rejuvenateunity.png

Are you a frustrated PSTV owner because don't own a Vita in order to have access to all needed files in to fully Rejuvenate your PSTV with PSM+ thus bringing life to the system finally? Something it seems even Sony has failed to do calling our beloved system a "legacy" device. Well wait no more folks the answer to all your prayers are finally here thanks to the marvelous mr. gas and SMOKE!! No worries about the [break].[/break]limitations of 3.51 & lower or the lockout at firmwares 3.52 and more.

Installation Method
Instructions:
1. Copy the UNITY-TV folder for your Unity app version to CMA's PSAVEDATA/<random numbers>/ folder.
2. Copy the savedata to your PSTV ( You will need to use VitaUpdateBlocker )
3. Make sure you have no notifications and are not downloading anything.
4. Rebuild database in recovery.
5. Using Outlook or Thunderbird, forward the eml to your email account.
6. Find any Vita app or game that has an update available, click update, and then pause the download.
7. Open the Email app and click the attachments one at a time.
It should show an error that says it could not display the image. DO NOT click the ok button.
Instead, press home and close the Email app.
8. Once you have installed both files, reboot your PSTV again.
9. Then, continue the download. The download should now be ~5mb. If not, something went wrong.
10. Once downloading is complete, open the Unity app ( You might need to install PSM+ ) and delete the 0000 "app"
11. You should now only have Vita Defiler Client installed in Unity. Now you can cancel the installation notification.

How to update if you have used this method before:
1. Simply FTP the Application & System folders from this pack to cache0:/VitaDefilerClient/
eg. I have Unity 1.06, so the folders and files I need to replace on my PSTV are in Unity 1.06/UNITY-TV/p/VitaDefilerClient/

Troubleshooting:
-To install PSM+ on your PSTV, use the Device ID your Vita assuming you have a Vita as well. (**Hint Youtube can help with this and will not risk anyone's account or system**)

Credits:
mr.gas for the trick
SMOKE for preparing files & writing instructions

**PLEASE NOTE**
PSM Unity v1.05 for 3.20 and below and PSM Unity v1.06 is for firmware 3.36+. Both are included here in the install zip. The latest EML File Generator 0.3 can be found here at Major Tom's github page. Also one MUST use Codestations (Windows & OSX flavors available) QCMA and since the PSTV lacks USB support one must set the app to 3.10, allow connection without internet, spoof with the latest VitaUpdateBlocker by iAmGhost. Both PSTV/Vita need to be on the same wireless network (yes it can be on a mobile hotspot using Vita Defiler reported here earlier today so a PC or Android is also needed pick your poison) in order for PSTV to see QCMA for EML trick. I use the "pportable" version of Thunderbird with my gamil account to send EML file to write to Vita memory card. This took a lot of work to figure out the right settings so I wanted to share and save you some time/heartache. If choosing Android over a PC you may want to have a look at the link I posted earlier here as all tools and apps needed by either PC or Android are covered between the two articles as well as all the latest up to date native Vita side applications. I hope you all enjoy this as much as I have.

Nice! I just bought pstv 2 weeks ago, it's still in the box.
Giving it to my 13 yr old son.
I'm going to have him do this after we move next week and get internet hooked up.
I downloaded the file you have here but there are other files I need?
If so would you be so kind as to post then all here so he can get everything from one thread?
Thanks
Edit: I read through this quick at work and downloaded it.
Either you added the please note after or I totally missed it.
Maybe thought it was a sig and ignored?
Anyway thanks

Great news, I was expecting to see this soon :)

I bought one as well several weeks ago still in the box. (looks like we have something in common hahaha).

Also i recently donated one to the libretro (RetroArch) developer's . Development of a RetroArch port is already in development.

Yeah they were like $30 on Amazon, was to good to pass up.

Nothing was added same article and links. And Sony is selling them for $20+ shipping ATM pushing the PS4 Link and PS Now netflixesque service both require latest firmware to enjoy thus voiding this hack though. Hang tight ps3 remote play from Vita is being added though which doesn't require PSN

OK note to PSTV only users the DeviceID can be ANY 17 digit number and doesn't need to come from a Vita. I'm typing up an in-depth guide for install using only free stuff. It will also have trouble shooting. Note PS3 with PSN access will be needed to be 100% free or a Vita cart with the orange update icon via Live Area. Also QCMA will be needed but figured out how to get that working as well with only WiFi and PSTV. There will be Android and PC launch methods as well so PSM+ can truly be portable and 100% wireless finally.

Thinking of pulling mine out of the box today. had to order a memcard that just came in today. So ready to see what this little thing can do ...

You got 1gb of internal flash memory what are you waiting for?

Edit

Check this post before doing anything.

Then if you want ePSP CFW (some games allow button mapping to L2/R2) or ePS1 CFW (2p support as well). ARK-3 will blend all three exploits into one but a PSP trigger game will be needed and depending on your firmware some are better then others. And custom bubbles to auto launch are awesome. Also for PS1 loader XS Moto will be needed as Tekken 2 exploit isn't supported yet. If your on 3.35 just wait as you can't do anything with it just yet but 3.20 can use the amazing TN-X.

eCFW unlocks all PSP titles to work upscaled at 720p and also all PS1 games work as well upscaled. All three exploits have their own positives. Pray you have a 3.20 and never look back or rely on Sonys "official" whitelist. Use vitareviews it has nearly three times the amount of working games and methods needed to trick some into working.

Time was the biggest reason a 3 day weekend helps now :). but was not aware it had that much internal i though a small amount at most if any.

hahaha i need to learn alot on this device still :)

atreyu187 all tuts for exploited saves providing a PS3 as a download trigger game "proxy", i'm just curious can PS4 do the same?

Nope PS4 can't do anything other then remote play for PS4 or use it as a controller or second screen.

And got to love all the stability!! And since your on 3.35 you might as well update to 3.50 and use Ape Escape as it does unlock more CPU power. 3.36 and under only run at 333mhz while 3.50 runs at 444mhz as Sony removed a bunch of included features and at least unlocked some CPU power.

The PS3 just allows you to grab content from PSN as there is no way for a Vita not on OFW to get it otherwise unless you have two systems. Download with current CFW then backup with QCMA then use memory card exploit trick to allow content from a higher firmware to be used on a lower one. Until the eml write trick came out the PS3 was the only way to get new content on the Vita. Good news is no Vita game worth a piss needs over 3.20 firmware. Even the latest and greatest work on 3.20 and under. Even the updates to the whitelist can be accessed from the Live Area by pressing the two blue arrows. It will stay until a hard reset. It stays updated with newer firmwares. When I play FFX or Retro City Rampage or even UMVC3 I have to update my whitelesit but I have all three on PS3 so I don't really care. All work fine without whitelist refresh on 3.30+

this is the system I plan to hack next. it's nice to be able to play psp games at 720p without that tiny box or fusa's limitations. psv games - that leaves a lot to be desired. I own two games for the psv - one works, the other doesn't with the pstv. I'm not sure what sony was thinking with that one. I know the unplayable game has a patch for the Japanese version that made it playable on the pstv, but no such patch was ever released in the US. :-/ what's sad is that these rn't obscure games, so wtf sony!? I mean even uncharted doesn't work.

Don't worry Uncharted works with custom whitelist. The issue is though it is basically a Vita it is looked at as a separate system so the license has to be applied for again for the PSTV. It isn't hardware restrictions at all since both front and rear touch pads are emulated (even used with the DS4) that is why its like this. Game devs don't want to pay more money they may not make any off of a poorly supported system that even Sony has given up on calling it a legacy system. Even with custom whitelist all will not work till we get the keys if it ever happens as it is a flag set in the SFO that allows booting on the system then just the game ID added to a plaintext file and BAM it works. Good news is alot of games that aren't on the list already have this flag set in the SFO but ones that don't will not work as we need to resign the PKG just like the PS3. But all PSP and PS1 work, even 2p support as well as remapping to L2/R2/L3/R3 triggers.

the game in question is actually the remake of Ys 4, one of my favorite series. that's something that really pisses me off about sony. if a console/portables is struggling, they just give up on it. the wii-u has been struggling since day one, and Nintendo hasn't abandoned it yet. that says a lot about the character of each company.

Well good news about Ys and the PSTV as it seems this will become a compatible title with the custkm whitelist as I have already looked into this.

And BTW Ys (I hate those who say Y's) is one of the first games I had. Found memories of part one on the Master system. So much so that it was the reason I got my Turbo Duo to play Ys I-IV. The PSP titles were pretty damn good as well.

But the Vita has so much potential man its sad. Luckily though Sony has quit there are still those out there that haven't. While the PSTV compatibility is low there is only 1-2 Vita games I want that don't work and thanks to TN-V/X the rate went up highly. Now I only need my custom whitelist as it seems you do as well bud.

I've yet to play the game on my vita despite having had it for months. I've been obsessed with tales of hearts which is also a great game. yeah, I hate it when people call the game Y's. u know what's hilarious is that I own the Japanese version of YS 4 for the pc engine. it says Y's on the front cover. however, in kana, it reads Ys. lol... also, a piece of funny trivia is mega man. in kana, Dr. "Why"ly actually says "Will"y. another mistake. I forgot which game I noticed that in. though, it could be a weird mistake like the Y's in which one game or a few games have it incorrect. the kana is usually correct though.

Have you tried to find translation for the undub version of Ys IV?
