So I guess no one has any idea what this is about lol? Nothing to worry about then unless one of these days my system turns itself off without my direction? Any possible insight
@sandungas you seem like one who knows a lot about this sort of stuff lol. There's more info in other posts I put in this thread.
I checked around some other places on the web and found a few others who basically have the same problem (if you can even classify it as a "problem") but there were not really any solid explanations there either.
I think it happens because syscon chip keeps a record of the fan speeds used before your turned off the PS3
To check this you can "reset" the syscon chip by disconnecting power cord at the back of the PS3
I mean... turn off the PS3 normally (so it enters in standby)... and then unplug the power cord, wait 1 minute (to drain all electricity of the capacitors) and plug it again
Then boot the PS3 and the fan speed should be normal
*remember, the syscon chip is always "alive", even when the PS3 is in standby the syscon is working in "low power" mode
-------------------
There is a weird effect that could confuse you a bit though... when you boot the PS3, at the first 5 seconds or so, the fan speed is bigger than normal
After that 5 seconds, the fan speeds decreases, and this is where it starts working normally
This happens in all PS3 slim models as far i know, even in official firmware
Long story short... dont worry about that first 5 seconds... is something weird, but is like that from factory
-------------------
The PS2 emulator for non-PS2-backward-compatible PS3 models, named netemu (and used by all slims, superslims, and most of the fats) does an intensive usage of the coprocessors of CELL
This is not bad in itself, is designed like that and the CELL can handle it... there is people that thinks the PS2 emu could damage the PS3 but is not exactly that
What happens is the PS2 netemu pushes CELL into high workload entirelly (lets say over 90% workload)
But i bet ther are many PS3 games that does this... so nothing specially dangerous
Is just incase you have degraded thermal paste in CELL or any oter problem in CELL, then the PS2 netemu is going to overheat CELL easilly
