yeah, I heard that 5.6.0 was coming in December. I'm using Yoshi's Island for haxchi. I already owned the game, so that's y I chose it. u actually don't need to install haxchi unless u want things to be easier or want to boot multiple homebrews. u can use fw booter with ur fw.img via the homebrew channel as an alternative.
I'm not sure if zelda will have newer firmware on it, but u could use loadiine to boot the game since u can just delete the update partition. I haven't heard of a game that wouldn't allow u to boot it due to firmware, but there may be some. there probably is for really old firmware, but I dunno. spoofing may be enough if u have to have newer firmware. my second wii-u is spoofed to 5.5.1. there was (don't think there is anymore) a brick risk with spoofing, because at that time there was no progress bar. the system would return to the home menu, and u'd have to guess if enough time had passed. two minutes was the suggested amount of time to wait. anyway, I haven't had any issues with it. it shows the spoof in system settings and u can access online I believe, but the update servers don't recognize the system as being on 5.5.1, so it will still try installing an update unless u block updates.
yeah, u should make sure u have a proxy or tubehax to block updates. that's what I hate about the wii-u - automatic firmware installs. I'm using cc proxy for my proxy service. I like having direct control over it. I've also enabled mac filtering, so only the systems I specify can use the proxy. I'm using it to block ps4 updates as well. after hearing that @atreyu187 's system not only downloaded but installed the latest firmware despite having both selections being disabled in system settings, I decided to block the update servers. updating will generate an error with the proxy enabled, but the internet still works.the download function doesn't seem to work on my system either. I wasn't going to risk it updating. I'm still on 3.55 actually. cc proxy has been working very well with both systems.
Yeah as long as I'm on 5.5.1 I know I don't need Haxchi, I only got this for possible 5.6.0 ksploit with Haxchi. Because I don't like spoofing and didn't wanna lose my chance to get the game from eshop.
Btw, dimok just released a sig-check patcher homebrew as in elf, meaning no need fw.img to have all these patches applied in the kernel.
but it still lacks some access exclusive to the modified nand [fw.img].
The following signature checks are all patched out by this (which is equivalent to a custom fw.img):
- cert verification
- cached cert check
- MCP authentication check
- public key verification check
- bootLogoTex and bootMovie.h264 check
- region title launch check
At least it's still good to me since I only mess with sysNAND so far.
