I didn't get a chance to test it for an extended amount of time, about 45 minutes. But I Played a few games and only ran into one issue while using it.

  • Installed with no issues
  • Homebrew installed and ran just fine
  • PS3 backups booted just fine from USB
  • PS2 backup from dev_hdd0 would not boot (unsupported data message and this model ps3 system is not compatible with ps2 format software)
  • I was able to revert back to Rebug through XMB update

PS2 backup from dev_hdd0 would not boot (unsupported data message and this model ps3 system is not compatible with ps2 format software)

No idea if this is the case, but if he used PUAD to repack the PUP it can break PSP/PS2 like that, PUAD can not handle Cobra FW properly.

v1.5 can, people will have to wait for v2 that also has a spkg tar fix as this is also an issue with v1.5 when repacking, it breaks them, as I had this issue until @Joonie told me about the issue, it will work fine then out of the blue not work anymore properly.

But this is not the case this time...

PS2 backup from dev_hdd0 would not boot (unsupported data message and this model ps3 system is not compatible with ps2 format software)

I have just spent the past 10 mins sussing this out and the problem is this..... Non of the ps2emu files have been patched for Cobra, they do not match my own 4.85 CFW PS2emu files from my own 4.85 CEX CFW that I make and use when testing things out, they are a perfect match to the OFW one's and have not been touched so cobra will not work for PS2 ISO games on NON-BC PS3s or even BC PS3's...

PS3 backups booted just fine from USB

Were these games in ISO or JB Folder Format (< Cobra is not needed to load and run PS3 backups in JB Folder Format each backup manager has its own payload for this, just mainly ISOs require Cobra) Also if ISO did you try from "dev_hdd0/PS3ISO"...? I know you said you only quickly tested this.....

@Louay

Non of the PS2 emu files in your Cobra CFW have been patched for Cobra and the PS2 emu stage 2.bin files are missing...

ps2_emu.self = Not Patched
ps2_gxemu = Not Patched
ps2_netemu = Not Patched

ps2hwemu_stage2.bin = Missing....
ps2gxemu_stage2.bin = Missing....

Also I noticed some differences in your cobra stage2.cex, and am not talking about where you switched the folder location to "louay" either. These appear at the very top of the stage2.bin. Did you change anything else in the Cobra Source before compiling it...?

No, he quoted me and asked what format my PS3 backups were and if I tried to boot them from dev_hdd0/PS3ISO. That's what I was answering.
I had already mentioned that the PS2 backup was located on dev_hdd0 in my op :flustered:

ps2_emu.self = Not Patched
ps2_gxemu = Not Patched
ps2_netemu = Not Patched

ps2hwemu_stage2.bin = Missing....

Yikes.

Excluding issues that @Cypher_CG89 found, there need to be issue with VSH patching. Because discs aren't recognized before emu can even touch them. This suggest bad patch offset, or bad hash for VSH.

In this situation i suggest to not use that cfw at all.

I will see

bro .... did you check the firmware? Rebug 4.84.1 NoBD

PS3MFW[edit]

  • PS3MFW *
  • broken_bluray.tcl (0.2) – Allows you to remove Blu-Ray firmware installation so that the MFW can be installed without a working Blu-Ray drive. This is potentially dangerous if used on a PS3 with a working drive, and should only be used if the drive is broken.

I rather wait for ferrox or rebug and i know that i will have a good cfw then trying this..

And Btw the name anonymous is refered to what? you are not part of the anonymous hackers group or you are the spammer that send the spam emails that you have my video from doing bad thing if i have not a camera conected to my pc?

Yeah I think using the Anonymous logo and name in your CFW is a bad idea for a few reasons. The main reason is that they are a real hacker group, and you have nothing to do with them.

Also I think attempting to release 7 PUPs was a bad idea, the ONE you have released has MULTIPLE mistakes. Back to the drawing board I think.

I wasn't a fan of the whole "Anonymous" thing either but I just assumed he was a fan because he's from Tunisia. And If I remember correctly I think Anonymous helped Tunisian protestors at one point.

Imagine he had released all 7 already with missing patches... then ALL 7 need to be redone. Loauy would instantly jump to the biggest releaser of dodgy pups in the whole scene on the first release.

And stuff like changing the cobra path to your own name.... like grow up..jeez, we're not 10 year olds here are we. :-p

The anonymous name is mostly like an style
I mean... is a very generic name and (at least in my oppinion) doesnt represents the nick of the person who made it. At least in this forum we know is "anonymous cfw made by louay"
That name fits better, is like if he made another cfw named "batman cfw made by louay"... or other person does a "anonymous cfw made by otherperson"
But i agree is a bit weird name... just by reading it i dont really know who made it so the reputation of that "anonymous" is unknown

Btw, no need to enter in panic mode, there has been a couple of bug reports made by @kozarovv and @Cypher_CG89
Thats the kind of sane and constructive colaboration we like to see in the forum in between cfw developers :encouragement:
Someone releases something, then other users reports bugs, then the bugs are fixed, etc... if all that is made in a polite (or neutral) and in a constructive way we will have a good community
@Louay will take a look at it later to fix it

The firmware is not completly broken, as far i could read what is broken is the PS2 support... but this kind of problems happened in lot of cfw releases from other cfw developers... so dont enter in panic mode or crucifix him :)

I hope he fixes the issues and I'll totally try it again if he's able to get everything sorted out.
This is just my opinion but I feel like all the flashy stuff and everything with his name on it should have been his personal CFW and he should have released a clean version with the black background without all the other stuff added to it.

This is not as excuse. if i would release a cfw i would not name it "Ferrari Cfw" only because im a big fan of them.

Well, i have not installed or could see some images of how it looks, but by reading louay posts in the forum from the past months i have an idea that is going to have lot of visual modifications, and this is a personal oppinion, there is going to be some people that likes it and others dont
From the point of view of interface/image design probably he would acept some suggestions, but overall the idea of making a cfw inspirated in anonymous i guess is not going to change because thats the whole concept, everything is made trying to insiprate that "hackers" style :)

And i guess it have an abuse of logos/nicknames, you know a single of few are ok, but an abuse of it becomes excesive. You are one of the first persons to mention it, but to be honest i guessed some more people was going to critizise this, louay will have to deal with it :rolleyes:

For sure. It's not an excuse. And you're right, I wouldn't release a Pornhub CFW. Well... maybe... :D

You are absolutely right about the visual mods and his choice of logos. You could see it coming a mile away. lol
Yeah, I'm personally not a fan of all that flashy stuff. I like simple and clean. But it's his release so... :cool:
I just hope he's able to get everything working properly. I'm always down to try something new, especially now that I have a spare console to test stuff on.

From the point of view of design is like the PS4 PRO mod made by LuanTeles, it have a huge amount of visual changes
If we make a poll with all that modifications and a YES/NO checkbox for all them, and we ask the forum users to fill it... the results are going to be mostly random
You need to start worrying if there is something where 90%+ of the people is marking the NO checkbox, lol
As a designer this is the point where you should make a pause and start considering if they are right

From the point of view of stability is also mostly the same than the PS4 PRO mod, the fact that there are lot of files modifyed makes some room for small mistakes, the risk is small though, but eventually there could be an screen that does something weird, or an image that looks bad, etc...
Are minor problems though... if you like the style you can report it and is easy to fix it (or revert that detail to the official look incase is a road end)

I just hope he's able to get everything working properly. I'm always down to try something new, especially now that I have a spare console to test stuff on.
At this point is mostly a matter of taking the ps2 emulator files from the SPY CFW, in my oppinion this is morally right, and there is no need to ask for permission to darekspy
What is absolutelly needed is to give credits to him, and explain publically that you got the files from other cfw

The forum staff had some private talks latelly about how to organize the threads made by rookies cfw developers, and one of the "rules" i mentioned (in plain words, in the same way i would say to a friend or a familiar) is to be humble and honest

If you need to take a file from another cfw, the best thing you can do is to tell it since beginning, this way nobody can argue that you stole it

----
As example, if i take a cfw made by ferrox, i modify some things in it, and then i release it saying that... "this cfw is based on ferrox, all credits to him for the base files" (and then a good detailed list of the things i changed)
I think is morally right, and i would not feel ashamed incase someone argues that im "stealing" his files because im admitting it, and in some way the fact im choosing that cfw as a base is because i consider is a good start point
