there's no telling. like I said, I never signed in, and I was somehow banned one day. I was taking precautions too, so I have no idea what I was banned for other than perhaps detecting multiman on my system. I bought a new system inside of idps, since my old system also had some weird problem.

How could they detect you had multiMAN if you weren't even signed in to PSN? I thought they could only detect after you signed in to PSN. I only PSN Patch when I want to go to PS Store so I suppose I can be banned (maybe even if I use it and don't sign in to PSN).

I signed in a few times, so maybe they detected it then. I'm not really sure.

Maybe you can be banned some time later even if at that time you're not signed in. I'm curious, how do you know you've been banned? Do you have an error message when you try to access the PSN and/or receive an email?

yes, it will say either the system or the account has been suspended. you can further check by going to sony's official site and trying to sign in. it should say something along those lines. if your system is banned, it will tell you (no errors) by saying that it's been suspended. if you try making a new account, you won't be able to go beyond step 1.

edit: btw, you'll also get an email. that's why I have all of my accounts linked to thunderbird, to keep an eye out for if I get banned again.

Hi guys
Sorry for what might be a silly question as ive been away with no internet access so missed the last week or so of updates from developers and just noticed the Ferrox 4.85 CFW.
Am I right in thinking that the 4.85 CFW will allow us to install a CFW that has been updated using the same method we used on 4.84?
Have apps been sorted like multiman to work with 4.85?

I haven't seen 4.85 Ferrox CFW, but Overflow is available. To update, just do it from USB from 4.84 CFW. It might be a good idea to toggle your QA flag (if it isn't already) so you can go back to 4.84 CFW if you choose to.

Edit: multiMAN should work, as it hasn't been updated since 4.82 but it works flawlessly on 4.84 so there's no reason to suggest it won't on 4.85 just as well. Other homebrew should work too, but as they've not been updated you might get an 'unknown CFW' or similar error on some but it shouldn't impact their functionality.

You must install HFW 4.85 and jailbreak the PS3 again (and install CFW after that, of course). Try through Safe Mode - recommended way of installing updates.
can someone please send me a step by step buide on what to do once i download the 4.85 ps3 xploit i want to play mgo2 thats my reasoning

You install it via USB like any other system update or CFW. The patch writer hasn't been updated for HFW 4.85 yet so you'll have to wait for it before you can install CFW. If you're still on 4.84 I advise you stay on it for the time being.

Thanks @Coldheart2236
Mines still running 4.84 and will be for the forseeable future haha.
A friend of mine updated his ps3. I know we can now get hfw 4.85 and ive see on the xploit page the nor dumper now works with 4.85 so was hoping I could get him on a CFW.
Worth a shot on an old ps3 i have for testing i guess!

No problem, you're welcome. I'm staying on 4.84 Rebug for the time being, as I have plenty of games to keep me occupied. You can tell your friend that the flash writer is currently being tested for 4.85 and so it's on its way. :) See this post by DeViL earlier.

(I'm Spanish, sorry if my English is bad) I'm a bit worried about something so I came here to ask. I had CFW Rebug 4.82 installed on my console, then it was updated to OFW 4.85 (don't ask why :c), and now I'm wondering if it would be dangerous to use the flash writer again, if I did it in the past... to Install CFW again (now I know the flash writer isnt available for 4.85 yet, but i'm asking now anyway). I'm just worried that if I modifý again the flash memory with the exploit it would lead to a brick or something. Is it still safe to do so? Thanks and sorry for the noob question...

Completely safe, don't worry. Just follow all the steps and check the dump BEFORE and AFTER the jailbreak, and DO NOT reboot if the dump made AFTER the jailbreak is not good. That means if you reboot the console, it will be bricked. If that dump made after the jailbreak is not good, keep trying to jailbreak and DO NOT restart the console. Or you'll brick it... But it's not common. Don't worry aside from this.

The actual dumper/writer doesnt works in 4.85HFW, also the file you need to write for 4.85 doesnt exist yet... if for some reason you write an incorrect file (not compatible with your firmware version) you will brick the PS3
The only thing you can do right now in 4.85 is to wait for new releases

UPDATE:
This is not my work. all credit goes to the guy in the video. I just found this and figured I would post a link. it worked on mine. if the ps3xploit patch in the video fails the first time, just go to the window manager (L3) and close the tool window (triangle and then select close window) then from the main ps3xploit window, select the link again and it should work. I'm still working on installing the actual CFW but I can install and run homebrew again at least.

that image looks like that famous painting, "the scream." :-p I didn't watch it, but I'd be very careful with youtube tutorials.
