You must just know if you are actually in DEX and switch to CEX if it's the case.

no i just unpack 4.83 ofw then applies the patches to isoldr and spu_pkg_rvk..

I did not check it, no. I just got a new ps3 today, and I haven't hooked it up yet. the moron didn't supply an hdmi cable and sent it without packing material, so I fear the worst.

afaik, dex doesn't need to be up to date in order to access psn.
