I didn't like mw2012 too much either, NFS lost me when they took the focus away from vehicle customization. Loved the Underground era up through Carbon. High Stakes on the PSX is probably my personal favorite. Provided a good challenge without the AI being overly annoying.
In regards to MGS, I gotta say 2 & 4 were the best imo. MGSV was a big disappointment for me just like GTAV. Last games I ever pre-ordered lmao... Don't know how anyone could call it the best in the series... The open world approach was fun but everything got incredibly stale after some time playing "go here extract these guys, go here kill or extract this guy but don't let the gunship see you. etc" I preferred the classic linear approach with the abundance of cutscene's. Plus MGS:4 had a pretty fun multiplayer mode (MGO) at the time, the one on V took a different approach and feels more like any other shooter / call of duty.
