PS3 4.84 OFW Released - Beware do not update

PlayStation 3 had an official firmware update released with the drop of system update 4.84. Below i provided a small chart for people on other firmwares and their hacks. Currently it unknown what prompted the update, could of been a simple maintenance update, which what appears to be the case on initial inspections. Could the update have something to do with PS Plus free games ending on the service? Very well could be but that is speculation at this point. PSX-Place will keep you updated of all the changes this update brings. The update has not patched the recent StoreHaxx release which is not something most will use as its simply an IDPS dumper currently (w/ other potentials possiable). Even on 4.83 and looking to exploit, you may want to wait to update until devs in this thread mainly @bguerville and @esc0rtd3w give the okay.

Depends what the model PS3 Slim it is, not all of them are jailbreakable.

Your PS3 won't even use a CFW PUP file without patching the flash so its pointless to try.

Because of this FW update and the last one only using a hardware flasher can jailbreak them, downgrading them or wait for a NoFSM patch to come out so you can install CFW directly after patching the flash so there would be no need to downgrade. But as the update has just been released dev's need time to make research and make the necessary changes and updates.

I would personally wait for the NoFSM patch, if there is going to be one. Some dev's have been very quick off the march to update things. At the minute nothing is clear as I said the update has only just been released, but you can at least research to see if your PS3 is CFW compatible while waiting.

Thanks for the quick reply and explanation.. right i forgot to put cech model number.. from what i researched it should be jailbreakable (cech-2504A) date code is 0C or OC (zero or o)

That's what its for, REBUG in CEX so it should work. On DEX you use another method to get online.

i tried this, then i needed to get back to Rebug 4.82 for testing lol

anyways i made this PUP of Rebug 4.82.2 REX with syscon spoofed to 4.84

it installs over the 4.84 DBOFW without issue. just figured i would post it for anyone else that wanted to use it

it's not spoofed, the syscon is changed so you can install it over the top of 4.84 DB CFW, if you want it spoofed you'll need to use SEN Enabler

I didn't update to 4.83 OR 4.84...and guess what... everything is still working perfect.
If you "accidentally" upgraded... welcome to the firmware you CHOSE to update to.

I am now going to give an example....

You sign into PSN.... you get a message immediately...> ( This is a Firmware Update!!! )

"The latest system software is required to sign in and use this service. You will now be signed out and the system will begin to download the software, Do you wish to continue? Yes..No.."

When you select No you will be signed out and returned to the XMB.... FFS...

An App update is this.....

You are already signed in and go to use an app eg. Amazon Video.... An get a message...

"The latest software version is required to use this program. The app will now quit and begin to down the latest version... Do you wish to continue? Yes...No...?"

Or be smart and use the NoPSN app versions for HAN and CFW. And make sure "Auto Update" is turned OFF all the time.

Any reported updates from Rebug 4.82 CEX ? It's supposed to block recovery updates i think it doesn't work with 4.84

If you have auto update disabled and then disabled the internet connection before going into recovery mode you should be fine. But i use DEX with REBUG.

Again i have a question.. 4.84 CFW came out ( http://www.psx-place.com/threads/4-...-versions-included-by-bobby_downgrades.22561/ ) I have playstation 3 (cech-2504A) with OFW 4.84 update not jailbroken. How can in install 4.84 CFW ? I watched so many videos how to jailbreak your playstation but they're so outdated.. (i think) i just cant follow them. Can someone explain it today in 2019 or at least answer me if i need hardware flasher (e3)...

Dude I was just trolling the people who were going to say that they updated acccidentally. It was just a joke. I didnt update to 4.84 and I have my ps3 on 4.82
