The 4.84 Custom Firmware landscape for the PS3 is certainly taken shape here in the last few days as we have seen multiple developer's rejoice and not only update things but progressing the PS3 scene as well. We seen Team Rebug drop 4.84 REBUG LITE edition & 4.84 FERROX Cobra cfw's that had the Cobra v7.55 payload, but as Team Rebug member @Joonie was finishing up the Rebug Lite release/testing and was about about to release, developer @habib (another team rebug member) was working on advancing the Cobra payload with some new features that would mature the payload to Cobra v8.00 (updated v8.01 see below) and in this 4.84 STARBUGED COBRA (v8.00) CFW. This blend of Starbucks + Rebug = Starbuged and not only does this CFW come equipped with the new Cobra v8.00 features but also contains all the feature that REBUG Lite edition contains as well.

The Cobra v8.00 payload see's a few changes highlighted by the ability to run a payload with kernel privileges in a way like those familiar with the PS Vita scene see with skprx, same concept but now with the PS3. Currently only a single payload is supported at a time but habib says he may increase this into the future. Also v8.00 should improve boot time dramatically according the developer as there is no longer a Stage 1 at boot up, Also note that this CFW has Cobra enabled by default (in contrast to rebug lite, needs to be turned on). Additional details about this CFW release can be seen below.

good morning afternoons, nights when you read this but I have a question have the debug setting activated? .

No dex functionality on this CFW, Latest dex based cfw is Rebug REX 4.82.2. Of course, if your console is QA Flagged you can enable the QA debug menu with the button combo on this CFW.

Installed it last night. So far, so good.

A couple of minor things that happened, not sure if they are common:

      1. After the update was applied, it forced a Rebuild Database, and after that I had a "corrupted data" show up on the XMB under the game section. Looked in the game folder on the PS3 HD and there was a random named folder containing bit of Retroarch stuff (_INST_*random_numbers*\USRDIR\cores\Genesis GX Plus\OPT files). I copied the OPT files back to the original Retroarch install folder (SNES100000).

      2. Retroarch 1.7.6 would not run and would crash back to the XMB after the update. I had to reinstall it. Now it's fine.

      3. The refresh of names/icons on all my installed games/apps is REALLY SLOW on this Firmware. Like - it takes a good 2 minutes of spinning circle-arrow icon before they refresh.

      4. had to replace the REBUG Coldboot with my original. I do not like custom coldboots, and it kinda bugs me when Firmware Devs stick them in there.

other than that everything seems to run fine as intended.

      So, these settings do work?

Thank you very much but I have another question, does that mean that you do not have the option fake save data owner?
    8. DeViL303
      DeViL303
      Yes.
Correct. It might be possible to add that feature using files from Rebug 4.82 REX.. I'm not sure.

You need to be on CFW already to install this, Are you on CFW now? Which CFW? Are you installing from recovery or the XMB?

First you need to know if your PS3 is even CFW compatible, not all of them are. All PHAT models are and Slims (CECH2000) up to early CECH2500 up to about date 1A, for CECH2500 its best to use MinVerCheck to see if it is CFW compatible. If MinVerCheck shows a minimum version of 3.56 and below then you are fine.

But as you are on 4.84 OFW then you would need to use an E3 Hardware Flasher to install CFW if your PS3 is CFW compatible and is a NOR model, and Teensey if its a NAND. PS3Xploit is for 4.82 OFW only.

I already jailbreak my ps3 but by doing the update 4.84 I lost it how to find it

By updating to 4.84 OFW you have removed the jailbreak. You will have to jailbreak your PS3 again using a Hardware Flasher.

With Oblivion being an old game you, would think it would but this is quite a taxing game on the ram for an old game and installs data as it goes so can be even more taxing at times.

I figured out how to get a screenshot on it though.....use your phone lol:-p

Okay I have now made the payload.bin file on the USB stick dev_usb000 and the package file installed and started and he has also created all the Files on the hdd0 but in the toolbox he shows 7.55 ?

I'm not really sure how rebug toolbox works on normal cex cfw. a lot of debug options will not work. if you have cobra 8.0, I believe you can just swap them. also, they may be disabled by default (i.e. bk extension). rebug's cobra is in the rebug folder. I assume habib's are in the dev_habib folder. with rebug, you'll find the correct rebug toolbox in the packages folder inside of the dev_rebug. I think you can even mismatch them too, so it will say cobra multi. that's probably what it says on rebug 4.84. it's missing the dex component.
