PS3 Super Nintendo (SNES Station) Emulator for PS3Xploit HAN (via PS2 Emulation)

Recently @DeViL303 & @Joonie shared a video demo of a Super Nintendo (Ps2 Homebrew) Emulator working via the unlocked PS2 Classic emulator from the Ps3Xploit HAN (v3.0). During some the previews leading up to the release we showcased the video before now developer HABIB has released the emulator in ISO form and instructions how to add your own ROMs. The question now becomes what other homebrew and emulators can we get running on these console's?

We have added an official thread in the Ps3Xploit Support forum for tracking and discussing Homebrew through the emulators unlocked by PS3Xploit's etHANal (v3.0) hacks. >>>> LINK

SnesStation version included in the iso is indeed SP193 mod (v0.2.4S). From an user point of view, it works fine with most games - except the games that used special chips. Disable sound can *sometimes* help a bit - but no real workaround for these.
There was only one official version of SnesStation, which was closed source. There were various mods of this version (by different developers), which aim to extend its original functionality... usually in terms of the devices supported (the original version only supported CD/DVD). Compatibility and performance with games should remain the same, regardless of whose work is used.

Mine was based on Mega Man's mod, since ffgriever also kept his work closed-source. Compared to other releases, I believe mine would be the only one that:
  • Has a quit option.
  • Supports all PlayStation 2 models.
  • Uses interlaced NTSC/PAL by default (for compatibility with LCD TVs), and offers an option to change this.
The releases I made were flawed, due to the homebrew PADMAN module being bugged back then (in 2016). But a fresh build with the updated PS2SDK should solve this.

IMO one major problem with old homebrew software was how some developers were misinformed about using the IOP and its services: some did not reset the IOP, while some reset it with board-specific IOPRP images (e.g. EELOADCNF).
Some initialize it correctly, but use board-specific IOP modules (e.g. LIBSD, XMCMAN, XMCSERV).

Since the PS3 is not the PS2 and it doesn't have a complete browser (which was why there were those board-specific files), it is possible that compatibility problems may arise from this.

When I launch the ps2 snes emulator the screen turns black and does nothing.
Steps I've taken so far
Opened the ps2emulator.iso using ultraiso then copied my rom set into the roms folder and then hit save.
I then opened ps2 classics gui and encrypted the iso receiving the iso.bin.enc file, I reopened ps2 classics gui and made a PKG with the iso.bin.enc. I ran the PKG through habib's tool and installed the signed PKG on my ps3. It installs correctly but like I said when I hit x on the game to launch the screen goes black and nothing happens. Did I miss any steps?
Edit: HAN is enabled before launch

i have same problem. ,
start snes and black screen, after a few minutes gives error 80028f17. if i active pkg debug and i run the snes , gives an error 80029530

I have done all the steps as indicated :/

@habib why didn't you upload a dvd? Couldn;t add all the roms cuz of the size limit. I think you should upload a dvd as well.
Its an iso, you can't upload a dvd, only an iso of a dvd, you can try burn it on dvd if you want but it won't play on ps3. You need your own roms and to pack them yourself into a pkg.

We can extract modules from 220 ps2 bios, add them to iso or mc, and change patch from rom0 to mc0, or cdrom0. This should work for ps3.

I looked in some emus and for example fceu (mm), pgen, many others, need updated modules not available on ps3. ReGBA use standard modules, not updated one. In theory it should work, but is not tested.

Yeah I meant the iso of a DVD. I was just saying that since it doesn't increase the size significantly and lets us add all roms, it'll be more convenient. But yeah you can just make your own DVD iso and that's what I did but most people will not know how to do that so that's why I said upload a dvd iso
