PS VITA / PS TV Pinky's PS Vita Tutorials

I added another one of those tutorials to the original post. I didn't realize so much work was involved to get the tutorial to look right. I fiddled with it for about two hours. there's one tutorial left. I'd appreciate it if u'd do the ps3 tutorials next. they look really messed up with no aname/jumpto tags. thank u, thank u!

I'm not sure which tutorial to write next. 3 of the tutorials use the same two files. app.db tutorials might be a good place to start. the themes' tutorial uses that file. pkg installer, ps3 remote play on the pstv, and ps1 bubbles use the app.db file. consolidating tutorials based on which file(s) is/r used seems to be a good way to sort them.

edit: @atreyu187 's tutorial on the advanced white list for the pstv also uses the app.db. further, the ps4 seems to use the app.db to sort content on the home screen, so there's overlap with both of the systems.
 
a good one might be a rejuvenate tutorial to use all the fantastic homebrew that's been created. one thing I've noticed in a lot of tutorials for rejuvenate is that it doesn't mention requiring qcma. sony has adapted their cma, which affects open cma, to not transfer over folders within savedata. qcma is also the only one of the two cma flavors to allow installing pkg files over ur network. also, another thing I've not seen relates to vita shell. u can't ftp unless u press (think it was select). it will say that ftp is enabled along with ur ip and port. :) then, there's also cfw for the psp. if u can use the eml trick (sub 3.55), u can use any game. demos r good or at least were. u may be able to transfer them with qcma (haven't tried), but cma (open cma) has black listed a lot, if not all, demos for this reason. u can still download them on the ps3, but transferring them is impossible.

edit: these things would find their way as "notes" in my tutorials. I usually try everything to see what does or doesn't work when it comes to system hacking. there's nothing potentially dangerous about vita hacks either. if u mess up the app.db, u'll be forced to rebuild the database; if u mess up the system.dreg, ur license activation will be removed and u'll have to go through the system setup again. rejuvenate and psp cfw will result in an error or a black screen if something goes wrong. u'll get a specific error with rejuvenate if it can't find ur licenses, and the psp cfw will either error, black screen, or say u need to renew ur license if something messed up the licensing.

  • ★ Step 1 ★​

    Open Vita Update Blocker and open CMA or qcma from a coldboot position to prevent any issues

  • ★ Step 2 ★​

    Transfer the credentials of Vita Update Blocker to the PS Vita (i.e. 192.168.1.102:8080)
    192.168.1.102 = ip address
    8080 = port

  • ★ Step 3 ★​

    Select System Update/Update Using Wifi. It should say you're on the latest firmware, and cmd window of Vita Update Blocker should display your actual firmware version x.xx as well as the fact that it's been spoofed to the latest firmware x.xx. DON'T CLOSE VITA UPDATE BLOCKER like it says to.

  • ★ Step 4 ★​

    Go to Content Manager Assistant (CMA) on the vita, connect your system to CMA using a numeric (may require you to use wifi first, before usb). You should now be able to connect to your computer to transfer content. it's really as simple as that. Make sure to do these steps in the same order to prevent issues with CMA or update nags.

Its important to say from a coldboot do not open CMA on the Vita side or you will have to start over.
 
And yea I have a tutorial for installing PS3 Remote Play on the PSTV as well I need to post. I do the adv whitelist, rename icons, remove useless apps, enable PKG Installer amd Remote Play all in one shot when doing mods. They can all be linked together quiet easily.

Since I can't use Rejuvanate anymore I need to get a system for this as native guides for PSM loading are few and far between. I am sure i would have issues now that I dont habe a Vita to install defiler anymore.

u should do that tutorial. several of my tutorials could be linked to mods with the system.dreg. u could do ones for the app.db aside from the themes one which I've already done. :p
 
Should be noted for PKG installer guide while the bubble can be enabled on 3.52 and below it will only work for 3.00-3.18/3.20. Bubble cant be activated below 3.00 and while shown above 3.20 it isnt functional.

NP and if you want you can add my tuts to yours for a single database. I don't know how you do the formatting nor the time really. But if you want to please feel free to add to Pinky's Vita Guides.

thanks. I'll add them once I start consolidating the information into these three categories: system.dreg/ireg, app.db, and miscellaneous (i.e. ecfw, id.dat, etc.). I think it will be easier to follow if the information is separated into those three categories, since a great deal of hacks use the system.dreg/.ireg (i.e. button swapping, creating a cma for anyone, region changing, etc.) and app.db (i.e. themes, whitelist v2, package installer, ps3 remote play for the pstv, etc.). and, the last category could be what's left such as memory card swapping (id.dat), ecfw including how to alphabetize content with psp filer, etc. what do u think?
