PS3 4.83 CFW / Homebrew Apps / Plugins / Tools updated for 4.83

Hi guys. Thx you for your work. There is one question:
Can I use custom firmware for PS3 Slim 2504A (Date Code 1B). Minimum Version Checker shows me: "3.60 or later"
If not... is there another alternative for me

no. 3.56 or lower.
 
Hello there. I am new here and i have a few questions on my own. But i got a PS3 Slim with Rebug 4.82 CEX and to go online, it tells me to update the firmware. The first question is: Can i go and install another CFW like 4.83 Ferrox or another of my choose over 4.82 Rebug?? The second question is: Will i lose everything?? Because i have an external HDD with several games and PKGs and i am consider to change the internal hdd with a bigger one. And the third and final question: Do I need to enable in Rebug Toolbox the option QA Flag???

you can install ferrox 4.83 over rebug 4.82. in fact, I did that a couple days ago. you won't lose anything. it's recommended to enable qa in case you want to downgrade or use update debug.

No, it's for the QA department in a software house. It's so they can test games on multiple firmwares without having to keep consoles running each one.

I'm new here and I'd like to get some advise from the pro's!!!
I've been waiting for jailbreaking my old fat ps3/putting some cfw on my old fat ps3 console for a long time now.
I have never done this before, but I'm a quick learner and was willing to put some effort on it until a couple of weeks ago, when I saw that the Sony guys put out firmware 4.83! Glad I didn't update it yet! My console is still on 4.82.
I've read that Rebug has got the most features out there, so that's what I prefer to use.
Now I'd like to know what is the best option, because there aren't any Rebug plans yet for 4.83, when I still want to go online with some games (like PES etc) and don't want to get any problems with it.
So can I install cfw Rebug 4.82 latest and still play online without the 4.83 update questions when going online?
I've read that spoofing??? to 4.83 is possible, don't know what that means.
Can anybody explain? And what the risks are? What do I have to do to don't F%$# up when going online?
And gentlemen, what is the best guide to follow when installing Rebug 4.82 latest? I don't want any problems when doing it, so I prefer the best guide out there.
What's up with dex, cex and rex?
Or do you guys advise Ferrox because they did manage to deal with 4.83 yet.
I hope someone can give me some good advise, and that y'all don't get anoyed by asking these questions out here.
I've done the research, but It's still not very clear for me. Excuse me for that!

First of all, stay on 4.82 OFW (official firmware) and do not update via the internet to 4.83. Doing so will prevent you jailbreaking your PS3 using PS3Xploit (link) as Sony patched the exploit in the latest update.

Rebug is certainly the CFW with the most features. I believe it has a built-in firmware spoofer, enabling you to go online without updating to 4.83 CFW, however I have not tried it myself. Spoofing is a term which essentially means 'faking'; in this instance, appearing to be a higher firmware version than it actually is. REX is a term Rebug coined; it is a hybrid of CEX (consumer/retail) firmware and DEX (developer/debug). The risks of going online are an account and/or console ban. There is always a risk when on CFW, but there are ways to mitigate the risk - see SEN Enabler, PSNpatch, webMAN MOD R2+Triangle button combo for more information.

There's nothing wrong at all with Ferrox; I used Ferrox Cobra 4.82 for the better part of a year. I moved over to Rebug REX 4.82.2 a couple of weeks ago just for a change. I'm still using it despite 4.83 Ferrox Cobra being released. I hope this helps you with at least some of your queries :)

Thank you very much for your reply, but i have another tiny question. If i install this CFW and i will continue to use everything that i have, but if something happens to my HDD will i be able to install this CFW???
I am noob here, i used to exploit the ps3 with OFW 4.82, and i am very afraid to loose everything. I have backup with my CFW 4.82.
Will i use it again if and only if something happens???

Yes if something happens with the HDD you will be able to reinstall CFW after replacing HDD, formatting, etc....

I tried rebug 4.82, but it failed to install on new hdd it gives an error, BUT it succeed for Ferrox 4.82.

Rebug installation is sometimes tricky from recovery mode, should install fine from xmb though.
Once on ferrox 4.82 you can try to install rebug from xmb ;)

Thnx for the quick response. I agree with what you are mentioning and I think I will try to go with Rebug 4.82 latest then. Not sure to take REX, CEX or DEX yet. Anyone got a full guide for going from OFW 4.82 to REBUG 4.82 latest?

i can assure you that i really test a lot , i consider Ferrox as OFW for CFW users if they messed up on system
 
I'd suggest installing cfw through update debug. it's much easier to keep track of firmware versions. and, you shouldn't encounter that update problem via the recovery menu. update debug is a part of qa flagging, so it'll be present on any firmware as long as you have qa flagging enabled.
