmb. I thought you could do a psp launcher in the form of "data" and add them "game data tools" or "saved data tools (minis / PSP Remastered / PSP)" like ps2 config which is in games but is not an application in xmb.

also i use this psp launcher, is official by cobra and it work witch new function autolauching by wmm. I dont see difference betwen PSP_Launcher_Fixed.jjkkyu.pkg and PSP_Remaster_Launcher_Fixed.jjkkyu.pkg games run that same and I did not notice the difference in quality and compatibility.

Here is an interactive demo of Coverflow GUI (intended for PC, Tablets & Smartphones)
http://demo.aldostools.org/

The sMAN GUI is a different web based user interface (for PC and PS3):

The MOVIAN.ISO is a modified version of PKG/ROM Launcher converted to ISO that allows to auto-start directly to Movian when the PS3 starts using the official option Disc Auto Start of the PS3.

1. Download and install Movian

2. Download MOVIAN.ISO and copy it to PS3 as /dev_hdd0/PS3ISO/MOVIAN.ISO

3. In PS3, go to Settings column, open the System Settings menu and turn On the option Disc Auto Start. Read the following article for further information about that option:
https://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps3/current/settings/discboot.html

4. Go to http://127.0.0.1/setup.ps3 and put a check mark in the following 2 options:

5. Reboot.
The MOVIAN.ISO should be mounted as a "disc icon" when the XMB is loaded and after a few seconds the disc will be launched and MOVIAN will be loaded.

The same method can be used to auto launch RetroArch and any homebrew signed as retail SELF (it doesn't work with npdrm selfs or EBOOT.BIN).

Most of the backup managers (multiMAN, IRISMAN, ManaGunZ) can't be launched either because they unmount the /dev_bdvd when they start, unloading MOVIAN.ISO and returning to XMB.

PSP Launcher.pkg

There is no difference in compatibility. jjkkyu's version simply adds support both right sticks and adhoc party.

The official PSP Launcher only use an emulation mode (I don't remember if it uses by default the MINIS emulation). jjkkyu has launch for MINIS and other for Remasters. The compatibility varies depending of the game. In general, the PSP compatibility is bad (almost 50% of the games are unplayable or have issues).

Yep i know i test very games form psp wiki but still many good game can by run it on ps3. Coming back to the subject is the possibility of realizing my idea or rather not feasible?

It's a pity I thought you could physically hide the psp launcher in xmb, but it would work in the background on disk. I don't think the PSP Launcher can be hidden because:
1- The categories PE and MN are shown on XMB (unlike GD or SF categories).
2- You need an icon to start the game: in PS1/PS2/PS3 it is the disc icon; PS2 Classics/PSP minis & remasters need a launcher.
3- Using a category different to PE or MN would make the launcher unusable.
4- The games icons listed in PLAYSTATION®PORTABLE, are shortcuts to mount the ISOs. They can't start the launcher directly because the launchers are npdrm apps. I only can launch directly retail apps (e.g. MOVIAN.SELF or RELOAD.SELF).

The current version of webMAN MOD supports custom MINIS.EDAT and MINIS2.EDAT if they are stored in the same path of the ISO, with the name of the ISO as prefix.

It is feasible to use a centralized database like PS2CONFIG, but first we need to compile the working MINIS.EDAT, then I can implement it. It would require to add additional steps to get the game id, then seek the corresponding .MINIS.EDAT in the PSPCONFIG database.

BTW Here are 2 small PSP Launchers that are only 333KB each. These installers are so small that can be included in /dev_flash if you want. They are basically repacks of jjkkyu's "Fixed" versions. Only the icons were changed and lambda.db was removed.

The lambda.db is an encrypted ISO of 10MB that includes the PSP emulators from OFW 4.00 (psp_emulator.self and psp_translator.self). Early versions of Cobra USB mounted that ISO in /dev_moo to allow to use the PSP emulator from OFW 4.x in Cobra 3.55 for improved compatibility. At that time the keys of 4.x were unavailable publicly. The selection of the PSP emulator (opcde 0x9752) was removed from Cobra 7.x since current CFW already have a later version of the PSP emulator.
