PS3 Its Here - Rebug REX & D-REX Editions Of 4.78.2 Custom Firmware With Official Cobra 7.3

A couple of days ago I reported the unofficial release of the COBRA 7.3 updater for Rebug's 4.78.1 custom firmware. There was some concerns regarding the updater which added the much anticipated COBRA 7.3 version that was developed by Habib and Mysis. This version of COBRA fixed the controller sync issue when launching PS2 ISO's from the XMB's disc icon which was introduced in Habibs 4.78 STARBUCKS[break].[/break] custom firmware. So if you where holding out for the official release of said COBRA 7.3 implemented into the most popular of custom firmwares, the wait is now over!

Really? If its right then it would be great to upgrade to this CFW,because emulation always causes FPS drop in non-BC consoles.

As for better framerate.. I don't see how. Cobra 7.3 is for better PS2 ISO support not compatibility..
Compatibility still resides in Classic converts and CONFIG files.. Unless CONFIG files can be used on isos, which I doubt.

Im not 100% sure BUT i think he means the last rebug release was followed by an cobra 7.3 UPDATER (unofficial)
When playing on BC connsoles the framrate was terrible on NTSC and JAP games yet PAL was ok, as the updater or sources were buggy

Framerate issue was PSX games on habib 4.78 cobra due to disabling vmode fix which never happend on rebug cobra.

did you guys do any recompiling of the source (clean bugs and remove waste)? Just asking if that could be the frame rate increase seen/unseen. I haven't installed yet but plan to later tonight.

I did recompile the source with little updates regarding ps2 controller handling, [MENTION=89]aldostools[/MENTION]'s code has been applied.

About framerate on ps2, I have 0 clue

I mean better framerate on non bc console. Specifically in DBZ BT3 and GTA San Andreas (both of them ntsc with voice/music/texture mods), these games give me some slowdowns on Rebug 4.78.1 (Cobra 7.2/ Ps2 iso launcher) but now on Rebug 4.78.2 (and Habib 4.78 and Unoffical 4.78.1 cobra 7.3 update) these slowdowns mostly dissapeared now. IDK if is a Cobra 7.3 improve or I just had a problem with cobra 7.20 files.

 

BC consoles wouldn't have an issue either way with the emotion chip installed handling all the PS2 emulation, Yes Software emulation in non-bc consoles is ok, but really heats up my system so i don't PS2 on my PS3 much. I have a PS2 with VGA out for "cleaner" looking PS2 gaming. BUT total appreciate all the hard work that goes into making BC on non-BC possible.

 

Went to update to this firmware today im on 4.78.1 rebug and im getting 80029c7f error the ps3 is q&a and has debug update enabled,I also have some updates in UPDATER folder on internal hdd0 and same happens when i try update from their any one know whats going on i never had any probs before

I believe I remember reading that [MENTION=29]Joonie[/MENTION] had posted this error msg is bc you are trying to update a Dex ps3 with a cex.pup. try using the d Rex pup instead, or vice versa. Maybe [MENTION=3657]pinky[/MENTION], or one of the other mods can help you answer this better than I.

If you have minver check there then delete it from folder.

"An error has occurred." while accessing Update via System Storage/Delete Update Data on System Storage (e.g. when System Storage folder contains PUP without version to check lowest applicable firmware version).

if u r on dex, u can check with multiman or rebug toolbox.

Yeah I've had a new 7200rpm 1tb drive in my cupboard for ages. This finally gave me the motivation to put it in lol.

Might have another crack at my 5400rpm 1.5tb hdd again later to see if that works any better now days.

As far as i know the ps3 will only "see" 1tb max but hey i could be wrong if you get it working let me know man as you can never have nuf internal space

 

I have a 1TB Samsung Spinpoint M8 5400 RPM in my Rebug 4.78.2 ps3 internal Hdd.. That I copped for a bean back in 2011..
The shit is a beast.. I gotta say.. It went through so many hard resets and freezes, testing apps.. and what-not..
And it's still running strong in 2016.. Without any errors, rebuild database / format shit.. Beast Mode!
