We don't want you to brick your system so it's better that you just tell us what model you have just like @Coldheart2236 said. Post the result of MinVerChk and then we can guide you further.
You do not understand me. The console was at 4.83 CFW, it has been installed with 4.84 OFW, and now i need to install CFW 4.84 over OFW !!! How to patch dump ? PS3DumpChecker ?

@psykosis we have another " accident " here.... `\:confused:/`.... this time I think it was the goldfish....

You didn't state that in the first place or people wouldn't post what they did.

As far as i know there is no patch yet to install CFW directly over the new OFW so you would need to downgrade to 3.55 using a hardware flasher then install CFW AFAIK for the minute.

Chuck Norris came in and dropkicked the update into his ps3?

Actually PyPS3DumpChecker is the what i have used lately
I think @littlebalup is prob the smartest one on this topic, and he's written a few tutorials that are here in the forums

The ps3 began to haunt him in his dreams, until magic fairies came in the middle of the night to carry him off into the playstation networkland. In this demential fantasia, his pinky toe skipped against a golden coin, that spun across the pond, into a frog. The frog leaped across his controller, and frantically pressed the x key in a desperate attempt to escape the oncoming snake. Sadly, the frog became lunch for the snake, and the update began processing, as the user fainted off to sleep, holding the x key.

So i have a phat 60gb ps3 pal version, and i had rogero cobra 4.70 and i tough why not update and i installed this cfw and everything runs great except original ps2 discs, every ps2 game i put i just get a blackscreen and i need to hold power button for 10 seconds to even shutdown my ps3, ps1 and ps3 games work great any help? i installed the cobra cex version.

so normal cex runs great with ps2 original disc while cobra version doesnt, could anyone fix cobra version and original ps2 discs?

You can use actual 4.83 patch (or even a lower) on a 4.84 dump. The only difference is, once patched and flashed, the console will not boot straight to the XMB but will ask to install a 4.84 firmware (so install a 4.84 CFW).

ummm yes hello i am new to this method so i will make question simple i am at an OFW 4.84 my friend update it by mistake even tho he didnt mean it so my uestion is can i use this CFW on a OFW of the same version or i have to wait for a higher CFW version to be released to change it to CFW ty :)

i am thinking to extract CoreOS from Overflow CFW i will take 7mb block like for 4.82 then create a BIN to be applied later

Am I missing something here?
I was on 4.8.2 rebug and wanted to go to 4.8.4 so I updated to 4.8.4 OFW and then installed the HFW.
I managed to get the pkg installer on the menu and able to install pkg's, but they do not work.
How can I install packages that actually work?

Your must enable han or debug package before installing your package.

Thank you so much for doing this awesome job, and providing us with CFW!

With that said, I have not had my system updated since 4.81, and now I'm kind of rusty.

I have no idea which of these to install...

I currently use "mmCM Version 04.81.02" which has the Firmware mode: COBRA 7.50 compatible. I never connected the system to the internet either. I also have "Rebug Toolbox Version 02.02.12" installed which shows LV2 Kernel as "CEX", and "Webman Games" as well. But it's so long ago that I've completely forgotten how to do these things. It's kind of embarrasing.

Could I just download the "4.84 Overflow v1 Standard CEX Edition" or should I get the "4.84.1 Rebug Lite Edition"? I usually just created a USB with the update on it. Is this the same procedure still?

Thank you so much in advance!

yes you can flash any 4.84 cfw you want as you would any update.about what to flash however especially since you're clearly on some version of rebug i'd suggest at least starting with latest 4.82.2 rebug rex (no reason to flash lite),simply because toolbox and some other things that maybe you've accustomed to won't work or won't be available if you flash overflow because you've been on rebug.then,if you want to try overflow or any other cfw you can simply reflash and restore and start clean.

nothing against overflow,as i've said my reason is only because he is already on rebug.

Thank you very much for your reply!

So as I understand it, I should just download the 4.84.1 Rebug Lite, transfer it to a USB drive, plug it in the PS3 and update? :) Or should I just go for the 4.84.2 REX?
