[TuT] Setting up PS2 PlaceHolder REBUG Edition (Controller Sync Fix for PS2 Games on nonBC Consoles

If you want test/play ISO.BIN.ENC not PS2 ISO. Then just take ps2_netemu.self from any non cobra cfw (or OFW) 4.70 and put into /dev_flash/ps2emu/ using manager that can write ps3 flash (every modern file manager can do this, but you need to enable dev_blind or similiar). Then your pads sync without problem on ISO.BIN.ENC. But you completly lose PS2ISO compatibility.

But two days ago I was on Habib Starbucks 1.02Beta and PSN GTA Vice City went good with wireless...I installed only the game activated the 2 .rap(PS2 Clasics and GTA own rap too)...and it synced first time I launched the game...I switched to Rebug and PS2 games dont work with wireless...with any method.
I will test them one more time today...I will reinstall the CFW first as STLcardsWS adviced...

Changes in New Habib cfw are mostly done in ps2_netemu that is why sync working for you. Habib work hard on R.E this emu and implementing new patches in his FW. Rebug don't have this patches. If you have time to test, put emu from habib to rebug. Maybe it work (if changes done by habib are only in emu, not in cobra stage2.bin).

Success...the CFW reinstall, restore default settings, and "cable in" first time at game startup solved the problem...now the contr. syncs with .ENC and .ISO too!

I will try it...maybe tomorrow.

YEa mounting the encyrpted ISO and launching it from the disc icon (not placeholder)
So it only does that if you mount it as and launch it from a disc? I mean't like launching an official ps2 classic that you get from psn dl. I've been wanting to play persona 3 but I don't know if it works with the rebug launcher, so I was trying the official ps2 classic pkg.

I'm running a few tests now, I'll let you know what happens when I'm done

sekuza009 OK testing is done, so after trial and error (many times losing sync, changing FW, etc...) I figured it's fine as long as you remember to Enable PS2Classics with webMAN ( :L2:+:select:+:/\: ) every time you want to play the PS2Classic and Disable in webMAN ( :L2:+:select:+:/\: ) when done

I put ps2_netemu from habib to rebug and the .ENC synced first time when I activated only the 2 rap file..without cable..and without placeholder

I will try original rebugs emu setup one more time...is any or..no difference...?

biggest difference is the ability to sync multiple controllers also save state is changed and no need for ps2classic flag
OK so I did somewhat the same as szunyi84 but I replaced all the ps2 emu files on REBUG with files from Habib Starbucks v1.02, it gives you the multiple controller sync and different savestate but you still want to use PS2Classic flag (webMAN MOD~ :L2:+:select:+:/\: ) to play PSN PS2Classics or you'll end up losing sync on system and placeholder along with blackscreening on the PS2Classic itself

My stage2.bin has the difference for the flags, not the emus itself
I optimized the emu if someone does a stupid thing like you :p

If you can test my cfw and report back, i will release the src and also the cfw on coming weekend :)

I've already tested out your FW it's working as it should, my one issue is the saves, I just prefer the options that REBUG has

what save bug, my issue with the saves was that I liked them as they were, more managable

The bug has been told completely
Since 4.50++ a change was done to st_size of bootparam in netemu
Two different checks of two different sizes unlike 4.46
We passed it by using original bootparam size and force less size for ->unenc mem card and bigger size for ->enc mem card
It was not a feature, it was a bug
It actually was bad cause legit npdrm users of previous versions tend to lose the save data due to different mem card being used.
Im certain this would be patched in next rebug revision
The patch is li %r0, 0x21f4 which fixes this bug
