dump your current nor, and then fix the dump by replacing the 3Mb of CoreOS in the ROS with ofw CoreOS. Then write it to your console with hardware flasher, your console is a live.

FYI there is no downgrade operation taking place when using the ps3xploit flash writer to enable cfw installation, this method requires patching the flash memory, that's all.

The short answer to your question question is yes, it's possible to use the ps3xploit v2.0 tools to install a CFW on a console with BD issues. However it's a very specific situation, I am going to try to sum up the situation for you.

You give us no details whatsoever about your problem so I am going to assume a number of things among which the fact that you already checked that your console with broken BD is compatible with CFW installation ie minVerChk < 3.60.

Also you need to know that there are 2 different types of situations when it comes to what's commonly referred to as noBD problems.
A) BD issues like bad lens, misbehaving tray etc.. The system still communicates ok with the BD drive & general OS functions are not impaired.
B) the BD & its logic board have been removed/disconnected. Without a working BD logic board, multiple problems affect the system, it is of course the worst case scenario. Note that on later slim models, the BD logic board is integrated into the motherboard, not screwed under the BD drive anymore so removing the BD drive on those models doesn't have the same impact as it does on a phat or early slim model.

Given your question, I am going to assume that attempting to update or reinstall OFW errors out.

Is the console currently running on OFW 4.82?

1. The answer is yes. You should be able to use the flash writer & install a noBD CFW. However, you need to be aware that as indicated in the instructions, ofw 4.82 should ideally get installed twice before attempting exploitation in order to avoid possible cfw installation errors. You cannot do that preventive step if you cannot install any official firmware. This cfw installation error can also be fixed by reformatting the ps3 hdd but if ofw installation fails due to BD, the only way forward would then be to reformat the hdd after exploitation & attempt to use a noBD cfw during system reinstall. In order to do this without error, using a custom flash_482.hex patch file might be required.

2. The answer is no. For starters, the flash writer would need to be tweaked with the correct offsets for the fw version you are using AND you would need to make or procure a custom flash_4xx.hex patch file adapted to the fw version currently running. And of course, everything I just detailed in case 1 above should be applied in this case too.

If you have both ros0 & ros1 warnings then you most likely made a mistake setting up the flash writing process.
Don't turn off or reboot the console for the moment. .
However if you wish to receive appropriate help, you must provide enough details so we can understand what went wrong. We might even need to look at a dump eventually but first things first, begin with posting info about your console, the method used to patch & a screenshot of the validation tool result.

i under stand what are you saying but after 95% it says intilizing fail try again

re-install OFW twice

Please explain what is the purpose of installing OFW twice? There's something wrong/buggy with flash writing routines in kernel?

 

spent the last hour or so trying to get this to work on a CECHJO4 (yes,installed 4.82 twice just incase) to no avail. Luckily i still had the v1 exploit saved,first attempt and i was already copying games. Lol

I was wondering, is there an offline way to do this? My wifi/bt board cwi-002 on my cechg 40gb ps3 quit working on me. I downloaded the files needed, but haven't done anything with them yet. If there isn't a way to do it without the wifi/bt board I will just have to wait til I can get another one.
