WebMAN LaunchPad (webMAN MOD Add-On -Unofficial)

PS3 LaunchPad (Unofficial addon for webMAN MOD) v0.17

I am fairly sure v0.17 was made for 4.81.1.
This version is for Rebug 4.81.1 ONLY.

v0.18:
Support added for Rebug 4.81.2

v0.17 might work on 4.81.2, but it might break Cobra, or some other unexpected result. So best to use the latest.

It is possible that for a very short while when v0.18 was first released that the pkg had v0.17 in the param.sfo, and then I changed it, think I remember something like that happening with one of the versions, cant remember which, so a few people could have got a v0.18 that reports itself to be v0.17. Anyway best to redownload it to be sure.

The download link for 0.18 says 0.18 but the param.sfo says 0;17

To know if its the 0;18 only look for 4.81.2 support

The 0.17 I have has 4.81.1 and 4.81.2 but I think I got it all sorted now. Going home to test in like five minutes and will report back. I think it was notepad++ that broke the links not webMAN or launchpad.

I tried this on a K01 with Rebug 4.81.2 today. The installer was a little wonky, (Pressing down skipped over the 4.81.2 option to the point where I thought it was falsely detecting me as having 4.81.1, but after pressing down past the exit option it seemed to go back up to the 4.81.2 option). Anyway...

Installed, it said it modified 12 files.
Did a hard reboot.
Saw Launchpad icon under games.
Clicked it. Instead of games as expected, actually showed "Whats New" content (despite being off in System Settings).
Decided not to muck with it anymore than that, paranoid that my PS3 is still connecting to PSN despite being set to block in webMAN, I decided to just uninstall this mod.

Uninstall went fine, and system still works, but uninstaller said it modified 9 files. Curious which 3 files the installer modified that the uninstaller did not revert.

If you use Rebug in CEX mode, install the PSNPatch plugin.
Access to PSN will not be possible until you use the combo to trigger PSNPatch.
WMM offers various features related to PSN access but it's highly recommended to leave these options alone & rely on psnpatch which does a much better job overall.

Regarding the backup restoration & number on processed files, you can look in the installer directory in /dev_hdd0/game, the files backed up by the installer are there for you to examine...

About What's new being displayed, @DeViL303 might already be familiar with this particular issue...

Anyhow is your wMM version updated?

Have you checked your WMM settings? In the setup page page there are launchpad entries which should be set correctly for the launchpad feature to work correctly...
Have you refreshed XML or rebooted, and scanning on boot must be enabled in this case, after installing webman launchpad?
Have you tried looking in /dev_hdd0/tmp for the launchpad xml file?

I do have PSNPatch, and use it before signing in. However, I did not use it to disable CFW when doing this, yet it still loaded "Whats New" content from PSN. Maybe it doesn't block it because its not a threat (though knowing Sony it probably sends a console ID in the GET request, though maybe not, I'm not that fluent in PS3 JB)

I deleted the installer though, which likely deleted the folder. That was my bad.

This may be what happened. I did none of those things. I have my XML set up, but did not refresh it after installing the launchpad. I also have scan on startup disabled.

Thanks for the insight. I'll try it again properly after I figure out why my PS3 is still talking to Sony when PSNPatch isn't set to allow it :P

Just to be clear, I was talking about the psnpatch plugin & not the psnpatch app.
Unlike the app, the plugin is loaded at boot & it will not let the OS communicate with PSN. All attempts to sign in to PSN will fail until the plugin is triggered by combo, however Internet access is not blocked & websites can still be reached. That's not risky though, as long as the console isn't logged into PSN, your idps should not be sent anywhere... Afaik the API required to obtain your idps remotely is only accessible when the console is signed in to PSN.

Btw if you are interested DeViL303 made a what's new mod that replaces the s#ny content by psx-place.com content... You can get it at store.brewology.com...

@DeViL303 did you already figured out how to fix it? Hehehe
It should be working? I have not got this installed right now. While this was cool at the time, now it has a few too many limitations when compared to sMAN, internet required, psn account, slow to load up when lots of games etc.

I would like to upgrade Cobra to version 7.53 using the ToolBox, but first I wanted to know if XMBPD v0.70 or Launchpad v0.18 might present any problem?

obvious not! its the cobra that is being upgraded not the firware

Actually it breaks the COBRA PS2 Playback, just tested and it broke it
When porting mods for new firmwares it is important to use files from the new fw as a base, that's what porting means in this case. So take each xml, rco and sprx from the new fw, and mod them in the same way, as the older versions were modded, that should always work. If you use older version files it can lead to all sorts of unexpected problems, especially rcos and sprxs, you might get away with xmls sometimes.

@ DeViL303

As you know i was a proud user of WMLP to make my favourite Games to load quick and easy. Even the possibility to have nice big covers was a plus. I would absolutely love to see a 4.82/3/4/5 port for this beatiful mod.

Regards
