You are absolutely right about the visual mods and his choice of logos. You could see it coming a mile away. lol
Yeah, I'm personally not a fan of all that flashy stuff. I like simple and clean. But it's his release so...
From the point of view of design is like the PS4 PRO mod made by LuanTeles, it have a huge amount of visual changes
If we make a poll with all that modifications and a YES/NO checkbox for all them, and we ask the forum users to fill it... the results are going to be mostly random
You need to start worrying if there is something where 90%+ of the people is marking the NO checkbox, lol
As a designer this is the point where you should make a pause and start considering if they are right
From the point of view of stability is also mostly the same than the PS4 PRO mod, the fact that there are lot of files modifyed makes some room for small mistakes, the risk is small though, but eventually there could be an screen that does something weird, or an image that looks bad, etc...
Are minor problems though... if you like the style you can report it and is easy to fix it (or revert that detail to the official look incase is a road end)
I just hope he's able to get everything working properly. I'm always down to try something new, especially now that I have a spare console to test stuff on.
At this point is mostly a matter of taking the ps2 emulator files from the SPY CFW, in my oppinion this is morally right, and there is no need to ask for permission to darekspy
What is absolutelly needed is to give credits to him, and explain publically that you got the files from other cfw
The forum staff had some private talks latelly about how to organize the threads made by rookies cfw developers, and one of the "rules" i mentioned (in plain words, in the same way i would say to a friend or a familiar) is to be humble and honest
If you need to take a file from another cfw, the best thing you can do is to tell it since beginning, this way nobody can argue that you stole it
----
As example, if i take a cfw made by ferrox, i modify some things in it, and then i release it saying that... "this cfw is based on ferrox, all credits to him for the base files" (and then a good detailed list of the things i changed)
I think is morally right, and i would not feel ashamed incase someone argues that im "stealing" his files because im admitting it, and in some way the fact im choosing that cfw as a base is because i consider is a good start point
