Cause if you are on 4.82 CFW you can update to 4.83 CFW. Or really any CFW console can update to 4.83 CFW.
Homebrew is updated from 4.82 to be compatible with the new 4.83 CFW "syscalls" (I think thats what they are called) and "offsets" etc.
This is only for those already on CFW.

I dont think there is any reason to update to 4.83 as there isnt any change in functionality

I am not sure either but I think ure right, 4.83 is just if you wanna be up-to-date.
I mean you can be on 3.55 CFW and still play on PSN with spoof if you want that.

hi ! i bought a second hand ps3 fat cecha01 with ofw 4.83 and i was wondering if i can install cfw 4.83 on it because this model is cfw compatible. im asking because i have another ps3 fat cechl01 that i bought with ofw 4.82 and i installed cfw 4.82 on it at that moment and it worked. im not asking for han or ps3xploit. thanks in advance.

If it's really CFW compatible, you will have to downgrade it using a hardware flasher, because there is no public exploit to allow you to install CFW from OFW on 4.83 yet.

ah ok thanks ! well i suppose im going to buy a e3 flasher to downgrade the ofw to 4.82. Is there any news for the xploit to allow users to install cfw from ofw 4.83 ?

How did you accidentally update to 4.83? The user is made aware that a system update is going to be performed, so I'll never understand when people say they did so by accident. I am not attacking you, by the way, but it is a recurring theme on the site which I and no doubt others have noticed. In answer to your question: depending on your model of PS3 you may be able to downgrade using a hardware flasher, since the exploit can only be performed on OFW 4.82. As for waiting; you might wait forever as there is no guarantee a new exploit will be found on 4.83.
