PS5 [Rumours] PS5 Specs

Maybe they just first time decided to not push hot air into power supply. ;) I never liked their design to kill all other components by air warmed by cpu/gpu/apu, maybe they finally want to make me happy? :D

Here it is boys
Its officially releasing in 2020's holiday season
https://blog.us.playstation.com/201...next-gen-playstation-5-launches-holiday-2020/

This is the article from the Playstation blog, which interestingly enough, was focused more on the Controller

https://www.wired.com/story/exclusive-playstation-5/
and this Wired article was more in depth since they've made the interview, there were some numbers mentioned there too, like wtf is 5,400-rpm vinyl record?

interesting stuff really, what i found intriguing was their solution to ray tracing , they said it won't be software but dedicated hardware for it, which checks the mark for the 500$ price tag at the very least

Cool, a new controller, and i like both changes in it :)

The triggers are easy to imagine how they works and feels, is mostly the same used in wheels with the "force feedback". There is an small electric motor that can opposite some resistance, and even can move the trigger

The haptic feedback is something a bit more confusing, but i like the concept of removing the rumble motors, they was wasting too much battery, and the design have lot of limitations because you can only choose a small range of vibration modes... and all them are mostly the same
Also, the fact you have a "big" motor in a hand, and a "small" motor in the other was unballancing it (because obviouslly the big motor can do more rumble, so you feel more rumble in a hand and less in the other)

I wonder what they are going to do... i guess is going to be some kind of "mobile" (or electric) surfaces at the bottom of the grips... you know located exactly in the finger tips at bottom

But i hope they makes the grips bigger... otherway the finger tips are not going to lay naturally in that position

Sandungas mentioned the controller so I got curious ...

Not bad . I mean , it looks like a merge of nintendo/xbox with ps4 but these are probably still prototypes , hope Sony will come up with a more original design which will be only revealed in it's release date anyways but I ain't that hyped for this anyways , let's see what the library will be like.

Oh and that ''Let's Go Digital'' thing... I know what Sony's thinking.
Every user forced to sign in to PSN and get games from there. No more physical media.

Bit like Google is trying to do with their gaming stuff. No console , streaming only.
If that's what they're actually thinking it's a shame because I prefer games on Blu-Ray with manuals , boxes and coverart and one can really tell by the way the PS4 physical games are , imo they aren't putting much effort as they were before , it's all download.

I'd have to agree. that design is horrible. it's like sony was trying to make it look futuristic and this is what they came up with. they really need to hire some creative bodies at that company. I recently learned that Mark Cerny is the head engineer for the ps5, just like he was with the vita and the ps4. you'd think they would've fired him after what happened with the vita. microsoft fired the head engineer for the xbox one when it was going to have all that drm crap and there was public backlash. however, whoever gave all that the green light is probably still working for the company (microsoft and sony both).

I'm of the exact same.
It doesn't look ''futuristic'' at all.
It's horrible. It totally looks like a toilet.
Atari Jaguar anyone? 64bit? We're ahead of the game.
Yeah......

Yeah mate , F%$# all that DRM crap. Thought they all would've learnt it by now. Electronic Arts yeahh...
But in this case it's the ''lets force everyone to sign onto psn and buy our games from there only''.
It sucks. Why does everything has to be internet based anyways?
Not enough cashing out on consoles plus paying internet providers plus spending money on games?
But that's just me. I'm old school that way. I don't care about online gaming stuff at all.
That's what I think of that's LETS GO DIGITAL thing , sadly enough maybe things are going down that way , I hope not .

The PS4 official design is nice man but this PS5 ''design'' ... sorry it's rubbish.

the xbox one design is pretty bad too. it looks like a giant vcr or one of those early atari consoles that weighs a million pounds. I think the ps4 design is average, nothing really spectacular about it. that's why I bought one of those Japanese ps4s with the metal slim on it. I saw someone on ebay trying to sell just that metal slime piece for $200 (no console). you can remove it or put it anywhere on the front of the system.

I know XD LMAO

Cool!
The original PS4 is huge but the slim is sweet.
The ''PRO'' is abuse.

All these ''revisions''. SEGGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! XD

It's funny but Nintendo is solid as F%$# on that. They usually get it right at first!

This reminds me of RED Cameras and their fake custom SSDs that turned out to be overpriced normal mSATA SSDs.
Not saying Sony isn't capable of including great SSDs in the PS5, but custom ones? I don't think so (I'm talking about the internal SSD as well, not only this cartridges that seem to be SSDs). I guess time will tell as well as the iFixit teardown :-p

To me it sounds posible, is a nice way to reduce the final price by making this storage devices optionals, in the basic bundle should not be included

And it should be an M.2 NVMe at PCIe v4 speeds... thats the technological max peak provided by the AMD APU
Not sure how many bandwidth could be that, but is something massive for sure, lol

And... i think it should be used as system "cache"... you know, to copy data temporally from the games/apps and boost his access speed
This is why it was reported that the "loading" screens of prototype games has been reduced a lot

Not sure... by now is just a rumour, but makes sense to me if they does it this way
