apparently you haven't read my initial post then... this HAS to be up to date for it to work on my system due to the fact that I updated to the latest OFW from sony before they banned my console.
 
I'm not saying that all of them are bad, but when you're a noob, you're not going to know better. for this type of hack, it's best to use the tutorial on this site, since it's going to be updated and the creators of ps3xploit are here too. there's even a discord channel.

Ok so still not sure what i did wrong... I checked the links and whatnot and everything seems legit... I'm not totally stupid on this stuff though I'm definitely not the smartest by any means either. What the guy put in the video works. Feel free to check it out yourself. Not sure how else to say thank you for the heads up and by all means check it yourself.
 
hey there, i just updated to 4.85 HFW and i tried installing hen through the alternate method in the ps3xploit website but when im trying to actually install it an error message pops up and at this point i honestly regret installing 4.85 in the first place. Can you guys give any help pls?

yes, unless it's db firmware. I read that there's a bug with the overflow db causing stability problems. I never personally tested it. afaik, that's the only problem with the firmwares.

edit: this is only coming from cfw. if you install ofw or hfw, you need to use the flasher again.
 
i just like to ask. my son primarily uses my HAN ps3 but on hfw 4.84. should updating to hfw 4.85 enough so we can continue going online with youtube and spotify? pardon the noob question.
 
yes, but I'm not sure how much stuff works or needs updating on 4.85. you might want to hold off 'til then.
 
If i update my ps3 to the "HFW_4.85.1" can i install the rebug in version 4.84.1 or is it recommended to wait for a newer version
 
I installed Overflow CEX Cobra on my CECHB00, now it does not start ps2 games from disc at all. what did i do wrong. should I install standard cex overflow v1 ?

Why don't you go with Rebug 4.84 instead? If it doesn't launch any PS2 Title from disc, perhaps the PS2Emu.self entry is missing?

I don't get why people have such an urge to update they're console, even though they perfectly know the update doesn't bring anything new to the table, i am running 4.82 on my BC PS3, it delivers all my needs, and it does stay that way.

might just be to be on the latest. I do that with the 360. I don't do it with the wii u though (still on 5.5.1). and, I'm on 3.65 ensou on the vita/pstv. I've thought about downgrading, but it's not really worth it.
 
Hey, i know that this questions was alredy asked, but i'm completly new to custom firmware stuff and I really don't want to brick my system. I updated my PS3 to HFW 4.85, performed flash etc. Now, can I uptade to CFW to version 4.84, or is it absolutely necessary to do it in 4.85 ?

I bought this console on 4.80 TODAY. So there is no other way of softmodding the console other than use **ps3xploit.com >Domain no Longer owned by team** (ps3xploit.me =new) so there no longer support 4.84. This is the reason "why people always update" ;) I have to. FOR ME it make even less sence to delete the 4.84 ability on ps3xloit.com. just let the user choice, don't get the clue behindt that, but I guess there is any sence behind this so I don't judge about things I don't understand ;)
 
funny thing is that some people in the scene are afraid to update from 3.55 cfw. I don't know why. it makes me wonder how these people got on cfw to begin with. then, there's another group who can't get reactpsn to work. there's overlap there. lol pretty sad stuff if you ask me.

Ive seen some of thoes cases regarding not wanting to update from 3.55 CFW, still running methods that by today's standards are considered obsolete.

For me 4.82 and 4.84 CFW are already perfect, no need to update it any further,but of course updating to 4.85 is not a bad choice, but i only choose Rebug for that update.
