Update (v2):
Progress continues on the PlayStation 4 since the release of 4.05 Exploit by SpecterDev a little over a month ago, since then we have seen several things make its way to aid the exploit such as PS4HEN (by wildcard) then we seen that followed the flatz unlocking the PS2 Classics on the PS4. We have also seen methods of dumping your PS4 Disc Games/PSN Content like this one from Vortex. We have been seeing alot of progress but still lots to achieve yet in the PS4 scene so it should be a fun journey, but if your on 4.05 and obviously may not want to update to stay on the journey but fear of accidentally installing a firmware update FEAR NO MORE, LightningMods & CelesteBlue have provided a PS4HEN payload combine with Update Blocker to help prevent you from accidentally leaving your v4.05 firmware

  • PS4HEN-Update-Blocker-Payload
This Payload contains Debug settings, Update Blocker, and HEN in 1!

The update blocker creates a folder in /update and unlinks the folder DO NOT REMOVE IT You WILL still get the notification of an update, let the update download to 100% then you will be greeted with a "Cannot Download" message and will not allow you to install the firmware update, so now no worries you cannot update it accidentally... You can use @LightningMods website to inject it without injecting it via PC

thanks. I read about this on temp. @TOM1211 or anyone, do you know if you can use a proxy? the people on temp are unsure. I haven't tested it out yet. do I need to block the update servers after using the update blocker? the only reason I want to use a proxy is to block them since I can't with my router. also, you can either go to a website or self-host (what I plan to do) to deploy the exploit, correct? lastly, I read that you shouldn't place the system in rest mode - why is that?

The way update blocker works is it creates two folders in the ps4 update section meaning it can't download or install. If a new hack is released if you ftp and delete these folders the system can update. As it creates these folders it is a permanent fix so when you reboot and the exploit isn't run the playstation still can't download anything or install.
Yes website or self host the exploit, if you self host people say it works quicker when it can take a few tries using websites for it to be successful.
I haven't tried a proxy but should work.
I turned rest mode off so not sure some people have had problems coming out of it after exploiting assuming it is a cache thing with the ps4. Rest mode worries me anyway as it can do what it wants(install updates and things silently) and whatnot but if you're backing up games or installing you wouldn't want it to go to rest mode anyway.

I used to use rest mode a lot, but since I don't play the system much, I found it better to shut down the system. I've not had an update install automatically. I think street fighter V was nagging me about version 1.07 or something. I'm not sure what firmware that comes with, but I believe the game itself is pre 4.05.

I plan to self-host. the information says not to use a proxy for unknown reasons. I have a proxy on my wii u as well as dns blocking updates. I've also deleted the update folder, so I have three methods going on to prevent updates. the proxy one prevents access to the eshop even with nnu patcher, so I have to disable it to access the eshop. I wonder if the reason here is something similar. I can still access the internet on the wii u. I'm also blocking update urls on my ps4 as per my tutorial. I can still access the internet with that system too. the urls blocked was overkill though. I saw a list of sites on temp that's less than half as long (I think). I know that the ps4 directs the system to an xml file just like the vita does when it comes to updates. you can redirect it with the vita, so maybe something like that will happen with the ps4 to force a 4.55 update or maybe dns servers that force one just like the vita has? ;)

still working, lol. about the 4.55 its still real buggy, (holy grail)
i would stick to 4.05 for a while.
off the subject, ps4cheater is out and i can confirm it works. kind of like gameCHI or netcheat
