XMB Manager Plus mod 0.23.000-mod by aldostools for COBRA!

This is a fork of the official XMBM+ that I originally developed for personal use on 3.55 Kmeaw.
Now I adapted the category_games.xml to work with webMAN + XMB Manager Plus on COBRA 7.0

Easy install on Cobra 7: (may not contain latest version of XMBM+)

or

Manual installation
1. Install a Cobra CFW. - (XMBM+ can be used also on non-Cobra CFW.)
2. Install multiMAN 04.66.08 (or later if available) - http://store.brewology.com/ahomebrew.php?brewid=24
3. Launch multiMAN, go to Settings column and enable the option "Write access to dev_flash" (it's the 2nd option from bottom)
4. Go to multiMAN's mmOS (File Manager) pressing [Select] + [Start] buttons
5. Copy webftp_server.sprx (version 1.41.x) to the root of /dev_hdd0/

Official version of webMAN-MOD by M@tsumoto and aldostools:
https://github.com/aldostools/webMAN-MOD

Use PRX Loader by u$er to launch webMAN manually on non-Cobra CFW:
http://store.brewology.com/ahomebrew.php?brewid=243
(use new_core from Estwald to auto-start PRX Loader on system boot)

Latest webMAN MOD versions are available here:
http://store.brewology.com/ahomebrew.php?brewid=257

Latest official versions are always here:

6. Copy the included boot_plugins.txt to the root of /dev_hdd0/
7. Copy the included category_game.xml to /dev_blind/vsh/resource/explore/xmb/ (do not edit this file unless you know what you're doing)
8. Reboot.
9. Install the included xmbmanplus_hdd.pkg
10. Enjoy XMBM+ on COBRA 7.0!
NOTE: For support of /PS3ISO, /PSXISO, /DVDISO and /BDISO content on external drives with NTFS file system, install and execute prepNTFS.pkg

You have to use prepNTFS if you add new content to your NTFS formatted USB HDDs.
Do not forget to use [Refresh XML] / [Refresh HTML] to refresh webMAN's data.

How to update XMB Manager Plus (mod)
1. Click the About option in XMB Manager Plus mod for the update option
2. If there is an update, you will be prompted to download the file (Save in the downloaded pkg in the root of the USB drive)
3. Install the downloaded pkg from Install Package Files
4. Refresh XMB launching any application (eg. BD Reset) and returning to XMB.

Thanks to:
  • DeanK for the awesome webftp_server.sprx
  • COBRA's lead developer for the release of the unofficial Cobra 7.0
  • user for PRX LOADER
  • Team XMBM+: andreus(coding), bitsbubba(coding, themes), DeViL303(coding, POC/WIP) ps3Hen (coding, 4.00 port), aldostools(coding), CloneD(themes), Berion(logos)
  • dreamcat4 for the suggested .xml method and exofreak for his POC release of launch games through XMB using webMAN.

[MENTION=89]aldostools[/MENTION] or [MENTION=29]Joonie[/MENTION] can you possibly give a really quick explanation of how rebug toolbox enables/disables webman, does it swap the category_game_xml somehow or patch it or break a link or something? im a little confused :)

I can only get webman XMB+ to show up on retail xmb for some reason. Ive added the following to both of the game xmls :
Code:
<Query
				class="type:x-xmb/folder-pixmap"
				key="game_xmbm_hdd0"
				src="xmb://localhost/%flash/xmb/game_main.xml#seg_xmb_hdd0_app"
				/>
			<Query class="type:x-xmb/folder-pixmap"
				key="game_webman1"
				src="xmb://localhost/%flash/xmb/webMAN2.xml#seg_webman_links"
				/>

But for some reason webman XMB+ only show up on the retail XMB..but XMBM+Mod shows up on both :( Maybe I have another typo in there. :)

I see, but then what i dont understand is why the duplicated pkgs happened to me because i never installed a pkg from inside a backup manager (im still in rebug 4.46 lite with iris 2.93)
Or are you telling that is a path relink made when the backup manager boots (even if you dont use any of the backup manager package installer related features the path relink is made) ?
There is some reliable way to reproduce the problem ? (is enought with entering and quitting any BM?)

Some versions of Cobra and MAMBA map /dev_usb000 to /app_home. IIRC this code was removed in the recent versions of Cobra/Mamba.

So even if don't use a backup manager to mount the pkg, the redirection could still happen.

A reliable way to reproduce the issue is enter to multiMAN's mmOS (file manager) and click to install a pkg. Then return to XMB and use XMBM+ File Manager to navigate /app_home and /dev_bdvd
You will see the same files in both devices. Then open the XML where you have Package Manager and remove the query that shows /app_home. The package should be listed once, unless the pkg was mounted from the root of one of the usb devices.

I would like to have a more simple way to replicate the problem, something anyone can try in a easy way

webMAN is enabled/disabled in Rebug renaming /dev_rebug/vsh/module/webftp_server.sprx.bak to /dev_rebug/vsh/module/webftp_server.sprx and viceversa.

The file category_game.xml is not touched. Only /dev_hdd0/xmlhost/game_plugin/fb.xml is deleted to prevent the list of webMAN Games on XMB (/dev_hdd0/xmlhost/game_plugin/mygames.xml)

category_game.xml has a query to the segment seg_fb in /dev_hdd0/xmlhost/game_plugin/fb.xml

Code:
			<Query
				class="type:x-xmb/folder-pixmap"
				key="xmb_my_games"
				src="xmb://localhost/dev_hdd0/xmlhost/game_plugin/fb.xml#seg_fb"
				/>

Trivia: "fb" means "facebook". deank used a modified version of the xml made by Exofreak for his POC (which originally listed facebook on XMB), when deank implemented mounting of games directly from XMB in webMAN 1.07, but for some reason deank didn't change the segment name (or forgot to do it).

The duplicate listing may happen when using BD Mirror on backup managers (including Iris Manager, IRISMAN, GSM, multiMAN, manaGunz, etc.)

When a game is mounted with BD Mirror (aka "BD Emu" in Iris Manager), the folder /PS3_GAME is moved to the root of the device (e.g. /dev_usb00x) and the root of device is mounted as /dev_bdvd and /app_home. In that case the duplicate (or triplicate) pkg files occur due the queries in ★ Install Package Files or ★ Package Manager that list the root of /dev_usb00x and /dev_bdvd

The easier way to reproduce the issue is with multiMAN's mmOS as I explained earlier. Alternatively you can use webMAN MOD 1.43.26 and call the new command /remap.ps3/dev_usb000&to=/app_home

webMAN is enabled/disabled in Rebug renaming /dev_rebug/vsh/module/webftp_server.sprx.bak to /dev_rebug/vsh/module/webftp_server.sprx and viceversa.

Thanks, The "fb" thing was what was confusing me, I was just ignoring it thinking it was unrelated. cheers

Lots of activity in this thread in the past 24h. ☺
Always nice to see a collective effort..

Am not sure about repackaging all the mods as PUP though.
I have made 2 CEX CFW manually for personal use recently, for testing & learning purposes. They work great but I would not release it. Even with a disclaimer.
For now at least, I prefer to leave this to more capable hands...

I agree, I was just messing around really to see if it could be done, it is nice to do a system install/restore and see XMBM+Mod and webman XMB+ there on the XMB. It also gets around the problem of having to reinstall FW if someone accidently deletes XMBM+ Game Data, at the moment if someone deletes the XMBM+ game data it breaks XMBM and if you don't have an app installed to write the files to dev_flash then you have to reinstall FW to get the ability to install package files back, same with Webman XMB+.

EDIT: I dont think its possible to do much damage just messing with the xmls/rcos, Ill leave the heavy modding like coreOS ,.SELF etc to the more capable hands.

Well the only files from /dev_flash that need replaced if you add/remove xmbm+ are the usual xml files:

category_game.xml for all cfw (except rebug 4.78.1)
category_game_tool2.xml for dex
category_video.xml (in some cases)

If those 3 files are renamed with a bak extension (or whatever) then it's easily restored. No need for cfw reinstall.

Additional changes to rco & sprx files would just add to the problem but the same backing up process can be applied...

Yes but the problem is being able to replace/rename those files if you delete XMBM+ game data, because then you have no way to install an app to fix it, so only way out is FW reinstall unless you already have an app installed that can enable write access and replace/rename dev_flash files. Try it, delete XMBM+ game data with no other apps installed.

You mean the xmb games column is useless so you cannot launch a file manager?
The other columns are fine? The xmb doesn't freeze?
Am not home!

No, I just mean that if for example your kid deletes your XMBM+ game data, and you don't have a file manager app installed like multiman that can rename files and enable write access to dev_flash, then you have no way to get out of the situation except to do a FW install. Its not a real big deal as most people would have multiman, but for someone who just has webman and XMBM+ and then deletes the game data they are stuck. So in effect its a way your kid could break your XMB with a simple push of triangle and X :)

but with the XMBM+ files built into dev_flash, if a kid (or an adult) even formats the whole HDD at least the XMB still works for installing packages. ;)

Another way to explain it is: if you have XMBM+ installed as it is now, and you do a system restore you are stuck in the same situation, no way to fix the xmls..

Unfortunately wMM doesn't let you rename but you can copy files. So instead of renaming all you need is a copy of the original. Even if you don't have a backup you can extract it from PUP.
If webman is installed all you need to do is launch the browser (on PC, on PS3 or even phone), go to setup.ps3 enable /dev_blind reboot & use wMM file manager to copy your files.

Of course you could make it easier by using the ftp server from wMM. Direct access to /dev_blind, from anywhere you can rename, copy, delete whatever...
That's what I do.

If you wanna avoid reinstalling cfw it's your best option.

Well yeah then your right, if that can all be done on a freshly formatted ps3 with just XMBM+ installed then my mistake, I thought at least one app would be required to get dev_blind access and copy files but I am a bit out of touch. So much can be done now without anything installed, its great. although it seems your method still relies on WMM game data ?

Either way I don't think its a good situation where the XMB can be broken by deleting some game data, for your average end user who might have just wanted to do a system restore, installing ftp app and setting it up, renaming files, extracting pups, enabling write access etc is too much hassle, they want the easy life. :)

IMO the best and safest option is to keep the ★ Install Package Files in category_games.xml even if it is redundant with the Package Manager of XMBM+

BTW wMM allows to rename/move files using the http command /rename.ps3<file_path>|<new_file_path> or /rename.ps3<file_path>&to=<new_file_path> (in 1.43.26)
Or using FTP as you mentioned.

webMAN MOD doesn't need any game data. It only requires the sprx stored in any standard device (hdd0, usb fat32, flash), Cobra or Mamba enabled and a line in /boot_plugins.txt or /mamba_plugins.txt respectively with the path of the sprx. All the other files are optional.

The files on the PS3 can be accessed directly via FTP using Windows Explorer without having to install any extra application. Just type ftp://ip-address-of-ps3 and enter the user/password

Yes, keeping install package files is a sure fire way to solve the issue of broken XMB if a user does a system restore/format, for example. because WMM will not work in that situation as far as I can see.

EDIT: ah ok, didn't realise the other files were optional. now it all makes sense.

So as long as WMM is enabled then there is no chance of breaking the XMB by deleting game data/formatting.

Also I agree with you, that is one of the reasons why I have always wanted to keep the original package manager.

Yes true but most people don't know the commands or don't remember the syntax ...
I should have been more precise, the file manager GUI doesn't support renaming atm!

The other files you see in wMM updater are NOT gameData files. They go in /dev_hdd0/plugins, /dev_hdd0/tmp.....
There is no risk at all, there are no webMAN-MOD files in /dev_hdd0/game (or gameData if you prefer).

Ok, so it seems that its only a system restore that can mess things up if that's the case? if that's the case its no big deal, people restoring the system can reinstall the FW while they are at it.

I actually have used QA flag's option in that case in the past
